wanted to make a complilation of all my monthly videos, so I did! I added january of 2023 in there as I never made a video on it, and I also re-edited some sections so it feels more like one continuous video instead of 12 separate ones. so yeah if you've already watched the others, at least there is some new stuff here for you, and if you haven't, this is the best way to catch up!

I think a lot of people (incl. me) feel this way these days, based on forums and subreddits. Actually stepping into a game feels like it requires a level of commitment and "initial energy" that I don't often apply. It's the same sort of thing as scrolling through KZbin videos instead of watching a movie I'm interested in... because one doesn't require me to make a decision or commit to more than a few min, I end up just "settling" for the thing that won't make me as happy, but is easier to do or requires less commitment.

I thought about it, but I think the quality of certain things is just a little below my standards for the main channel (like this is trying to match audio that was recorded over an entire year, so while I think it is pretty solid, there are way more inconsistencies than what typically shows up on the main channel). Also, as I talked about these games the month I played them, some of my thoughts have changed a fair bit (which was reflected in my Games That Got Me Through 2023 video), and I felt like it might be a bit jarring. so yeah idk you are probably right that this could have gone on the main channel and would have gotten way more views and benefitted me much more than it going here lol BUT I just felt more comfortable keeping second channel stuff on the second channel.

I just got Citizen Sleeper based on your recommendation, and you are 100% spot on. There is so much about this game that I enjoyed, it has high replay ability, and I was drawn completely drawn into the world. I do not have a gaming PC so I got this on Switch - the ONLY downside is on Switch my game kept crashing so I would have to redo a cycle, but the game was so fantastic I kept playing even with game crashes. Normally game crashes would have me put a game down, and they were frustrating, but I was so invested I kept playing. I'm hoping this gets updated so the game stops crashing on Switch - but for anyone even remotely interested in this game, I would highly recommend giving it a try

I only recently found your channel and you seem very good at what you do. Our opinions on games align quite well and when they don't I can always see the reasoning behind your points. It's intriguing to hear your thoughts on games whether you liked the game or not. I have a question: Did you play One Shot the second time? If you played it once you played only 60% of the game. The second time you play it completes the game and has only little repetition to the first playthrough. It's also shorter. I strongly recommend playing it for the second time to get the full picture. And this comes from a person who almost never play games again, even with games like Resident Evil 2 that offer two different characters and routes to play.

I really wish I had had a similar experience to you with Tears of the Kingdom. I plan to jump back into it but I got up to around 80 hours of playtime back in May/June and found myself really getting sick of the game. I was someone who loved Breath of the Wild when it released and so Tears of the Kingdom was maybe my most anticipated game ever, so I was so dissapointed to find the game just really wasnt clicking with me. Whereas exploring hyrule in breath of the wild felt like making my own adventure, tears of the kingdom feels to be like a checklist of repetitive, boring objectives in a world I've already explored. Mechanically its really cool and I expecially love the ascend ability, and the depths are surprisingly satisfying to explore despite also seeming fairly empty and pointless. But exploring the overworld and sky of hyrule really gave me none of the feeling of discovery and mystery I got from playing breath of the wild. I plan on trying it again soon and I hope my feelings change after finishing the game, but so far I feel like the 80 hours I've played have left very little impression on me, and I don't have any memories of the game really wowing me in the same way Breath of the Wild and later Elden Ring did. Anyway good video and thanks if you read this, wish you all the best.

I love love love OneShot. I played it at just the right time in my life for it to make the most impact, and the Solstice update along with how the characters interacted with each other, myself included, just hit in all the right ways. I also love the idea of a game being so intent on only playing it once, and letting yourself -- like everything -- else slowly forget the specifics. It's truly one of my favorites. And, they were right, the details have started to blur, only leaving me with the overall story and how it's affected me. Which, as deeply saddening as it is, is a really beautiful thing. I'll always recommend it to people, though, even knowing it'll never be the same for them as it was for me

Hey Raz, just curious how you store/organise your footage. Do you record full playthroughs of each of these games and still keep them? Or do you start to delete footage once you've finished the related video? Or do you only record a couple hours of each game? Do you have notes on specific moments as you play and just make certain to keep those parts? I've been recording my gaming sessions and am just lookikg for some advice. Thanks :)
@razbutwo11 ай бұрын
I record full playthroughs of everything I play and keep them all on a NAS. I do not have a system for taking notes, which does lead to a fair amount of searching for stuff, but the hard thing is you don't always know what kind of clip you need so I'd spend a lot of time taking notes on things I think might be important. I have convinced myself that doing that for every game I played would take longer than just searching for stuff. Dunno if that is reality, but it is what I am going with. In general, I do have a pretty decent memory of when certain things happened in a game's playthrough, so it generally doesn't take too long.

