I recently found your videos and have been enjoying them so much that I decided to re-install the game and dust off my Paladin. What would you suggest for getting back into EQ after almost 20 years with a level 65 moderately geared Paladin? Where would you go for gear and experience that would not be too dangerous for soloing? I have heard you mention a couple of times in your videos that the Paladin is a good tank. I didn't have that experience way back so things must have changed somewhat. Thanks!

I’m playing a paladin atm on the new TLP. If you haven’t played in 20 years I’d say start up on oakwynd the new TLP groups are plentiful and tons of players. It’s been great. I’ll be doing a bunch of paladin related stuff in the future highflying quests / etc

@@hammackj Thanks for the quick reply. I think Oakwynd is a paid server? I was hoping not to have to start over and I'm not sure I am interested enough to pay yet but I'll consider it.

There is a key you can bind that can switch between last target and yourself as well as a key for switching between two targets. It's useful in the fact that you can press it to target self, click a heal, click it again and it will let you switch back to your target. You missed out on a lot of swings against them just by continuing to have yourself targeted.

Yeah I had disabled that for the cycle mobs on tab instead, considering adding another key for that for this character. Most of the spells have the ToT stuff now though.

I was thinking of moloing a pally up on FV with BiS (or close to it) gear as I go, even if I am leveling in undead areas will my leveling still be fairly slow? Also thanks for the video!

After 59 it picks up with slay undead. I added the ranger/bard to make videos faster. As long as you upgrade your weapon every few levels it should be fast vs undead. At 60 I was hitting mobs in veksar for 5k with slay undead taking them down. I used a rogue merc too for extra dps. With external buffs + BIS weapons it would be fast.

I've done a semi self found playthrough with a Eurd pally as well up to lvl 62 or so. I tank main healed as well. It was SUPER fun.

Paladin's are a beast, I wish I had one at 120 for testing lol

@@hammackj got mine to 85 yesterday, gemmed his TBM armor to 85, and took him to house of thule lower floors today. Nice and tanky, but honestly, kinda boring. They just dont have any fun dps oriented stuff... and all those heals are completely unneeded at 85 with 120 buffs... stuff just falls over dead from the damage shield. He will be easy to level in those HOT zones though, because stuff just doesnt hurt him.

Oof... nofense, but yer bad at this leveling lowbie toons thing. Where is your damage shield pot buff? Drink them pots, triple yer dps. Defiant is all you need. (unless you are on a TPL server of course.) Defiant is stupid op at those levels. You will need to run the daily tasks with higher level toons to get the shoulders, belts, and capes. Wizo merc! (J1, do not use apprentice mercs, they bad) AE stance! PULL TRAINS! Of course this isnt actually playing the toon, but that's how you level to 75 in 6 hours. Ya should do it and make a vid just ta show yer audience how obscene it is. It's broken. And pretty damn fun. Did you stop at 52 and kill naggy? No? How could you? Heartless bastaad. No achievement for JOO! I leveled my alt army last year when I came back to eq, because I wanted to play the old zones again, but after 2 or 3 toons, it became "git er done" as fast as possible. So for real, get a wizo merc... also they dont run ahead and stop yer pulls... they pull for you! cuz... you know... casters. As far as nagafen/vox toons. I level them to 57 so they can buy intricate defiant from the vender and bazaar, get whatever pop armor has needed clickies, then sac them back down to 52. One toon can do it if you are super careful, but I'm sloppy, so bring two. Also a lot of fun, and should have at it for a vid, I'm sure everyone would love to see that old nostalgia content.

I am leveling a specific way on purpose, If I wanted to power level my characters I could; currently I have 12 120's. As for naggy/vox they are rarely up on my server and I can spawn them in the AOC instance whenever I want. I enjoy the experience of leveling and while I didn't with these characters as I use them for testing leveling spots for guide videos most of my characters are "Self Found" as in they have to loot the items themselves to use it. Maybe I will make a video on power leveling, I figured most people would find it boring.

@@hammackj I feel ya, I did start by playing the game the way it's meant to be played, but impatience took hold after a couple run throughs... Most players I know are always all about getting to the end game asap (myself included on the mains) because that's where the people are. And there isnt a whole lot of content out there to really walk people through in an 'all in one' sort of video. Ya just get a "leveling guide" for a particular level range, and then have to dig for "gear guides" completely seperate. I try to pick up returning players, and get them into broken mirror to get that gear. It's a godsend for leveling, as it's very high stats, and you arent looking to spend all your plat every 5 levels. So I do a lot of PLing of people to 75 still. Got 2 set up in the past week. Just trying to feed ya some ideas, as there is a lack of current content. There's only like 3 of ya making vids regularly. Just think a "hey use this wizo merc to level fast, and then do into the temple to get this gear" would help a lot of returning players, who are mighty overwhelmed.

@@hammackj I’m enjoying the process of all your videos. So far watched your Monk and paladin, as well as some necromancer. I enjoy the leveling process and I’m personally not of fan of power leveling as a new player. There’s a charm to this game that I appreciate and thanks for all your content. I’m enjoying it.
