High Seas Adventure was definitely the best episode in the whole series by a long shot. So many great references, and a super epic adventure. Also, I think season 2 deserves more credit. Sure, it may have cliche Cuphead tropes, but it was also Mugman’s time to shine, and it has the most boss references.

Mugman is the best character ever, although I don't understand something. In season 2 Mugman was gradually losing his mind getting more and more unhinged as if the creators were working towards something but in Season 3, he completely cooled down only occasionally losing his temper. WHAT HAPPENED THERE?

“The I scream man” is my favorite episode of the show. Kinda sad to see it so low, but understandable. I just loved all the animation in it, especially Mugman’s absolutely delightful facial expressions. And let’s be honest we’ve all been in a situation like this, where we are trying to relax, someone is annoying us, so we get a little angry and frustrate them back. Feels horrible, but at least I wasn’t chased with an ice cream truck and a lunatic that wanted me to freeze in hell.

The line from Rat’s All, Folks, “What will it be, your precious cottage, or your precious cups?” is weirdly one of the most heartwarming lines throughout the entire show in my opinion. It really shows how much Elder Kettle views the boys as his sons/grandsons, even if likely not biologically related to them. Another good line of dialogue that really got me to feel was Cuphead’s shellshocked, “M-Mugman?” at the very end of The Devil’s Pitchfork. That one word, combined with how it bleeds right into the beginning of season three with Mugman’s name being all Cuphead can bring himself to say, really shows how much he cares about Mugman. I think I just like when a goofy show like this can really show its heart. I love seeing the brothers act like brothers and not just friends. I’m probably a bit biased though since Cups and Mugs sort of remind me of my older brothers when we were kids. Even though I disagree with some of your rankings, I’m so glad that you made this video. Really fueling my Cuphead hyperfixation right now

7:30 I disagree. You have to show that the characters have chemistry so that it is heartbreaking when Chalice has to betray the boys. That is why they have fun together at the beginning. The idea was they had the perfect day but suddenly it turned dark.

The devil doesn't torture mugman when he's captured because he isn't actually able to. Mugman owes him nothing and the devil had no justification to take him for his normal devil stuff, he did it for personal reasons. All he can really do is hold him in hell, going any further than that would probably be breaking his rules since he has no right over Mugman's soul. I'm pretty sure it was stated in the episode that he was already stretching it by kidnapping him to begin with.

(Warning: Opinion ahead) In my opinion,here is my rank on the episodes: *Worst* 3° - In Charm's Way - It felt (for me) like they were hitting a "Chalice uses charms to get stuff" note and it felt like those were her two traits,i mean,compared to the first episode,i understood more of Cuphead and Mugman were (More than simply "Cuphead is impulsive" and "Mugman is unlucky" traits) on a scene where they didn't talk more than i understood about Ms. Chalice,besides,who uses charm (something that for some people doesn't work) rather than flipping ghost powers!? 2° - Piano Lesson - Ok,it may be bias to Mugman,but i hated how he was used,i mean, he was being a brat (and not in the good way),but not just him,nobody was done right,the puns were dry,the plot doesn't work (in my opinion) and the only good thing i liked was they used a NPC rather than a boss 1°- HANDLE WITH CARE! - Ok,now imagine "Piano Lesson",but (somehow) worse, how? Simply: Make Cuphead the sole likeable character in the story and make him suffer, even tho he was the sole character to try to fix the problem,make Mugman a brat crying for a handle and all of the other characters make all other characters only make the problem worse (this episode was the only one to make me feel bad for Cuphead) - also the jokes were very bad and didn't work at all (including the dress joke) *Best* 3°- Dead Broke - The first (and maybe only) episode that i liked Chalice, because charm was not the whole point of the story and the story was awesome,not to mention how the villains worked 2° - The I Scream Man - This is how you make Mugman a brat - even tho he was in the wrong,it was that it was not only fun,it went gradually (yet fast) to him to hate the ice cream man,also,this shows how much potential Mugman has and how truly dangerous he is, also i loved how even the ice cream man was goofy even if Mugman was bout to try to kill him 1°- Sweater off dead - Mugman finally gets the spotlight, Cuphead was very funny and stupid, the Devil is... Come on,it's the Devil! There is no bad Devil episode (it is the laws of physics),not to mention how fun was to watch,with no unlikable characters what so ever (Once again, this is my opinion,if you hate it or disagree,then there's no problem with it)

Not gonna lie Special Delivery was my favorite purely because of how great the trio dynamic was. It felt like Chalice fit into the family perfectly instead of being any better or worse than the brothers, while still showing off all their personality. The trio are my favorite characters in the whole show so it catapulted into my number one choice.

