Tell you what, you’re gonna be absolutely shocked when I tell you the stats for Cyprus. 15: Greece 4: Malta 2: Iceland, Sweden 1: Belarus, France, Hungary, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, United Kingdom, Yugoslavia Additionally, the hybrid system would’ve resulted in 12’s from Greece in 17 and 18 (there’s a shock, and their twelve in 16 would’ve still gone to Russia), as well as top marks from Armenia and Slovenia in 18. Additionally, let us spare a thought for the years Greece didn’t give their 12 to Cyprus when they had the chance (83, 85, 89, 90, 92, 93, 95, 15, and 16 - bonus points for 85, 90, and 15 where apparently neither one impressed the other enough for the usual exchange of twelves, and for 83 where they didn’t even vote for Cyprus!)

It’s probably gonna be more lopsided in favor of Greece when we get to them, since there was a decent stretch where Greece qualified over Cyprus (unlike Cyprus, however, they usually weren’t alone in giving Greece top marks). I think they must’ve had some kind of deal while there were juries that one of them could send a really good song and the other could send an ok one so that one could give the other twelve but they weren’t necessarily trading twelves every year. Checks out when you check how the two alternated in fortunes every year (save for the fluke in 95 where Cyprus finished top ten and Greece didn’t): Greece gave twelve to Cyprus in 81, 87, 91, 94, 96, and 97, almost all of which had Cyprus finish top ten over Greece. Then, Cyprus gave 12 to Greece in 83, 87, 89, 92, 93, 94, 95, and 97, all but two of which saw Greece finish top ten either in place of or alongside Cyprus. I need something better to do with my time.