8:10 Huh. It sounds like the sequel actually fixed all of my _gigantic_ issues with the firtst Bioshock. I played it back in like 2010-2011. So reasonably close to its release. And I absolutely hated it. The combat was garbage, the exploration was boring and the story was just mildly interesting. But looking back, I think the reason I felt that way is because the pacing was ruined for me. Never used plasmids, because switching to it was really clunky, and I always wanted to save up mana for a big fight that never came. And I always avoided interacting with turrets or anything else that is hackable, because I hated that minigame. This meant that I was bored all the way through, and I stopped playing after an hour each and every session. What this meant is that I was also quite disconnected from the moment-to-moment story, as the game doesn't really have a lot of things actively happening. Perhaps I should check out Bioshock 2.

I think if you play bioshock games, SPECIALLY 1 and 2 "by turning your brain off" 01:45 like you said you did after bioshock infinite you find a decent game in the first one but the second one you will find one of the worst games, the gunplay is really bad, it just doesn't make you wanna fight, you are a big daddy, a big daddy that can tank several less damage than others... the basic mechanic to make the game be 8 hours long is basically closing doors in your face, hey, we are going to the next zone, SIKE, you have to play a whole level to open the door because the light is out, and when you turn it on you basically replay the level (so they don't have to be original). Well, this next zone is brought to you by ANOTHER DOOR CLOSED, or destroyed, or malfunction, is basically, a direct path to your destination in train stopped by malfunctions and closed doors, your only objective in each level is get pass an obstacle, and obviously i'm not gonna talk about the three little sisters that each level has and in one of the last levels is mandatory to save or harvest. I REALLY love the story on the first and second one, Infinite is ok and the narrative is a lot better, just a few closed doors, but the second one for me is a 4-5 videogame. Bioshock 2 is trying to get to Eleanor and having to do tasks to get over an obstacle. The life is what goes on between one closed door and another closed door I guess...

I love ac 2 so I will be slighly bias but I do think viewing the game in a negative light due to the aftermath of how the wider industry ran with it's design isn't particularly far to ac 2. That's Like the Bioshock example of hating the first or second game because it led to infinite. It's the same issue I run into with AC fans who hate Origins because it started the trend towards Valhalla. Which my view is Origins was neccessary to reinvent the franchise and did a good job of doing so. Over time Valhalla learnt the wrong lessons and became less ac in both mechanics and story to become as much of an open world rpg as possible.

Tbh I really hated being forced to use return to sender just to survive. The vigors were also so washed down + made more expensive eve-wise that they just weren't even that useful. Bucking bronco, Murder of Crows and Shock Jockey(electro bolt) all feel like the same vigor as they do basically the same thing. Possession is too expensive eve-wise to be useful anywhere and the melee-vigor Charge leaves you really vulnerable after using it. The rest were...fine. Bioshock 1 and 2 are amazing, though I enjoyed 2 a tad more due to 2 having dual-wielding, better gene tonic options AND NO STUPID MEATSHIELDS(yes, the last quarter of bs1 was hella annoying).

Jesus man, I struggled to play 2 and a half games last year. I got hi fi rush and played through it about 3-4 times. Then I got Quake 2 remastered and switched between that and ultrakill until the year was over. This year Isn't much different, OG quake with Arcane dimensions mod for the 5th time and trying to P rank Ultrakill. I remember Bioshock was the first game I got with my 360 and remember being amazed how "open" it felt with the lived in level design and my approach to combat encounters with the plasmids and tonic because of that I replayed the game constantly and just never got bored because my memory of the layout improved and you just enter this godlike flowstate. Bioshock 2 even more so, but with more gruesome combat I played infinite once, tried to play it again. Got bored.

It's hard for me to remember absolutely everything I played last year because it feels like 50% of it was getting sucked into the Armored Core series, and the other 50% was getting sucked into the Monster Hunter series. My favorite game that came out last year was Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon, and my favorite game I played that didn't necessarily come out last year that I played for the first time was Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. My other highlights were Pizza Tower, Hi-Fi Rush, Street Fighter 6, and Super Mario Bros Wonder. It is a huge disappointment to see another From Software fan that just brushes them off if they aren't making a Souls-like though. You really owe it to yourself to play Armored Core 6, and a lot of the other games in the series if you can.

I think there is a massive difference between brushing something off and not having had the time to play it just yet.

@@razbutwo that's fair. I definitely recommend you try it if you can find the time. It's definitely not as difficult as From's other recent titles (or even as hard as Last Raven, the hardest Armored Core game by a long shot), but it's an unapologetic thrill ride, well worth your time to get all the endings.

I’m always shocked the amount of people that prefer Sekiro to Bloodborne. I truly wonder which game is more loved by the soulslike community. It seems about equal, and really it doesn’t matter because objectively they’re quality is indistinguishable

I really enjoyed Remnant 2, me and my brother tried getting through the first one but we gave up, it jsut wasn't a good game. I wasn't that bothered about Wo Long, it just didn't feel fun to play for me
