Dooku was not going to win against yoda. That's why dooku created a diversion so he could escape. Dooku would have gotten his butt kicked by palpatine. Obi wan and anakin only struggled with dooku in episode 3 because palpatine was giving dooku strength and power.

When Anaobi confronts Dooku in Episode 3, she says, "Let's fight together this time," which was probably meant to admonish Anakin, who had charged into Dooku alone and lost in Episode 2. However, the existence of the CW that was made afterwards made this line seem unnatural. (Anaobi has fought Dooku many times in the CW after Episode 2) But then, in S6-10 "The Lost," the last time Anaobi fought Dooku in the CW, during the Battle of Obadia, Obi-Wan used the Force to send Anakin to the transport, leaving him to fight alone as Dooku was trying to escape on a transport. This depiction made the dialogue in Episode 3 feel less awkward. 11:43 12:52

Note that Dooku could've easily killed Anakin multiple times in their series of duels, but he didn't bc he was helping to groom the dark side in him. With each successive fight, Anakin fought with more anger and grew stronger against Dooku. When Anakin finally defeats Dooku, Darth Sidius betrays him when he orders Skywalker to kill him. Thus, the surprised look on Dooku's face as Anakin is about to kill him. This was Darth Sidius' way of sealing Anakin's passage to the dark side. Dooku remained loyal to the cause.
