And now we pretty much already know who the grey people on the planet are the surviving corrupted survivors from the boss battle just more complete forms that Rockwell probably was making during the middle of the battle the corrupted survivors we fought or probably a mark one or prototype version of the gray people we see in the Ark 2 trailer. Meaning that even is Rockwell did not survive directly (I would not put it past him to survive since he survived his destruction on aberration and aberration crashing into Earth which sent the Lifeboat into space in the first place)he survived indirectly as the threat in the second game by creating the main human-like enemy that we fight

And then we finally get to see a key part of the story, Helena.. albeit a fragment.. and she is taken from us again. God. HLNA is a AI Helena created before she ascended, HLNA has some personality of Helena, but not her though (HLNA is still existing somewhere when she backed herself up, you can see her appearing in holographic form in the Mek the survivor was in, the hardware coverings prolly blew up when Rockwell and the vessel was collapsing). Rockwell is prolly the only person dying there, but could still exist to continue Ark 2 story if Wildcard ran out of idea and brought Rockwell back for some reason lmao (it's my speculation as to what happened, so its not gonna be 100% correct)

I miss The Island. It's a very pretty, primitive map with a lot of nostalgia for the early game. It doesn't go too crazy with mythical creatures and corrupted worlds- it's just a nice, simple, dinosaur survival game.

Here's what I want. A smidge of Rockwell flesh from the explosion crashes to earth and becomes one, tiny creature. It's friendly since Rockwell finally got his closure at the end, and it's like a chibi that can follow you. Also a smidge of HLN-A survives and is basically the same thing.

I’ve been playing this game for 6 years now and I’ve gotta say that it’s still my favorite game even though I’ve raged the most amount of times on ark than on any other game, I’ve got almost 8.000 hours in the game and somehow it’s still like new everytime I play it

For me, the ascension off of the Island was the most gratifying. Learning the game, collecting all the trophies and all of the artifact cave runs for BPs - plus breeding for the boss fights and getting those dinos to obelisk x3 (gamma, beta and alpha). Then moving the army through the tek cave.... that took some serious work as a solo player.

ive never ascened and i feel terrible for it cause i have a long deep passion for ark. the only reason for it is simple, levels, i spend almost 3 days finding a baryonx higher then level 90 and when i do. it dies on the first xp run. Though dont get me started on a high level rex those never come around no matter how hard i look. also as a kid i dont have the same freedom as adults to play whenever for however long so im also limited...

Not gonna lie, beating all of these bosses on official pvp was quite emotional spending months breeding taming planning only to be crushed and rebuild time and time again untill the almost impossible happen. Cant help getting emotional when watching the endings again, and not only reflect on the survivor, but the friends and enemies i made along the way. Constant anxiety and determination paid off. Im exited for one last adventure. And for ark 2? Well see weather it wil be worth anything. Long live the 112s

I think that, in some capacity, they did have it planned. There are an idea, but not the pieces to reach that idea. Genesis though was definitely not planned, as the writers for it were different than from The Island to Extinction.

@@adamneustel3938 There's actually a really good theory from a person that also blends in with the explorer notes for gen2: (r(ArkLore) u/ZafakD): Spoilers... "Presumably The matter of the body is made digital when uploaded but physical items are dropped to the ground. Hence why when you upload a creature, they leave a bag containing their saddle and inventories but their body disappears. I believe that Helena is sill on earth, she created HLN-A to act on her behalf outside the solar system. Presumably Homo deus cannot be in two places at once and her focus was on ensuring that the reseed protocol kept working. The following is a reply that I recently posted to a similar question elsewhere: Arat prime is like a tek transmitter linked to the ship. The ship was built first and sent out while its builders helped another group with the ark project. The arks took longer to build as there were so many to place in orbit. Even though the group that build the ship thought that their project was the more likely to succeed, they were allied with the group who thought that building arks was the most likely to succeed. And since they both had the same goals, saving earth life and humanity, they were working together on both projects. Once the last ark was sent into orbit, those who worked on the ship returned to Arat prime and uploaded themselves onto the ship the same way that the survivor moves between arks. Rockwell was respawned whenever he died on Aberration as he had taken the place of the overseer of that ark. So when his ark was called back to earth and crashed, he was respawned in the overseer room. He made his way to Arat prime, having knowledge of earth's technology from his time as an overseer, and uploaded himself to the ship. When he arrived, the ship would have cloned him a new body and uploaded his mind into it, complete with every ability he gained from both element corruption and his integration into his ark as an overseer. The majority of people on the ship would be in pods, living in the genesis (or other) simulations or simply stored as digital DNA to be cloned upon arrival to the habitable planet, like Santiago was in the ending cinematic. The few that were awake on the ship, the crew, were not expecting and not prepared to deal with the unexpected appearance of a tentacled monstrosity that understood the workings of the ship. He then rampaged his way to the control room, killing the crew and began integrating himself into the bridge of the ship. Helena, not knowing that Rockwell was alive, created HLN-A and transmitted HLN-A and the survivor who saved earth (you) to the colony ship, presumably to report that the ark project had succeeded as well as assist the colonization of whatever habitable planet the ship found. When we arrived, Rockwell has successfully integrated into the ship and has split his attention between the real world and the simulation. He was using the genesis simulation to corrupt people who were in their pods as well as explore human history/fight loneliness, per statements that HLN-A made fixing some glitches in genesis part 1. He is also refining his control of the corruption's mutation abilities by controlling the evolution of life on one of the rings, Rockwell's garden, while also cloning into existence some of his favorite creations from aberration, which is why we have aberration creatures there. Meanwhile, the ship is jumping from one star system to another every 24 hours, looking for a habitable world. Normally, this would give the crew 24 hours to survey the solar system for habitable worlds and gather resources from asteroids before the ship jumps to a neighboring system at midnight. With Rockwell in control, he is looking for habitable worlds and fighting our efforts to challenge his control of different ship systems via the missions. This explains the lunar biome's resources and why they change every night at midnight."

