Ask anyone who doesn't support Everton (or even some of their own fans) and they won't have a clue that Everton have 9 league titles and are 4th in country in terms of success. What a failing of Everton branding - this fact should be plastered into everyone's minds just like the Neanderthals talk up their CL wins.

Having watched Everton since the late 1950s, and seeing the 1963, 1970, 1985, and 1987 Championship teams i feel it a tragedy hearing young supporters, who having spent more than past fans following the team, say they have never seen success. Everton were once lucky to have the leadership of John Moore's who often felt the pulse of fans. And took action that day.! We often recruited players with strength of character skill and intelligence to cope with the heavy demands of the season. Look at many of Howard Kendall and David Moyes buys from the lower leagues who played a big part in their teams. The huge outlay recently, often brought in players who simply couldn't cope with trips to the likes of Newcastle or Leeds in the depth of winter nights. Whatever the reason no decent striker wasn't brought in, the failure to address the loss of form of Calvert Lewin could effect the club for years. Jermaine Beckford, Yakubu, Louis Saha, and Wayne Clarke are but a few whose instant goal scoring lifted their teams. Maybe an 8- goal striker since January might have unlocked goals from other players. and seen a higher points return.

As a villa fan, I feel the pain of relegation worries that Everton fans have. The main worry, is that football evolves. Dyche in theory is the right man for the job, but just being hard to beat and relying on 1-0 set piece wins won’t cut it now I don’t think. I hope Everton stay up.

Anything is possible, just look at Leicester City winning the Premier League title. And of course Liverpool won it after 30 years so I wouldn't really say that Everton could never return to their previous heights but obviously paying off the stadium will take time as it did with Arsenal when they moved to the Emirates. However, Everton's new stadium at Bramley Moor Docks is very impressive and iconic looking structure and will be part of the Everton folklore for many seasons to come. There will be all sorts of memories to be created here when it's eventually completed and the club are given the all-clear to move into their new home. But no matter what happens nobody can take away the history of Everton FC.

Crazy to think but a few seasons ago under Ancelotti we were top of the league for a bit and spent most of the season in the top 5, eventually finishing 10th after an abysmal end. Some of the signings we've made have been absolutely appalling. The management of the club has been farcical for some time now, the best part of 25 years. I hope we don't get relegated but have no complaints if we do. Just hope that it serves as a reset rather than years in the wilderness. Be the latter knowing Everton's luck.
@Sizdothyx

The management of the club hasn't been farcical. The recruitment and training/backroom staff have been. The upper management has poured loads of money into the club to buy absolute bums for players. Would have been interesting if Kendall would have stayed at Maine Road. I don't think we would have had 35 year wait for a major honour. Maybe not the league, but certainly the league Cup or the FA Cup. But the pull of going back to Everton was to strong as he stated at the time, City was the love affair, Everton was the Marriage. But his return never really worked out. He even went back in the summer of 97. Again he couldn't rekindle the good times at Goodison like he did in the 80s. Everton won the league in 1962 with Wednesday's manager and one of our best players Tony Kay the year after Wednesday were runners up to Tottenham's double winning team. Then Harry Catterick wanted to sign a good forward (Baker from Forest) but when the board invested in the cantalever stand instead Mr Catterick joined Everton. They don't deserve the hardship, but they have a billionaire owner who - I'm sorry to say - is somewhat a light version of the Glazers. He's happy to have this magnificent club under his wing. He doesn't care about how the football operations department is run. It's a toy collection for Moshiri, a thing to show off. I'm afraid he'll use the new stadium as an extension to that toy collection. The new stadium is brilliant, and it will help elevate the club. Everton needs an owner who is smart and will put the right persons in play..

- the majority of us have had to deal with it, unfortunately - whether you’re a Newcastle, Villa, West Ham fan..at some point you hit the worst of your decline. and granted it’s usually poor board and ownership-related decisions (like cuts in investing in new talent) that send you down. It becomes too difficult to compete with top half of the table teams - so ultimately you have your period of stagnation before eventually succumbing to relegation. All the best to Everton regardless, and I do think Dyche is the guy to keep you up, but there needs to be a “renewed” team spirit. A lot of the players seem loyal, but no one wants to take accountability for the results and lack of quality in the final third. It’s also bizarre to me that while I do think Pickford should be England’s #1…when i’m the last 30+ years have you ever seen an England #1 keeper not playing for a top 6 team?!

