@nicholetheotter19575 жыл бұрын
Aussie person To be fair, they are basically a continuation of the A Sets. B Sets still have some differences of their own, such as an extra screen in the vestibule area, a digital display on the information screens instead of the LED display that A Sets have, and a different livery on the outside. B Sets have orange on the front with the Sydney Trains logo, and black vinyl on the side of the carriages. Set number B2 also has the Waratah flower livery on the two driving trailer cars (D1102, D1202).

The 4th gen trains (A/B/M/H/J sets) use electric motors, while all the older generations used air operated doors. The sound you hear is simply the air pushing the door shut. I don't think any K sets have it any more, but some K set doors used to be particularly loud, because it was set up for the air compressor to clean itself whenever the doors were operated.

I think it might be because even though both A and B sets are part of the same Waratah series, but they are classified as 2 separate classes of the same series, hence they're separated by A and B sets, and there are also some differences between the A and B sets, the B sets are almost identical to the A sets but have more improved technology, so the B sets are like the upgraded version of the A sets.

Alister Whiterod They did used to do that before installing these automated voices. I know it happened on Tangaras (T sets), S/K/C and V sets during the CityRail era. I think it was the OSCARs and Millenniums (M sets) that kicked off the trend of using DVAs.

@@nicholetheotter1957 yeah, I remember that. Back in NZ now, still miss the City Rail experience even though it's now Sydney Trains.

They sometimes still do in rural areas, for example I took a k set back from woy woy to Gosford and despite a functional announcements system being in place, at the first few stops it was via voice, and my lord they kept talking through the mics even when not instructed, guess everyone has their days where they forget that not everyone needs to hear some over the speaker conversation about sandwiches
