the results I expected.. I think titanium aught be considered for boiling water and nothing else. I've tinkered with concepts to stretch out its use. one is to find something useful to diffuse the heat to the bottom of the pan or use two two pans one inside the other. to diffuse the heat you might want to fashion a piece of stainless steel wire to the shape of your cooking utensil and that will help diffuse the heat somewhat. the next concept I played with was to steam your food by placing it in a smaller pot pan and pour water in the larger pot/pan. boil away to cook lovely rice dishes. one option I thought on but haven't tested was to fashion a piece of copper to the shape of the pan and use that as a diffuser, but it does abrogate the weight saving on the cook set's... you might look for a secondary use for said copper bottom of pan which might alleviate that notable disadvantage.

#1. A new pan needs seasoning which means heat it with oil on a very low flame This lines the pan #2 you fried in your pan without oil! yes of course it stuck

i have 2 evernew nonstick ti pots, a .9l and a 1.3l but my pots have the early nonstick coating that looks like grey paint. my understanding when i bought them was that the nonstick coating wasn't really put on the pots to prevent food from sticking or to allow cooking without oil, rather it was put on the pots to make it quicker and easier to wash them afterwards when food does stick to them. the translation from japanese to english really doesn't explain this very clearly, so i assume most americans think it's like any other nonstick pot so they treat it like any other pot and get negative results. my pots are almost 15 years old now and still look like new but that's because i'm the only one allowed to cook with them and i always follow the rules: don't heat an empty pot, don't use it on an uncontrollable heat source like a campfire, and don't use anything other than wood or plastic utensils in them for stirring or scraping. don't wash it with anything other than a cloth or a soft bristle brush. keep in mind that these were designed in japan for the japanese market and their style of cooking, which means steaming rice and making soups and cooking noodles so that's what these pots were made for and they do an excellent job at that type of cooking.

So much for their special non-stick ceramic coating. I was seriously considering buying a couple of pots from that particular Evernew line. Not anymore! Thanks for saving me some money.

@@SeniorHiker77 I agree with you. Unfortunately Evernew uses titanium plating to make their Ti cook kits. Basically, thinner than all the rest of the competition at only 0.3mm thick. Honestly, that's too thin. Causing their cook kits to not be able to handle the same amount of heat as their competitors such as Toak's, Vargo, and Snow Peak. You can literally flex Evernew cook kits by barely applying hand pressure to the sides. Try that with the competition, and you get no flex. They use thicker titanium in the construction of their cook kits.

It all depends on what you want, Evernew make the lightest and best manufactured pots on the market today. If you want that, then Evernew is where you need to go.

I find Titanium gets so hot when cooking, as the metal is so thin the heat builds up very quickly and as others state you get hot spots in the metal. The funny thing is you can buy very cheap Aluminum pans with non-stick coating that works 10 times better this is because the metal is a lot thicker. We buy these cooking pots etc thinking it’s lighter and this and that but in reality it doesn’t do justice for the very expense. We try to keep things extra light but really it comes at a very extra cost. To sum up I think Titanium is really any good for boiling water and boil in the bag food. A.t.b Adrian from the U.k

Senior Hiker 77 I’m really glad people like yourself state how it really is........I can honestly say I was looking on the Net earlier and nearly purchased the 900ml non-stick pot and now I’m glad I didn’t. I have instead opted for the 600ml extra light version.........but only to boil water. This pot you are using is difficult to source in the u.k obviously it’s from another country and this is where the costs add up. The ultra light is thinner again but as previously said I will use it for water boiling Atb Adrian
@marzsit98333 жыл бұрын
it isn't really the thickness of the metal but the metal itself. aluminum is an excellent heat conductor, the only metal better at conducting heat is copper but it is both heavy and expensive.. titanium is a very poor heat conductor which is why it is used in jet engines and turbochargers to make turbine blades that can take tremendous amounts of heat without burning up. titanium is even worse than stainless steel when it comes to conducting heat so any titanium pot or pan no matter how thick is going to develop hot spots over an uneven heat source.

Your thinking of Teflon. Ceramic is not so slippery. Mainly though you have too much heat concentrated on a small thin area of metal. Cook pots , not fry pots

Hi there thanks for sharing, It’s definitely in milliliter approximately 3us cup and they mention to heat at the lowest possible setting, warm and use cocking oil first then put your foods. As seen here no cocking oil were used. Try this and let me know.

I know on some of the freeze dried foods ( Mountain House ) you just boil the water in your pot, then pour it in the bag, stir it, seal it, wait 5 minutes. That way you don't have to worry about cleaning a pot. Looks like a great pot though...

@j.k.75955 жыл бұрын
@@SeniorHiker77 you could split the Mountain house at home into a "Freezer" zip-lock bag and then add water directly. I usually split meals with my daughter, so, I cook in the bag and use a plastic plate for each of us (and use left over water for coffee).

Great video... sometimes you have to "hover" your pan or pot ABOVE the flame and not set the pan down... keeping your distance from the heat so as not to get things too hot. You get the hang of it after awhile, or you starve. Your sidekick is a hoot, I have seen him on his own channel I guess a couple times, neat character.

@ Senior Hiker 77 Not impressed with the soto windmaster. From the reviews I have seen one of the advantages was, you could simmer with this stove. Definitely does not appear that you can. I use a fry pan on our hikes for the first night. Usually carry pre cooked meat to have for dinner and a lipton rice or noodle which requires simmering. Great to eat but clean up is rather involved afterwards. That pan scorched quite easily. I think the propane stoves always run hot. Thanks for the video.

the big problem with modern super-whamadyne backpacking stoves is that all the designers and stove critics are looking at minimum boil times and minimum weight only. they don't care about real people trying to cook real food in real pots and pans anymore, they assume everybody wants boiling water only, and they want it fast. this really sucks when you need a stove that is good for cooking because nobody does those kinds of tests anymore.. a titanium pot on a blowtorch stove is a terrible cooking combo and is only good for boiling water, but a titanium pot on a good, well-designed stove that distributes the heat well and is very controllable can be a good combination with some practice. all titanium cookware is difficult to cook on no matter who makes it.

i think you had a combo of a too hot stove and too thin pot scorching the coating. needless to say, i dont really trust anything labled as nonstick. esp not in camping gear. i have had some high dollar pots and pans touted as the latest and greatest, have food stick like shit on a shoe. depending on where im going and for how long, if i need to cook the food in my pot, ill line it with some aluminum foil. mostly though, ill plan out the meals to only need water or cold soak in another container. evernew makes some great stuff, but i think the nonstick coating can burn really easily wether its a canister stove or a alc stove.once that happens, its more useless than male nipples.
