I don’t think so, this “glitch” has been in the game for the longest time, like, pre 1.2 update. I believe they just added the infinity bucket just to facilitate this kind of stuff. Also you can automate the glitch with pumps.

The infinite bucket looks just a way to say "Yeah, this kind of stuff seems OP, but you can do a duplication glitch anyway. So just take this for your convenience and don't bother"

On mobile if you don’t save your character but save your world you can actually just dupe stuff

for monolith glitch we can use cannon aswell iirc, and bunny cannon

From my experience (mobile in case that matters) the crystal trick also works in multiplayer worlds although only the host can do it.

Monolith dupe can be done with pirate npc's cannons too, which is more profitable with bunny cannon than the aether thing

Tips: You can duplicate the crystal shard and combine it with the item duplication to get more crystal shards

The liquid duplication works better if you hammer the block that you're placing the liquids above.
