Crazy to finally be able to say that regularly and not be nervous wondering how they are gonna blow it. Its been rough being a Lions fan, and thankfully they recognize and appreciate the inexplicable support they have gotten over the past decades. They have ruined Thanksgiving so many times blowing the game. And to be fair, they got bad refs and bad calls so many times. My uncle... he took it personally and couldn't let it go. He is a TV Screamer and armchair QB cus he played and coached HS Football. He would calm down and be silent for 10 minutes, eating, and then unprovoked, be all pissed off all over again. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Your final statement summed it up. I completely agree. What other mythos be it movie, toy line etc.. has this many great in depth villains? And heroes for that matter. But you can't have a great hero without great outstanding antagonists. I am so lucky to have grown up with GI Joe in the 80s. Being born in 78 I hit it a the perfect time to buy the first wave and have been hooked ever since!

Making a GI Joe vid thats more than an hour takes balls and hard work! I said this before, i thought... well i am a HUGE Joe fan but you have shown me that theres a lot of characters i didn't even know existed! I still remember when I saw Storm Shadow in the store for the first time when I was a kid! I was on a summer trip with my grandparents. He was so hard to find and it was an unforgettable moment. So glad my grandparents were cool and let me get it. As for Destro, he’s probably my favorite Cobra character as well. I distinctly remember the first time I saw him in the comic book. The steel mask, the wrist rockets. So cool. It honestly caught me off guard, and it suddenly took GI Joe to a whole other level.

I used to get a screwdriver and make my own figures with the pieces. I had a big collection going up and I actually found The GI Joe's cooler than the Cobra action figures because they look more like actual military men. Especially the ones that look like they were characters out of Predator.

Great video! I’d give you a 98 out off a 100, for your effort and thoroughness. When you delve into international releases, it can become complicated. I found it interesting, you touched on some international characters, like Kangor, Gatilho and Relampago, but you ignored others, like Ninja Ku, Cobra de Hielo, Urzor, Lobisomem, Pantano and Armadilha. Also, Super7 has made newer toy versions of European characters, such as Rednok, Red Laser and Red Jackal; which could be included or not. Also Hasbro did release a Cobra field medic, in the Direct To Consumer (DTC) line, (I believe) called the Medi-Viper.

Thanks! I left out the international releases unless they were brought into the lore by the collector's club or role-playing game, or comic book. I feel like unless they get added in as characters, they are really alternates of other characters and not necessarily members of Cobra. I debated including the Red Shadows and their companions, but decided not to, as the video was getting too long and unruly already.

Nice list. Remember, we waited 100 issues to find out Firefly was a ninja from the Arashikage clan and the faceless master. It was a huge deal. Hasbro put out so many toys it was impossible for Hama to keep up and the comic did go downhill. As a kid I had the toys & comics and I always made him a ninja anyways, so I was ahead of the curve lol. Still have my toys and the entire first GI Joe series of comics. Toys back then were awesome

A lot of the JvC/Spy Troops/VvV era stuff gets lost in the shuffle because there wasn't much media around to develop them. Scalpel's filecard is hilarious and perfect for a Cobra Surgeon. I liked Slash because he seemed like he was a real psycho and was being set up as the "Anti-Kamakura" (not that it ever went anywhere beyond his filecard). I do find it interesting that out of that era it seemed like it was actually the Joes who had a few new characters that seemed to stick a bit with the fandom (Barrel Roll, Crosshair, Kamakura, and Bombstrike spring to mind), but not so much Cobra (Maybe Blackout due to his connection to Barrel Roll and Bombstrike...and his figure's hilarious resemblance to Bill Paxton).

Vypra is one of my favorite figures of the O-ring era and I love her Rattler 4x4, if for no other reason than the paint jobs on each of them. A good friend of mine is responsible for coming up with Vypra's name and her back story. He also came up with Oktober Guard figure Volga and wrote a few of the file cards from the 97-98 era. I recall Dr. Mindbender was first designated as Cobra's Interrogator, then a few years later along came The Interrogator. I figure Mindbender would be more the guy who would do the torture type interrogations, whereas Interrogator would be more psychological, messing with a detainee's mind. I think he'd also be used against Cobra's own troops if an individual were to start to get out of line, like wanting to start a coup or steal from Cobra Commander.

So glad you included someone a bit more 'obscure' to some, Croc-master. I had that figure with the Pet gator (or croc) and in my head canon he and Big Boa were Training Bros for some reason and since my Commander figure "died" (by dry-rot of the little rubber band holding his torso to his hips) he led my Cobra forces while my Serpentor cried about it in a corner because nobody liked him. Is there a list like this with all the rank-and-file cobra troopers, the various Vipers, etc? I was a huge fan of those as a kid. Yeah yeah the Joe team were the good guys but they all looked so normal to me (multiple generation military brat and eventual veteran) and normal equals boring. But the Cobra troops? Way cooler uniforms and gear, and in some cases as you pointed out, way cooler file card introductions too, at least in the early run of the 3.5 inch line.

I don't think you mentioned Headhunter, but actually I don't consider the Headmen as a part of Cobra proper. Ok THERE he is. I figured Grizzle was once a Headmen before being put into Cobra proper.
