Thank you for opening up your life to the world. This week has been incredibly hectic at work, but taking the time to watch our videos served as a valuable pause for reflection on the balance between work and life. I often find myself being a workaholic, channeling all my energy into my job. My routine involves coming home, tending to my pup, grabbing a quick meal, and then repeating the cycle. It's become apparent that I'm neglecting my personal well-being. Your words resonated with me, prompting me to question my current trajectory. I've realized that, at the expense of my own health, I've neglected my passion for art, despite identifying as an artist. Your reminder that being a writer is about writing has struck a chord, compelling me to prioritize myself. Thank you for sharing your insights.😃

Glad you are working out. Sugar is bad for strength training. I break up my workouts by muscle groups. Chest and shoulders, then next day legs, then next day back, biceps, and triceps. Then back to legs. Cardio day and start again. There are so many great workouts on KZbin. Keep going!

I love that started going to the gym daily. I do the same but what happens is once in a while maybe 1 or 2 days I can’t make it because of an early work mtg or just feeling lazy. Planning 7 days guarantees 5-6 most weeks and lets me skip a day without guilt. 🎉

I loved what James Clear wrote in Atomic Habits (paraphrasing here) that no one can be perfect. It's ok to miss a day, but make a commitment not to miss a second day. That was a really helpful framing for where I'm at

Going to the gym is addictive, in a good way of course. When you get a few decades older you might find that it helps to reverse the feeling of decline that comes with age. It's a great feeling to reach a target weight, and set the next one, or to have to buy new shirts because the chest and sleeves in the current ones are too small, not the stomach. There is also a very meditative quality to weight training, you can zone out, stop the monkey chatter and concentrate on the energy and strength that is inside you. That can "put you in charge" in some very meaningful ways.
@JaySwanson9 ай бұрын
The zoning out and relaxing while in the gym has been the best counterintuitive mindset shift I've had beyond the commitment I've made to get in every day. It's really changed the experience into something much more enjoyable then when I was in there to work as hard as possible and get out as fast as possible. Glad I'm in it!

Your motivation is highly inspirational and contagious! But you'll need to make sure your efforts are well balanced and planned. If they are, you'll see great improvements.Have you thought of hiring a personal trainer? Or perhaps sharing some details about your routine with your audience, some of whom will probably have good advice? I was very happy to see the video sequence with the three major shoulder-centric movements: bench press, overhead press, cable rows. Keep piling on the volume, it really helps. Good luck, Jay!
@JaySwanson9 ай бұрын
Thanks! I definitely want to get a trainer but I'll need a new gym for that. Sharing my routines is definitely doable - I'll get to it once I feel a bit more settled into them (but I guess I've been doing them forever now so it won't take too long)
@willnelson33629 ай бұрын
@@JaySwansonIt looks like you're straining pretty well on your reps -- IMO, that's good and it looks like the right amount of strain. Maybe watch some videos on shoulder and ribcage placement for each exercise, particularly on the rows. Is that a freaking wall right behind you on the cable row machine? I was going to scold you for bad form on the rows -- you need to raise your chest way higher, push your shoulder blades down toward the floor (and pinch them together in the back, which you're doing), for God's sake, don't crane your head forward at maximum contraction. But it really just looks like you're doing all this to avoid that damn wall!?!?! I hope you find a new gym soon!
