EVERQUEST TEEK TLP - I tried the NEW TLP name reservation so you don't have to | Is it worth it???

Should you use the NEW Name reservation system in 2024 for the Teek TLP random loot server? It cost you 449 daybreak cash as a gold member and this is what you get???

Almost certain the intention here was you can reserve a name you've already been using, and the play time requirements are to make sure it is a name you've been active with in the past. They aren't allowing you to swoop in and potentially "buy" someone else's name out from under them if you've never held it yourself. That was always how I read the playtime requirements. It'd be weird if I, never having played as Nerdisto, could spend 500 dbc on a character with some other name but more playtime than you and grab the name first, and then claim to be you.

It makes sense to me. A lot of people will make a character but not play very long, taking up names. So the level check and play time is to check you will actually use that name you earned vs scooping up a name just because. Otherwise, anyone that has a character back from 1999 could log into a live server and grab any name they want from the moment name reservations started.

This is exactly what I expected. I assumed it would be so you could reuse the name of a favorite character. I've tried to start new characters on other servers using my favorite names, and they were already taken, so this is exactly what I needed. I logged in and purchased two name reservations slots, and then reserved one name with the character currently logged in, and then camped. I then logged in with my other favorite character and claimed the second reservation under their name. I'm positive you're only reserving the name, not anything else, so you won't be locked into playing a necro. I, however, do intend to use the same classes from my original characters on the new characters. This is great! Bloodtear the cleric and Mintyfresh the druid shall get to relive their early days.

I hope it's only the "name" that is reserved. I give them kudos for trying this fix the queue problem on opening week. It was (like you said) a big issue in the past. Windows popping up behind other windows, always confusing. Thankfully my longest played character was on Bertox, which allowed me to log in no matter what my current subscription was at.

it seems like you can only reserve the name of the character you have logged in. if you log another character in it’ll let you reserve that characters name

But that's the problem. I thought I could log in with a toon that had the playtime, but reserve a new name. Oh well, I was expecting a little more.

@@doctornachoz8099 you probably have the name but you can make any kind of character. When it comes tine to enter the server after creation you can used that name and it won't say its been chosen by anyone else. Its actually a good thing because it seems to prevent name campers/ resellers.
