This was great, PieGuy! I think because of how complex Adventure Time can be as a series, it will give you a lot more to talk about than SpongeBob ever did. I am very much looking forward to future season reviews! Quick question, though: How will you be organizing seasons 7-10? Cartoon Network split those seasons up in a very odd way that goes against how it was intended to be presented. Adventure Time was only supposed to actually have nine seasons.

The Enchiridion came out on my 10th birthday! I don't think I saw it that day, but Adventure Time was a big part of my childhood and my brother and I would always go to our neighbor's( his best friend) house to watch cartoon network and watched them when they premiered and it's cool that a really significant episode came out that day when I was 10. I'm now 20 and the show still means a lot to me.

Just hearing you set up this series made me so excited. Living for the fun facts. Learning so many new things about this show. It has so many small details. Very excited for this series!!! I honestly have so many fond memories about this show. Honestly the episode Tree Trunks, Wizard and His Hero are probably some of my favorite episodes. They just feels cozy and silly to me. Can remember watching them with my dad and brother and loving it. I also just really liked see such interesting wild seeming characters in all of them.

I have to say I'm so happy to see these kinds of retrospective reviews. I haven't seen a lot of Adventure Time, but I still get so much out of these videos. The only thing I wanted to comment on was the morals of Freak City. It is true that Magic Man is a jerk and turned Finn into a foot because he wanted to, but it's not like Finn and Jake were selfless. Jake says they should give the homeless man candy because "what if he is a wizard in disguise and he gives us something for being nice?" So it's a combination of the moral you brought up, as well as "You should be nice to people solely because it's the right thing to do". Which I think is really interesting. Can't wait for the season 2 video!

Just finished season 1 and thought it was awesome Lsp and marcline are my fav 2 characters so far. However I do feel sorry for ice King. He just wants friends, the voice actor got the perfect range of sad and lonely but angry. You mention Lsp being 16 and he kidnapped yet in later season when bubblegum princess deages, ice King is like nope not for me I outta here Your Lsp accent and George tekai accents were awesome. Cant wait to watch season 2 and see your review

Yes! One of my favorite seasons! 11:25 Honestly it might be a generational thing, that trail mix joke has intense boomer energy lol, it has that innocent humor that a lot of older peeps vibe with. I can see why he’d find it funny. I find the ice king being crazy to be good, I've always thought of him as unhinged and villainous, but he’ s one of the few characters I don’t have a problem with regardless of what they do with him. 7:04 Fantastic impersonation lmao. 12:30 I always thought the dimensional bit felt out of place, I don’t mind it though, I love last minute decisions like that, especially when she blew up, I cracked up so hard my chest began hurting, it was so good. That’s the nutty energy I love from AT. 15:00 The word enchiridion was so cool to me when I was younger, heck, it STILL is. Your highlight is hilarious. 18:18 It’s typical, but my favorite moment is when the jiggler almost dies, so morbid but finns panic was played well imo. I certainly feel like they were experimenting, but it ended being more generic than it should’ve been. 22:22 The endings keep blowing it out of the park, I thought it was hysterical when finn couldn’t lose weight and jake just vibed. It was a so-so episode, a little low energy but passable compared to what would come down in the later years, might’ve been an omen. 29:05 Adventure times randomness really was its bread and butter. 30:43 Finns quote is out current implementation of communism lol 31:11 [cries in steven universe scheduling] 36:30 Absolutely agreed, the mixing between visual humor and punchlines Is the absolute highlight of this ep. Rapid succession is also one of the best things about the simpsons!! 41:24 I love how blatantly inappropriate the show got, that’s a fantastic time. 44:10 This is one of my favorite episodes of AT by far, it’s so freaking hilarious, the freakouts and BONKERS overreactions are just SO amazing. Peak finn imho. This is my favorite energy. 44:44 Pat was one of the best things to happen to AT, I’m bummed that he left, since AT was never the same, but honestly OTGW was wonderful, so it doesn’t sting. Bless that man. 55:05 This was on the weaker episodes from S1, jake was a contrarian for the sake of being a contrarian, though finn kicking everyone still got a good laugh out of me. My quote favorite quotes are “Kim, I will destroy you!” and “Get his eyes, cut him in the eyes”, it’s such a bizarre comedic situation.

