You're right, or even in the top 10. This frendship wasn't covered in book much because Harry wasn't experiencing it himself (with Hermione around he felt like she is his friend first) but from the little mentions we saw that two girls understood each other, Hermione helped Ginny get over Harry, etc.

Another friendship I would like to highlight would be Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore. Harry not only idolized Dumbledore, but was always loyal to him (he was Dumbledore's man through and through) a sentiment that Dumbledore reciprocated, as can be seen in Book 6 when both were going to the cave.

The friendship between Dumbledore and McGonagall really stands out to me, mainly because Dumbledore trusted McGonagall with his past with his family and Ariana's death, which he would keep a secret from practically everyone else, except Newt. That alone shows how much trust there was between the two and how much they cared for one another, as he did that to help comfort McGonagall. I really hope the HBO show adapts this friendship well.

I had no idea McGonagall and Dumbledore had that close a friendship. Also when Harry told McGonagall he was acting on Dumbledore’s orders she stood at the ready and she told Umbridge that Dumbledore had a very good chance of returning to Hogwarts during Harry’s career interview. Well prior to Peter's betrayal the marauders as a whole had the most beautiful friendship. I agree with your choices Morgan- However I am a bit sad that there is no mention of few friendships whom I felt were good. Like Sevly (Severus & Lily when it was still healthy) Andromeda & Ted were very good friends before becoming husband and wife. Alastor Moody & Dora Tonks. Lucius Malfoy & Severus Snape (Movie watchers don't know that), Cho & Marietta before Marietta sold the DA like a Steak, Hagrid & Maxime. I guess you couldn't get all of them in. I am not sure if to consider Albus & Severus a friendship too but this one is also overlooked.

For Sirius & Remus, one movie quote that I absolutely love is when they say “You should’ve realized, Peter, that if Voldemort didn’t kill you, then we would. Together.” It so perfectly shows that even among Sirius & Remus’s differences, they both have that same loyalty that Lupin, even after he had matured, was 100% ready to break his usual character and get his hands dirty alongside Sirius.

The Marauders in particular surprised me. When I put aside the trouble making aspect, but just take the way they treated each other as friends is something that can only be found between males who are very close to each other and seeing this worked out so well from a female author surprised me. Of course, since I write fantasy myself, and I always advice to learn from the masters, I guess it's only obvious that Rowling is one of my "masters", and me being a male (I hope you guys didn't let my avatar, a character from my work who became my personal mascot over time for many reasons) I can only hope that the friendships in my work between female characters are really working the way as typically seen among female friends. I would personally have placed James & Sirius on #1 and the trio on #2, but I guess that's more of a personal choice. Of course the friendship between Sirius and Harry is also one to note. The two are very close, yet it not being listed here could be due to the bizarre "flavor" this friendship has, due to Harry actually replacing James in some ways, and since Harry is the spitting image of James (which has been mentioned so many times in the entire franchise that it becomes cliché) may not have helped. Several people having to remind him that Harry is not James, does very well contribute to this. Yet Harry and Sirius did stand up for each other and were always there for each other. It was a bit touching for me that Dumbledore even allowed Sirius (although disguised in his Animagus form) to remain with Harry when he was in his dreamless sleep in order to get some rest after he witnessed Voldemort's return and Cedric's death. So even though the friendship may not have been entirely "healthy" due to Sirius often taking Harry as replacement for James, I think Rowling did still do very well to work out the friendship.

Yeah, I think that kind of more of the fanon thing, although they were the only two of the group who were still Alice and remained friends after James's death, which might be why they get more attention than Sirius and James, since we actually get to know Sirius and Remus throughout the series.

Im not sure if this has been a topic discussed or not or if this is just some odd coincidence of the series but did you ever notice there was one KEY moment all 3 deathly hallows were in the same place at the same time? The night Harry obtained Slughorns memory he donned the invisibility cloak to Dumbledore's office. They watched the memory and came up with the plan to defeat the Horcruxes. Them being Voldemort's attempt to master death is a way to become a death-like character. An immortal force bringing death upon all who he chooses. In that moment all 3 hallows were there to once again master death. Dumbledore had the ring and the wand, harry the cloak. They were reunited under the same roof as the plan to defeat the most deadly wizard in history was formed. I noticed that while going through the audiobook just now. 🤯
