This adjustment is what the new berkley stunnas 112s have done to them. They are slow sinking instead of suspending like MB 110s. Something that Hank Cherry really keyed in on and mentioned during both classics.

It just depends on how fast I want the bait to sink / float. The number of wraps will change based on the specific jerkbait and hooks you're using, along with the water temperature. I just try 2-3 wraps, put the bait in the water then adjust based on how I want the bait to fall.

Listen up you ice out basser. You wanna get those bass to bite in the coldest H2O. The falling jerkbait mod is key. Get a gram scale and weight your components. Also… in my waters I fish, you can simplify this rig by adding an owner oval #3 split ring to the 110. .03 grams heavier. Super slow fall. 10sec/1ft If they biting it. Pick up your glide and hang on. PB on the way.

No, this works without Livescope as well. I would just work my bait back normally and assume fish are following it on every cast, then stop the bait for 15 seconds about 2/3 of the way back to the boat with the jerkbait weighted. You won't know if the fish are following it, but it will work if they are.

I added wire to my trebles and put a split shot 2’ up the line. The split shot pulls it down nose first and suspends those hooks off the bottom. But that wasn’t enough to escape the downed trees in New Melones, so I’m switching to weedless worms.

I normally use 10 or 12lb fluorocarbon unless its really cold outside. If air temps are below 30 degrees, I use mono.
@phatpakbaits
@phatpakbaits 2 жыл бұрын
I think what’s tough is the weighting has to be done in the water yur fishing that day , and this has to be a constant adjustment, as water temps rise or fall . If you weight em at home the water yur weighting in won’t be the same temp as the lake. Because of this it’s deterred me from making these adjustments with the already limited time i have on the water . It’s good advice though because dialing in the bite is super important
@ricksonora6656
@ricksonora6656 2 жыл бұрын
Temp varies with depth, too; so, unless the lake is shallow, you’re still guessing. So might as well guess the temp and approximate it at home. Q: Does colder water make lures sink faster, or slower?

Do you always alter fall by messing around the hook or hook area? Or do you use suspend strips or other lead stickers?
@FishtheMoment
@FishtheMoment 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve never been able to keep the lead stickers attached to the bait without using super glue. But then you can’t take the lead of easily if you need to change the weighting. Changing the hooks or adding a few wraps of lead wire have worked the best for me

We are still working on adding Tidal charts for rivers like the Potomac, then linking that up with our strategy algorithm. This is an extremely timing consuming process to get right. We are not adding tidal rivers because the answers would not be accurate without accounting for the tides. We are working on this, but it will still take a while to get right. We are proud of the accuracy of our recommendations and will only add lakes when we are confident in the strategy output.