57:05 Donny was honestly pretty telling on how different the shows attitude was back then, they’re pretty much making fun of what they’d become later down the line, donny definetly does harsh the goodfeel flow, but it does some notable things, like nice Donny being a tongue in cheek staple of goody two shoe characters like steven universe, where everything he does usually follows happy singing, in a pacifisticic way, so in that sense, it was pretty good, almost prophetic you can say. I really like how they turned some of those tropes on their head, buuuuuuut didn’t really have a decent execution, it’s kinda weak, but I can get a lot of info out of it. I thought Donny being portrayed as a jerk was an acceptable call, not his actual character, just how he was called out and not glorified (until the end that is), it ended with him being sorta thankful, but it was definitely a more sour note. This show at that current point in time pokes fun at different extremes in personalities people have, and really enjoy that, it’s pretty clear that their message was you can’t always have things in absolutes, but then goes and does that anyway, so there's not really a strong message you can get outta this, I still appreciate what it managed to do, but those ideas and dynamic could've been carried farther and with more finesse. All in all it was subversive for the sake of being subversive in a way that is NOT subversive, it almost does the job, but leaves a bad taste in your mouth with not much else, so that’s a bust. I’m very mixed on it, it’s one of the more interesting ones that’s for sure. I always have more to say in terms of knowing why an episode is so troubling. 1:03:44 It definitely made things more interesting when they didn’t show what they were imagining. That’s creative in itself. Very fun episode! Peak adventure time slice of life type humor, I only say that because they stay inside. 1:08:11 Finn is based, jake is based, billy is based. Everyone is likable, very high umami but the city bit ruined the pacing a little bit. Still, what they managed to do was hilariously executed, I like the dynamic old vs young, and how billy was inspired by finn. 9/10 episode. Favorite quote “what did you do to me…?!”, perfect blend of coolness and comedy. 1:10:10 Honestly, that part was the best part, I expected it, but I thought it wasn’t gonna happen near the end, then it did, and they played the hug completely straight, I cackled when you said it was low hanging fruit because it’s so true. Even if not subversive, It’s deadpan delivery that AT is known for. That’s all I can really say about it, the jake smashing scene was pretty rad. Season 1 is still pretty strong for me. The worst is just a so-so feeling, but it’s a more positive reception than how pretentious the show later became, I’d rather have another Donny ep than the bee finn macked on in breezy. Your top 5 is definitely what adventure time is supposed to be and remain as, bubbly stupid heart pumping energy and pure undiluted wacky fun, it has adventure, and a very fresh soul, so much freshness, so very much of it. You gave me a newfound appreciation for ricardio as well.

My favorite episode of Season One by a mile is Wizard. One of the funniest episodes of the whole show imo. The absurdity of the tasks, especially the first one of eating brooms, Bufo not being able to talk at the same time, Jake's jab at unattractive people, Bufo punching Finn in the face for being hysterical, Jake using the Sleep spell, Finn using the Awake spell on the rock, Bufo putting the last wizard in a coffin, and I could go on. Every joke lands so well and cracks me up.

Loved the video, it was great revisiting the early episodes. Maybe you could consider a ranking system for the seasons instead of a score? This way we can differentiate between the amount of "good" scores we'll get and we can rather see how they stack up against each other while the reviews continue!

You forgot to mention that Business Time had the first Mushroom War hints. Ordinary 21st century businessmen frozen in ice, playing on the trope of cavemen being frozen in ice and released in the present day, to illustrate that something completely ordinary in the 21st century is now considered as ancient as cavemen. That's not to mention the businessmen's skin is green and tumorous, implying they'd been irradiated.

I was worried you weren’t gonna mention the snail. Me and my friends watched these episodes as they aired and when we went to school the next day, we’d all be like “DID YOU SEE THE SNAIL?”, it honestly added a lot to the show.

Nice editing! Like many kids in 2010 I watched the premiere of Adventure Time. It lured me back to CN after the whole CN Real mess. Then I fell off at some point before entering High School. I would like to watch it from the very beginning one day.
