The Kairi skin gets a color based on her Keyblade, Destiny’s Embrace, while the Riku skin gets one based on the Keyblade of People’s Hearts from Kingdom Hearts 1.

I think the tanner skin on Ryu's Yellow costume could be a reference to Sean from Street Fighter 3. It's nice to see fan games put in this level of effort as well since stuff like Sonic and Pac-Man getting more interesting colors than the official titles might be allowed to have is nice. I like the fact that the devs went as far as to reference King of the Hill when making costumes for Waluigi. XD 4. Hyrule Warriors Ganon looks pretty cool, so it was a shame Smash Ultimate didn't reference it. 5. So if Gorochu existed, Pichu wouldn't... huh. 6. Fun fact: Waluigi isn't the only character that gets alt colors for his items! Other characters get this treatment too! This includes (but isn't limited to)... • Mario's Luma in his Mario Tornado • Peach's Toad • Captain Falcon's Blue Falcon ( _typically_ matching the vehicle of the racer the costume is based on) • Tails' blaster, and the boxing glove in his down smash • Ichigo's Hollow mask in his up/down taunt Again, these are only the items that change for every alt AND don't just simply share the palette of the fighter. There's items for other characters that get recolored only for specific costumes (e.g. In his Dark Pit costume, Pit's bow, arrows, and Upperdash Arm get recolored to Dark Pit's Smash appearance).

24:56 A few things I’m not a huge fan of Sonic’s alts mostly referencing other characters. It could’ve been a chance to reference different designs like his light blue alt. Also, for context on the brown alt. It’s based specifically on panel from Issue 8 of Sonic the Comic. Notice the inconsistency in shoe colors the alt and image has. As for more about the image he uses, that is actually an adaptation of the old westernized version of the Sonic lore. Where they changed it to Sonic being originally a brown hedgehog who gained Super Speed and his blue color after a science accident with Chaos Energy. The comic he shows is the cover of Issue 8 of Fleetway’s “Sonic the Comic” series. This was a British comic that once featured strips for other Sega franchises until they just had Sonic stories. 25:18 Lastly, Espio isn’t an antagonist. Where did you get that? Anti-Hero maybe, even though I do think he’s less greedy if at all compared to Vector and Charmy. 25:31 Also, bonus small correction. It’s more of a reference to how Classic Sonic looks nowadays. Maybe even just that fan render of him as I don’t recall Classic Sonic’s shoes being a different color. But anyways, Classic Sonic’s design always had a similar shade of blue like Modern Sonic for almost all of his appearances. Especially in Japan. Edit: I get why Sonic and many other characters gets alts that references other characters. But I can’t help but wish they went into more of his and Tails’ history of designs than mostly just multiple Sonic characters. The latter feels lazier.