Everton need a direction and I don't know if the new stadium alone will be a viable option that will allow them to compete again. As it's not like they haven't had money previously but as it says in this video spent it badly. Everton fan here. We are down. You can't score goals, then you cannot win games. Five games under Dyche we've scored two goals. Our top scorers are Anthony Gordon, now at Newcastle, and Demarai Gray, who doesn't start games any more. We have no strikers capable of scoring goals, and none of our midfielders ever get on the scoresheet. We may get a few more lucky wins this season against teams who are already on their holidays in the final fixtures, but it won't be anywhere near enough. I'm quite confident that we'll finish in 20th place. If ever a club was deserving of relegation, it's Everton.

Recruitment is the biggest problem. Get a manager to galvanise the fans and the players and stop wasting money on poor players. As a Gooner, a friendly warning: a new stadium will not guarantee success. It's all about getting the right manager to change the culture. The owner seems to be putting the money in but it's being poorly spent. At the Emirates, when Stan Kroënke became the majority shareholder, he put money in but too much faith in the wrong people (recruitment, training, attitude). A few years after the right person is in charge, we're top of the league with a real chance of winning it. Don't be too down guys! Everton are an historic club and I believe one day, they'll be lifting silverware. The fanbase is too large and passionate for the club to whither away.

I don’t see how a stadium move is considered something to look forward to. Arsenal, West Ham and Tottenham have all digressed after moving stadiums. Man City are the only team to prosper, obviously due to the 1 billion player investment. I know Goodison is far from fit for purpose but I can’t see how relocating instead of redeveloping is going to benefit them. Until they get someone in who can manage their spending and transfers properly, there’s no benefit to this ‘extra revenue’.

It pains me as a red to see Everton doing so badly, we need a good and strong Everton so that we can return Merseyside Football back to the very top of English Football. I honestly believe that this new stadium will kill Everton, they have not been consistently bringing in enough revenue from gate receipts and prize money as well as top tier sponsorships to be able to pay for such a stadium and to build and sustain both first and reserve teams supported by strong youth teams as they had under Howard Kendall. Plus I honestly believe it to be sacrilege for Everton not to be playing at Goodison Park and I have seen far too many teams suddenly drop down to a status of non-competitiveness when they have had a new stadium constructed for them. Look at Arsenal with the Emirates for example, there they were wiping the floor with United consistently winning almost everything under Wenger and then they got themselves burdened with Stadium Costs that stripped them of the ability to sustain a strong team and they ended up as consistent also rans. What has happened with Spurs since Pochettino had them challenging for everything? I honestly felt they were half a step away from winning something nice and shiny until they got themselves lumbered with Stadium Costs and look at them now. The only thing that Everton have consistently challenged for over the last 30+ years is a place in the top flight with God knows how many relegation fights with some taking it right up until the final match of the season before they avoided the drop and now they have got themselves stuck with Stadium Costs that will prevent them from sustaining a strong enough team to compete for a place higher than 18th place. I know they seriously need to upgrade to a bigger and better stadium but even Liverpool have been cautious enough to take their upgrading one small step at a time whilst competing for trophies and managed to consistently juggle both costs of a new stadium and sustaining a strong team by taking baby steps. I believe that had both clubs spent 3 to 4 seasons sharing each clubs stadium in turn as each stadium was replaced we could have seen such big cuts to the financial costs of both teams by by up to 50% and we could have seen those very same savings of both clubs over a 6 to 8 year period being invested completely into both clubs first two teams to make them both strong enough and competetive enough to consistently compete/fight for silverware and the related prize monies plus the bigger and better sponsorship deals that come with success.

That fan said 'The fans are the football club' - well, that used to be true but it's not anymore tbh. The Premier League is not an English league - it's a world league - the matches just happen to be played in England (for now) The owners, managers, and players are majority non-English.....for example, there are more Premier league fans in Asia than there are in England. If the stadiums were full of tourists and invited guests the Premier League wouldn't care as the money comes from the TV audience and the worldwide online streaming audience. (Viewers in the middle east don't care who's in the seats) The local match-attending fans are of least concern to the PL, hence why they are treated so badly. Football has unfortunately moved on from what it was meant to be - local clubs for the local community - it's now a worldwide business and that has changed the game forever - and beware - the ESL is coming, PL matches being played overseas are coming (in the middle east, Asia and the US) and the local fans will eventually be lost to the game. It started with the breakaway and formation of the PL back in 1992 and it's snowballed ever since. It's all coming so don't be surprised when it happens.

Unfortunately “Greatness” in today’s game is defined by the financial wealth of a club’s owners. Were City and Chelsea (under Abramavich) successful without their billionaire backers? No, both experienced relegation when it was solely down to the clubs themselves to provide financing. Everton can be great again if they are taken over by a fiscal powerhouse, but that can be said about any football team. It’s not about the club itself anymore, it’s all about the owners.
Why did Everton move from Anfield to Goodison Park?
