It looks great. Gave me some goosebumps. They could do SO much with Ark I.P. The story behind everything is so great. Their world building is lacking but all the notes let you figure the story out your self. I just wish they would fill it in like they just did with Diana. And like you said you can't trust anything they say. There's no chance it's good news with no news. That combined with all the monetization makes it look like they have moved on. I hope I'm wrong but I have a feeling once. Going from completely free to completely paid with the AsA updates. They are raking it in without having to pay for a whole new game to be designed. I have a feeling after genesis they will announce more asa ip and back track on ark 2. I'll still play it though! I stuck with overwatch I'll stick with them.

Syntac, if Extinction has constant day light, that means the Earth is tidally locked, it still rotates. If the Earth didn't rotate, there would still be a day/night cycle but one day would take half a year and night would be the other half.

Umm I think you're mistaken... slightly. The moon has a day/ night cycle cause it's tidal-locked to earth, but that means the same face of the moon is always facing us. If earth were tidal locked to the sun, then Syntac is correct in his hint that the opposite side would be in perpetual darkness provided that there is no day/ night cycle in the Sanctuary. I think you're thinking tidal-lock is just a pure lack of rotation on its axis, which would be understandable given some of the cross-facts provided.

Frozen, permanently nighttime map? Troodons are going to be horrifying. Also I’m still confused as to WHEN Diana and Santiago had the time to make a baby given that she died on Aberration and came back after Santiago died

Diana? Guess Mei yin has to die. Which kinda makes sense seeing animated mei yin before lost colony. And a cool thing about the cold lost colony idea and stopped earth. Earth didnt technically "stop" rotating. Its just rotating at the same speed it goes around the sun meaning every "day" lasts a full year. This is called tidal locking and is the exact same thing the moon does with earth now. So extinction being on the bright side receiving constant light is great. Its warm or hot or skin melting depending on how close to the "noon point" you want to travel. But if lost colony is on the cold side. Its night. Permanently. And ark has not as much moon anymore. "Oh no our moon, its broken" thus this map will be consistent PAIN if followed through with. Violent storms and already known metor showers will blot out sky making the perpetual dark darker. Again extreme cold is already an issue in ark but that is a seriously exciting concept. So yeah. Aside from whatever Ai monstrosity with nails on a chalkboard quality of voice acting they turned Helena into this looks sick! Also kinda hope they go back and fully remaster these cutscenes because oh boy is it jarring to suddenly see ASE ghillee and creatures. Kinda neat but eh too. Oh and the "Diana?" Was in reference to her being maia or mia or whatever's mom/vin deisels wife (he does not get to be called santiago he has no cool beard). Quick rundown of Diana: - Diana first appears ab. - Has an important romantic relationship with Mei Yin - Dies to rockwell. - Is the first clone ever re-revived via the Ark System. By Helena-deus "screwing with the wiring" and thus forming the story explanation for the respawn system. She also still probably remembers everything from aberration since she was ressurected by the ark system and only 1 of her mind or engramic matrix soul things was active. But this basically means that somewhere in the new map's story the beast queen somehow fuckin died permanently or the two seperate for some reason. Or both. Or neither. Because it could very well be, mei yin and santiago like 4.0 are married to different Diana Altara. Just like how multiple Santiago exist. Brief Santiago thing Santiago 1.0 -> original Santiago. Terran Federation Hackerman. Pretty much responsible for the design of most of the weapons that destroy a bunch of humanity in the tek war. Santiago 2.0 -> colony ship santiago number 1. He's not in vin deisel's body yet but here's there helping design or maintain the systems of the Arks and the colony ships with heavily alterred memories. He dies, somehow. I don't remember. He was cloned by the systems aboard federation colony ship Genesis. Santiago 3.0 -> the best santiago. Ark system santiago. Cloned and spawned into aberration. Has all memories of his atrocities, has to cope with it and make use of it. BUT he doesn't remember his time on the Genesis. Then he convinces the tek tribe to do a little trolling (NUKE THE FUGGIN OVERSEER). Designs the aberration to earth portal. Designs all of the ways to make tek critters like enforcers ours. Designs or redesigns meks and either adds, previously added, or helena-deus adds said design to the system and now OSDs have them inside of them. And designs the mega mek to kill the king titan. Then Dies permanently (?) and has a beatiful gravesite. Pile o' dirt with a mek sword in it. Santiago 4.0 -> Vin diesel. Family. Respawned again. Probably more about Family. We know nothing yet but I swear if he remembers extinction without explanation Im gonna wring someone's neck in the writing room. Damn. Long tangent. Short wrap up. - i hate helena's design in every way now. - lost colony has so much potential - ark 2 has so much potential - tidal locking is cool.

On Extinction the Earth is tidally locked with the sun it's still rotating but in a specific way that only one side faces the sun. In real life our Moon is tidally locked to earth thats why we've never seen the dark side of the moon.

If the Sun is always shining in one place, that doesn't mean the Earth is not rotating - it mean that the Earth's rotation around it's axis is the same time as it's orbit around the sun (so 1 day = 1 year), the same way that today the Moon is locked with the Earth. Would Earth NOT rotate at, you would have half a year of night and half a year of day. Easy home experiment - take a light bulb and a ball with something drawn, to help imagine that his is where you are on it - try walking around the bulb with the ball and see how the ball is being and the drawing are being lit up. You'll figure it out in no time :)

Earth IS spinning on its axis. But at a rate that is in sync with it's sun orbit. Hence why one side always faces the sun. But it is actually still spinning. If Earth was NOT spinning then it would have a day time and a night time that would be seasonal throughout the orbital year.

I'm in no way an expert on the ark lore, but I'm pretty sure you play as a survivor that came looooooong after the story characters, which is why all of their notes are in old ruins throughout the maps, so I think when Bob talk about killing a titan, I think that's the giant fossil syntac points out near the end of the video, and Helena is only still around because she's an immortal circulatory system with a head

The old VA and model for helena was much better, i am a bit biased towards amber but this was my first exposure to her work and it was much better than what we have now with the new VA, amber made helena sound more like a god or angel, the new VA sounds like shes whispering in your ear, not talking to you from 8ft away while floating, she also sounds way too soft for helenas personality at this point in the story, shes good for the animated series but amber was much better for the game.

This is awesome! Im still "updating" the game. 3+ hours in time: now haha... I know there's many things to, in a sense, wonder why its not this or that but, Wildcard and party seem to be more worried about telling the story they can be proud of. Regardless of what people say along the way. Someone commented here that they might be waiting for the next major UE engine update before they "optimize" the game. If that's true, I can understand why they would rather wait than optimize now and then again within such a short amount of time. That's just money, resources, etc wasted just for a brief moment of happiness for the community cause we all know 'sh!t happens.' Telling the story, again, and adding the Lost Colony DLC under UE 5 was a good choice. These people trying to make a living too. I personally wouldn't do more work for free just to make a bunch of GAMER people happy. Make yourselves happy, learn some patience and understanding. Until its blatantly obvious they're literally saying 'F you, take this, we dont care' in words or obvious actions, there's zero reason to really complain as much as people have. Play it or don't. Simple as that! For the rest of us; ooof! Now I can't wait for Lost Colony DLC to see how the story(ies) connects/continues!
