I feel like the best implentation of this would be having blank cards for all the players that can be written on with dry erase. Then the master picks a word, making one up or using codenames cards or whatever, writes it on one card, shuffles and deals. Then you don't have to do the "close your eyes" stuff.

I've started collecting all of Oink games. Yes, they are a bit expensive, but they are really well designed and all of them so far has been fun to play. I also LOVE the ultra-portable format, so easy to put in a coat pocket and bring along anywhere.

You mentioned Rogue copies and Fake Artist goes to NY. You could play this game using the components for Fake Artist. Just write the word on one persons board.

I agree - really great game concept but not something you have to buy the physical game. You can play this with any other deck of word cards: like codenames. Just draw 6 word cards and use a die or something to select a number.

Willy Willner you criticize my purchase and you plagiarize an idea. If an artist designs a product, you are not just paying for the product. You are paying for their intelligence. You are paying for their time. You are paying them to keep designing great games. I have no problem with people upgrading their games but I have a big problem with a straight plageriazation with zero acknowledgement to the people who deserve credit. I've graphically redesigned several games I thought were ugly or needed component upgrades, but I've bought original copies of every single one.

Joseph Bridges You could sell me your copy. I would pay be willing to pay 12,00 € incl. shipping. I am a student and I don't have the extra money to spend 20,00 - 25,00 for a handfull of cards. I have many small games that have 50+ cards and are ORIGINAL IDEAS. None of them cost more than 10,00 €.

use pictionary or taboo cards to select the words, there's plenty of insider fuel there

You downgraded your rating because of price? Seems very unfair since you both have received a lot of enjoyment. For Jason alone he said he has played the game approx. 30 times so far. Since you need at least 4 people to play, at the $22 price point on Amazon, your play value is $22/(30*4) or about 18 cents per person per play. And that's just with the minimum amount of players.

Joseph Bridges Agreed. I perceive value based on the enjoyment I get from a game, not from the components. A game that comes with a handful of cards for £30 and I enjoy many times over is better 'value' than a huge box of plastic minis for £20 that is a snooze-fest. Plus, part of what makes Oink games great is how they manage to squeeze so much game into a tiny, very portable box.

couldn't agree more. It really bothered me to hear them go on and on about the price. I do agree it should come with more cards but thats fine when I play out the cards in the box I can just make my own or use codenames cards.

Mikolaj Witkowski price isn't the only factor but it is a huge one in this case. I love TI3, but if I spend $100 and never play it, I've wasted my money. They spent a small amount of money and already received hours of entertainment. For the price of two movie tickets, they and others have enjoyed the game a lot. They will enjoy it for years to come with dozens of others. If ten years from now, they decide to sell their copy, they've receive a lot of fun for not a lot of money. Those two movie tickets haven't generated any more fun or entertainment. Is money the only reason to play a game? No, but going on and on about us vastly silly in this case.

Mikolaj Witkowski I don't agree with the point about playtime. It implies that time needs to be spent and the longer spent doing something, the better. The price of a cinema ticket or a music track is the same regardless of length, so does that make the four hour epic film better value than the 90 minute movie, or a 12 minute prog rock opus better than a 3 minute punk classic? I don't think so, it's about the feelings, moments and memories that they create and if a game, film or song can create those in a shorter space of time, that doesn't make them less valuable.

Mikolaj Witkowski But the comparison with video games is less relevant as most comparisons between video games about time reflect the single player game that has a narrative and are usually only played through once. No one compares the playtime of multiplayer game sessions as an indicator of value and this is much closer to boardgames.

Would this game work with a traitor trying to influence the discussion towards the wrong answer? So you would have both an insider and a traitor in each game. If you find the correct answer, you then try to guess who the insider is. If you get the wrong answer, you try to find the traitor.

@Joypulp Longboards yeah, but after playing both of these, Werewords plays a lot better too, with the app, and hidden role for the Mayor. It adds a lot of complexity and also ensures the end result is fair, unlike the case of Insider. I agree that Werewords is a rip off of Insider, but darn is it also more fun. It's like The Insider 2.0 😅

you are paying for the idea .... compared to other one and done etc games this is a good deal .... make your own copies but at least buy this first otherwise you are stealing

Some people in my game group like this but I don't care for it. Too bland. I prefer Werewords. More variety and although the art stinks, at least it has a theme.