Reading how humanity brought on its own apocalypse, staining the world with element and finding new ways to keep humanity alive after everything that has happened is probably the best story I have read and heard (btw took me 3 days to read all the ark notes 😂)

What if in ark 2 we find out that the corruption was NEVER truly destroyed, and those things that attacked Santiago are actually a more developed and evolved version of Rockwell creation. And their are also bits of Rockwell’s experiments roaming the lands as new creatures to be tamed. :)

@@thecastleofnothing7074 Well technically Helena is dead as by the time we complete extinction Helena has already been a homodeus for so long that she is starting to lose herself. By the time genesis 2 concludes she is long gone. After all genesis 1 took place before extinction and genesis 2 takes place thousands of years later ( I’m fairly certain I saw something about it being thousands of years after extinction.

So is it just me or is anyone else randomly feeling like crying sitting through 6 years of memories finally coming to an end, cus i surprisingly found myself choking up by extinction's ending.. And at the end of genesis 2. Oof... Gotta say love how the devs managed to humanize rockwell in his final moments. I honestly felt bad for him. He was mad with power. But that power came from confusion. And after being forced to die as the aberration overseer before coming back to life as it crashed i can understand why he was so determined to spread his will across the cosmos. Not for the typical evil villian wants to rule the universe....but because of a basic human fear. He was scared. He died once. He didnt want to die again. He was running from the inevitable. And in the end. When hes at his most scared and with no escape. He reached out for his only real friend before he fell. Hoping she would grant him peace in his final moment. Funny how my gf didnt feel bad or understand rockwell but me. His lines (expertly delivered by david btw) they struck hard.

I bet that you'll be able to interact with NPCs with your max level character from Ark one as this most definitely directly leads into Ark 2 similar to how Mass Effect did the progression of save files between games for 1 2 and 3

Aberration is probably my favorite soundtrack overall, but there are individual tracks from each chapter of ARK that I really love. Gareth Coker did a fantastic job.

Actually we might. The biomes didn’t explode with the ship as we see in the ending. It’s possible that the creatures could survive. In ark 2 trailer we see pteranodons and a Rex which shouldn’t even exist on an alien planet so that’s enough proof that the creatures do survive. Regardless we will get cooler creatures as time progresses.

the Maewing can produce every kind of kibble!!! IT is the one creature needed for farming kibble!!!! I love this creature!!!! (The Maewing produces diffrent eggs, Basic Maewing Egg, Superior Maewing Egg and all of the other kinds)

in the ark 2 trailer I think what’s making all of the space pods break is the debris from the sails of the ship.

When you think about it all your bases, tames, and items on that ship are destroyed.... damn and all you get is a exo suit with a limited amount of fuel left before it ejects you into the void of space.

You can really tell that Extinction was their original end game plan. Outside of just keeping the game going Genesis 1 & 2 seems to only exist possibly to help fund ARK 2.

I think the genesis survivor is a different survivor. I remember HLN-A said the colony ship was launched generation's ago in search of a new planet because in extinction you can see trees and all that regrowing
