It's a chilly Friday afternoon in winter 08/09. You're coming home from school. You are glad to get out of the wet outdoor clothes after walking in the cold for 20 minutes and jump into warm and cozy sweatpants. Your mom asks how your day was. After a little chat, you get to your room and start your computer. Your mom brings you a hot chocolate to warm you up. You log in to WoW and hear this music. Looking outside, you notice it's getting dark already. You start up TeamSpeak, all your friends are online and you join them. You have the whole weekend to discover all the mysteries and secrets this awesome expansion has to offer. Life's simple.

You hit the nail on the head man. I was thinking maybe Ulduar was the most I listened to but Dalaran is it. Jumping around the bank, trying to hit those sweet spots where you could get your flying mount into the city, flicking coins in the well, all while spamming work as a blacksmith and making passive income. WOTLK will always hold a place in my heart because I stopped raiding after we got Arthas. My DK had 130 days played at the end of one expansion and I don't regret a minute of it.

I am 44 years old, surely I am older than many of those who read these lines, but inside I am still a young lover of Wow, and despite the fact that many might say that Wow is nothing more than a virtual world, I feel as if the emotions lived playing Wow I really lived them in the flesh, and it is precisely Dalarán and the magic of his music is what makes me experience that feeling and nostalgia the most.

Things were so different back then. One thing I've learnt is that life always has it's share of good and bad. Sometimes one outweighs the other. Ultimately that can affect your hindsight. When we were young and we were playing Wrath, the game was quite different. It required a more dedicated approach from its players to be fulfilled. You had to partially live in that world. It's because of that I think, that these older versions of WoW have become entwined with events and emotions from our lives as they were back then. Parts of our lives during that period was spent in the virtual world of Azeroth. So looking back we get this flooding nostalgia, as if the events we experienced were as real and palpable as the events of our lives at the time. That's a very specific and intriguing effect for a video game to have. Everyone I speak to about WoW has countless stories from the Wrath era. Blizzard hit the mark on pretty much everything in regards to the game itself. But we are the ones really that made it what it was - and how exciting it was! An invasion of a northern continent to save the world. It's not the same playing it today - it never will be. I guess my point is there's a reason Wrath in particular invokes such a strong nostalgic response. We all had lives and we all had our problems. But that was offset by the adventure there was to be had in Northrend. I don't know if we're ever going to see the same thing again. I'm not sure it's possible as we've all grown up. So lose yourself in wistful memory of this incredible slice of MMO history. If you played back then, you were a part of something very special.

From the Wiki: Nostalgia is a sentimentality for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations. The word nostalgia is a learned formation of a Greek compound, consisting of νόστος, meaning "homecoming", a Homeric word, and ἄλγος, meaning "sorrow" or "despair", and was coined by a 17th-century medical student to describe the anxieties displayed by Swiss mercenaries fighting away from home. Described as a medical condition-a form of melancholy-in the Early Modern period, it became an important trope in Romanticism. Nostalgia is associated with a longing for the past, its personalities, possibilities, and events, especially the "good ol' days" or a "warm childhood". There is a predisposition, caused by cognitive biases such as rosy retrospection, for people to view the past more favourably and future more negatively.

I love to chill here in wow it’s peaceful except for “trade chat!” (Drama) but I always loved the music in the game. I’m pretty sure it took a long time to write down the music for every zone in wow, but I think dalaran had the best music to me at least I know some people like the music from stormwind and darnassa I think that is how you spell it idk

Always a pleasure to hear that! The help part, not the saint part. My ego is big but not _that_ big. :) I don't take requests, but I do have a shifting mental schedule for zones I want to work on next. Any favorites?

To me, the true prime of WOW. Vanila and BC are great. But WOTLK was another level: lore/quest, raids, character, areas, music (Especially Dalaran and Grizlly Hills). I discovered WOW with BC during my early teen's years. And that was best gamer's period of my life. I meet wonderul people, just chilling and fight in dungeon or BG. And now, I'm a man near of 30 yo. I stop WOW when MOP was came. But my memories will be always here, and now listen this song hit me with nostalgia. Thank WOW, Thank Blizzard, and thanks everyone to make me happy

WoW came out when I was an adult so I don't have the aching feelings of childhood nostalgia that a lot of players do. The music of original WoW and TBC was largely subdued ambience (except for TBC's dungeons and raid instances which had some notoriously moody bangers). The sharp, rich tones you hear in videos from the last 15 years is post-remastered audio that occurred *I think* during Cataclysm's makeover. In fact, the old music was so uninteresting to the majority of us players that we turned the music slider all the way down and played our own music. This is why most old fraps/screen captures of classic WoW have metal or electronic music drowning out the game sounds lol. It wasn't until WOTLK came out when the music actually blew me away. My main started questing to 80 in Howling Fjord and my god. At one point those horns synced up perfectly with me walking to a cliff's edge for the first time and seeing just how vertical the zone was and it was one of the most mind-blowing experiences of the game for me. I had played the game for like 4 years up to that point and was in utter disbelief that it was still capable of taking me by complete suprise. Then they remastered the audio for all the old zones and it really made a huge difference and gave me a whole new appreciation for those zones.