I might have to do my own list of Cuphead one day as it is SURPRISINGLY different from this one (there are only like 2 or 3 episodes I can say I didn't care about). That said... I am curious to see what a ranking of "The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse" series would be like. I don't know if Mickey Mouse has ever been covered on this channel, but both the KZbin shorts and the Disney+ episodes are a HIGH recommendation from me, ESPECIALLY if you like Cuphead (worth noting that Paul Rudish was heavily involved in both series)

I don’t know if you remember, but a while ago when you reviewed that Netflix cartoon with the trans main character, you talked about the trope with the intimidating enemy having a cutesy design (Pugsly I believe). I commented on that video about your thoughts on the trope, and after your response, I’ve been over thinking about it. I overthink about a lot of stuff you say about modern animation tropes, and it results in me getting annoyed and developing what could be close to “Stan” tendencies. I would want the people responsible to stop all of their planned work just for you to have a brighter look on modern animation. Something about your Oc and your voice just hypnotized me for some reason I can’t understand. I have been improving, and I felt that leaving a public piece of writing like this would help me better understand that. Thanks for the video.

Personally Handle with care! is my favorite because this is the episode where Elder Kettle Tells his childhood. Dirt Nap was also my favorite because that when Cuphead, Mugman, and Elder Kettle express thier love for each other. And lastly I love the devil's revenge because I just loved the concernedness of Elder Kettle when Cuphead was sad even though he didn't what was going on. I love those episodes because I love the grandfatherly love that Elder Kettle had for Cuphead and Mugman.

Honestly, In my opinion the Lost in the Woods episode of Cuphead was primarily very normal to me. It goes on that fact in the normal game that, Cuphead is the person that ruined Mugmans life, and had to sell his soul to the devil, too. It goes about his personality (annoying and reckless sometimes). I personally don't mind when they do this. (edit) I know it's not the ENJOYABLE part of the Cuphead games, but it does play a good role in the development for him in later episodes.

"The christmas special is in the bottom third" The Christmas special that takes a very creative and original take on Satan Clause and yet a genuine message is between the WORST? Like, really: when a Christmas special/movie FORCES that "It's Christmas, it's all about the meaning and not the stuff" they... are clearly reading a script: but, the fact that the DEVIL, yes number 1 on the naughty list, wants to experience Christmas the right way for once and actually learns how to ("why not use magic to have your gift?" "It's not the same thing when you recieve it" - "It's hard being good all the time" "I KNOW!") it's very convincing because it comes from a guy that shouldn't understand such things. The real only downside this episode deserves is purely in the Italian dubbing: in Italy, the Devil has a first and last name "Satanasso Pigliatutto" (Devil Take-it-all), but the guys doing the Italian dub needs to be fired cause they are TERRIBLE and missing this chance was one of the thousand of proofs. You make some reasonable points, true, but come on: you can excuse those reasons with such originality. I mean... have you SEE that cool, terrifying and badass Santa werewolf-like transformation!?

When I look at the series, I do like the Cuphead show as a whole. It is entertaining and carries the feel of the game, in particular with the bosses/villain episodes. But I've noticed that Season 2 seems to have the best episodes and the worst episodes. The best episodes are easily any episodes with the bosses, so A High Seas Adventure!, Sweet Temptation, and Rats All, Folks! for the obvious reason that the bosses are some of the absolute best characters in the series. The worst episodes are exactly what you listed, Say Cheese, Lost in the Woods, etc. I was wondering why this was, and I feel like I might know why this is the case. Most of the episodes in the season seem to have the dialogue carried or the plot started by the brothers constantly fighting. Now, I know brothers often fight, I have a younger brother myself. But I feel like it says something when out of thirteen episodes, EIGHT of the episodes have this problem. (To be clear, that list is as follows: Jailbroken, A High Seas Adventure!, Another Brother, Sweet Temptation, Piano Lesson, Dead Broke, Say Cheese, and Lost in the Woods. I could count Charmed & Dangerous as well for the first conversation between Cuphead and Mugman, but the fighting isn't THAT rampant or "necessary" to be in that episode.) Now, that's not to say those episodes aren't bad, in fact, Sweet Temptation is better because of that fight showing Cuphead CAN have self-control. I just mean that it's a bit of a problem if over half of the episodes have the simple solution of arguing between specifically the main two characters to progress the story or add dialogue, because I feel it tends to get repetitive very quickly. Same goes for Season 3 involving the Devil being more of a punching bag than a threatening villain, but I didn't notice that as much and the constant arguing in Season 2 and how it was far less in Season 3. That said, it's still a good season and show, it's just a running problem I noticed in that season in what is otherwise a great show.

I disagree about the devil not being a threat. He can't actually hurt anyone unless they have a soul debt. His bark is bigger than his bite.
