Definitely seems like a worthwhile mod for a panther. My understanding of grip balance is that if you want front grip you raise the rear roll stiffness and vice versa, meaning it would probably be a good idea to pair that front bar with a stiff rear one to really get the full benefit. Thanks for the install video.
@tyler.diesel5 жыл бұрын
That's definitely a plan to match the rear but I started with the front since I already rebuilt most the front end already
@cafn8ed745 жыл бұрын
@@tyler.diesel that's cool. I gathered that from the video. Any odd handling? I would expect it to respond to steering quicker than stock then push the front out a bit at the limit while keeping the tail well planted. Have you noticed anything like that? I wouldn't hold against you if you don't regularly try to slide your car around on public streets, though. Haha.

@@cafn8ed74 I notice a huge difference in Corning the car stays alot flatter and planted to the road. Good video, I daily my 2011 and did this upgrade last spring, went with an Addco 1.25" front and the Addco 1" rear, and on top of that I made my own custom rear control arms with poly bushings, very significant difference in the feel of the car now, solid af.

Factory bar on a late model P71 is 28.9mm or 1.135inches. I swapped a P71 bar onto the front of my 2010 Town Car, for the rear I found a 21mm hpp from a 98-2002 Grand Marquis, night and day difference when driving on curvy roads, especially noticeable when hauling a heavy load.

Great video, and a great subject -- those Panther platforms need better handling to match the speeds we get from the performance mods. I have the ADDCO 1 1/4th -inch sway bar on the 95 MERC -- same one that's in your vid. Your installation methods are correct, and you included necessary part numbers -- much appreciated! Those new bushings appear to be made of RUBBER -- NOT good -- I used Greasable, Urethane Bushings from Energy Suspension, which add stiffness to the anti-roll, and give flatter, more stable cornering at any speed. I use LUCAS X-TRA Heavy Duty grease -- won't wash out or freeze out, and it stops those squeeks. The use of Urethane Sway-Bar Bushings will guarantee that your front end stays tight, and alignment adjustment stays true.

Is sway bar good to use especially in a wet surface the normal Crown Vics have a tendency to skid i have a 2011
@SlikLizrd4 жыл бұрын
Installing the ADDCO Anti-sway bars on both axles of your Panther chassis will do more to PREVENT skids than any other modification you could do. The ADDCO bars keep ALL FOUR (4) wheels in contact with the ground -- to provide better handling and braking under adverse conditions. I installed new KYB "Gas-A-Just" police shocks to balance out the handling package.

Can that same part # fit a 95 mercury grand marquis ?
@SlikLizrd4 жыл бұрын
NO !! The '95 Grand Marquis takes a different part number. The famous 95 MERC has the ADDCO 1-1/4th" bar in front, and the ADDCO 1" bar in the rear. The '95 bar has different ends than the one in this video, and different End Links as well. Handling is GREATLY improved over the stock set-up, with excellent stability on undulating roads and in cross-winds. When installing ANY sway bars, it is very important to use URETHANE Bushings for all attachment points -- they will last forever, and hold everything right where it belongs, regardless of weather and/or road conditions. On the '95 Grand Marquis, it's not necessary to remove the brake calipers -- just remove the OEM end links. The new End Links will install to the Lower Control Arms. IMPORTANT: On the '95 Marquis -- BEFORE you install the Sway Bars, have the front-end ALIGNED at a shop that will give you a Before & After printout -- if it costs a bit more, DO IT ANYWAY, as you'll save money in the long run by saving those expensive TIRES while you enjoy the new comfort, cornering, and overall handling improvements. The famous 95 MERC was set up for long-distance, high-speed cruising of the Southwest deserts and mountains -- the ADDCO sway bars make it happen .

The disc brake changes were a major mistake, you actually lost swept area by getting the slotted and drilled rotors of the same diameter. The slots are useless, the holes may reduce the amount of pad dust that that's it ! You also got turned rotors, meaning the side-to-side parallelism is poor to begin with. You would have been wise to get double-disc ground rotors to get much better parallelism. And ceramic pads require a break-in process, which you properly performed, right ? Bottom line on the brakes is you added a "gee-wiz" factor, but actually made the brakes less efficient. And the larger diameter sway bar add a very slight 8% increase in torsional rigidity, hardly worth the cost, time, and effort and it's wishful thinking to say "it feels better". Unless of course, all you wanted was another "gee-wiz". But really, why bother doing all that stuff and spending so much time and money on a vehicle that has no value ? Those old CV's routinely go for $300.00 or less at auction.
