I am a dogwalker in NYC. I love working with animals, understanding them, connecting with them and working with each other's body languages and needs. I love watching your videos. They are goals on how I want to live life. I hate living here. The crowded subways, the mayor that does not care about us, police brutality, racism, the people in my communities that push by you so that they can cross the street before you do. I hope one day I can transition to a homestead like you.

Animals are so loving & forgiving. They are in tune with everything around them. And they can figure out who needs them more. That's why you will see an animal will favor one family member over another. They are great therapy for everyone, not just for someone on the spectrum.

@@BeckysHomestead I have always kept my Poodles cut short. I take them to the groomer about every 6 weeks. With that, I give them a bath every 2 weeks at home, so I think their grooming is minimum. That said, if you let their hair grow out, then the home grooming gets to be tedious and the groomer bill gets higher, the longer you wait between visits. I prefer any of that to tons of shedding in my house that most all other dogs, who have fur, produce.

Thank you for sharing about your Aspergers and how your animals have helped you. My animals have helped me too. Maybe you could share about how you make human friends some time, you seem to have found a way to do that. I'm 69 and have to ask my children for help in that area all the time. They make and keep friends like it's the easiest thing in the world. I don't know if I have Aspergers or not but out of lack of a better term I just call it "socially challenged". It's not really very fun feeling like I'm from another planet.

1st video for me. I am 66 and have wondered if I have Aspergers. So glad I clicked on this suggested video. I felt like I knew you right away. Two first observations. Even though some of your animals are older they all look in great condition. Second, That all if your animals have been with you so long. Its refreshing to see a youtube channel with years of videos that doesn’t get new animals all the time, or huge variety, maybe it helps views? Admire your long term commitment. They clearly adore you, even the mule. 😃

My daughter has Autism and she has a special connection with animals too. We have a dog, 2 cats and 6 chickens. She is very attached to them all. Even all the strays that come around along with the critters that stroll thru our property.

I never had time before to get to actually know my pets to the point I know exactly what they want and understand them. I know they think of me as their mom. I would say any child has to be taught and supervised while around any animal, because animals are not toys! So many parents treat animals like toys and just give them to their kids. That is so sad.☀️❤️☀️

Enjoyed your video! I have learned so much about caring for your animals from you! I have started my horses and donkey on DE for dewormer. Hoping it works. I have limited pasture so I’m constantly feeding hay and trying to keep the parasite load down. I’m working on paddocks to rotate to help. I’m also ordering my hoof jack to start trimming their feet. Would love to see some training videos. I have 2 walking horse fillies I’m trying to start under saddle. One of which is proving to have some dominant attitude. Especially when I’m claiming my space. Anyway, I’d love some tips. I have watched a bunch of Steve young videos and have learned a lot but it’s still nice to see someone else put it into practice. Thx

Just some good advice, don’t overload a small property. Nobody is happy like that. Animals like a lot of room. Unhappy animals display behavior problems, because they don’t get enough exercise. It also helps to wait to break them until they are at least 3. ☀️❤️☀️

Becky, we had to abandon our working homestead in Tennessee and move to Manatee County Florida to care for an elderly sister. We have to live for now with her in a 55 plus park. Love your homestead and content. Gentle suggestion: Asberger's is no longer identified as part of the Autism spectrum, it's now called "high-functioning autism". Our daughter was diagnosed with Asberger's many years ago, and at the time the terminology was shifting. In all medical discussions it's high-functioning autism now. To the extent it matters, Asberger was a truly horrible human being and the medical profession has moved to more clearly describe the condition without his association.

I hate conditions with long titles and to exacerbate the long title problem they start useing letters!!!!!! Everything is just a bunch of letters now! There are no perfect titles and at least everyone knows what Asperger’s is.☀️❤️☀️
