I feel like I finally found what books I like and it makes me so happy that I can actually enjoy books again. I used to read a lot of fantasy when I was younger, and in 2020 I couldn’t read anything for some reason. But now I realize that every time I actually finish and enjoy a book it’s realistic fiction. So basically my mind was telling me that it can’t take all that fake stuff and it just wants to see stuff it recognizes in the real world. So yeah. And I only started reading in 2021 cause of you. Bye!

Hi, I don’t pretend to be rude but I just wanted to point out that Mariana Enriquez it is not magical realism. She is one of the most important writers in the Fantastic genre (not the same as fantasy). The difference is basically that magical realism insert fantasy elements into the world in the story and this doesn’t really bother anyone, they just accept it as part of their world, like in One hundreds years of solitude. While in fantastic literature something that messes with the reality of the story and disrupts the everyday life of one of the characters or more. It was originally associated with ghosts or paranormal elements, but not exclusively. For example The sandman by E.T.A. Hoffman. This genre has change a lot since the romanticism and specially in Latin America, where it is really popular now a days. Also the fantastic genre it is pretty tied to social criticism, in Mariana Enríquez she usually makes references to the last Argentinian dictartorship or the financial crisis that Argentina faced in the 90’s and the consequences those events had on common people. Sorry for the nerdy rant.. Love your videos.

Think YA fantasy, Kaz Brekker-esque protagonist, cheeky romance subplot, found family/ gang adventure and beautiful beautiful setting taking you from victorian London to Alexandria. I found your youtube at the start of 2021 and man your content got me through a rough senior year. Whenever i read something you recommend it’s nearly always a five star read so if you’re looking for a new series to 2022 (though i’m sure your tbr is already full) the Great Library pentology (?) is a gem!! One fae book I read last year was Arden Powell's Faerie hounds of York which was... something, a bit dry for my taste though. It's adult fantasy lgbt+ romance, written in like.. oldish English since it's set in olden times. The other fae thing I found last year was Ancient Magus's Bride which both infuriated me and healed me? Btw Cari did you know there's a manga series where all the characters are named after real authors (like Dazai Osamu, Edogawa Ranpo, Christie etc), they have superpowers, half the characters are detectives and the other half are in the mafia.. ? Oh My Gosh! When you said Trolls in the intro I immediately thought 'No way is she talking about Stolen Songbird! ' I read that book sooo long ago and never continued with the series. But it's one of the few books I vividly remember a couple details and the very general plot (I have a terrible memory.) I remember thinking it was odd and I didn't love it but I was really curious how it ended. I've recently gotten back into reading and thought I have to read the 2nd and 3rd book eventually. But this is so amazing you giving spoilers so now I know the end and don't have to! (It sounds terrible and I'm glad I didn't have to waste time on it) I mostly really remember the binding with the magical tattoos that are normally silver because the Trolls are "children of the moon" but the Prince's ends up gold because the main girl is a "child of the sun" which I thought was cool.
