I also found a reference to Nightmare on Elm Street. In the upstairs area, when Quinn was slowly walking towards Sam, she scraped the knife along the mental pole, this was what Freddy did in the dreams to scare his victims

In case no one has mentioned it, there's the one dude on the subway stairs wearing a Mojo Jojo costume, probably in reference to Roger Jackson, who voices both Mojo Jojo and Ghostface

The wolf mask in the subway is absolutely a reference to the movie Creep, as the villain wears it in a really bizarre scene.

Some things I want to add: Jason's attire of his grey shirt and green jacket might be a reference to Squid Game, but I might be looking too deep. Ethan's last name of Landry might be a reference to Craig and Elise Landry from The Tortured. It also makes sense, as Craig and Elise seek vengeance against the serial killer who murdered their son, just like the Kirsch Family seeking vengeance against the Core Four for murdering Richie.

10:35 also reminds me of the era of flowers crowns in tumblr when pretty much every fandom at that time did that trend and by no surprise you also could see flowers crowns in fictional killers ( like Hannibal 2013) to actually serial killers like Ted Bundy, Columbine shooters ect. 😅

4:15 I know what you did last summer was also written by Kevin Williamson who also wrote Scream 1, 2, and 4. 30:41 and don't forget even though this isn't a horror film reference but when the characters enter the subway a person walks by wearing a mojo jojo costume from the Powerpuff girls who was also voiced by Roger L. Jackson who voices Ghostface in the Scream franchise.

And (not sure if someone else has mentioned this) I would like to add one more reference to Scream 2. it's when Sam speaks ill of Richie to detectives Bailey, his father. Sidney did the same thing being ironic about Billy to Mrs Loomis, his mother. I believe this counts as a reference, I'd like to hear your thoughts on that one, though, maybe it's just me.

Again, excellent video, great job Zack! Tara and Ethan's exchange near the end might also be a reference to the original "Scream" as well as "Scream 3". The "I always wanted to stick something in you!" likely/possibly being a reference to "I always had a thing for ya, Sid!" The font used in Richie's film is the same font as the famous opening credits to Twin Peaks which, while a TV show, also spawned a 1992 horror film "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me", though it probably wouldn't be included in the grid as I think the font is only in the TV show, not the film itself. Nevertheless, the TP reference is mentioned in a few articles, including one by Buzzfeed.

So the killer leaving behind Ghostface masks is a reference to Scream 3 where Roman leaves behind photos of Maureen/Rina. Also the killer leaving behind masks belonging to previous killers is a reference to Scream 2 where the first three victims were killed based on the having the same names as the original first three victims.

Excellent video. Very insightful. Loads of references I wouldn't have caught, especially in background of party and such. Curious, though, why you had no problem adding Rear Window and Vertigo to the grid - but not Judgement Night, etc. Rear Window is my favourite movie of all time and is very much a thriller. Vertigo is a drama-thriller. Unlike Psycho, I wouldn't classify either as horror, not even really horror-adjacent. Maybe very slightly due to murders, suspense, etc. But in that case, the thrillerish/murdery Judgement Night could be added to the grid too? Same with Nerve. I think all thrillers could be added to the grid? Also - great catch on 101 Dalmatians!! :)
