Ex-student of politics from Romania here. The definition of Zionism in this video is completely wrong. Zionism started off in the 1890s, when Theodor Herzl, an Austrian Jew, wrote a pamphlet called "Der Judenstaat." (The Jewish State). He thought this to be the best answer to the Jewish question, but, he did not envision it to be an exclusively Jewish state, as it wouldn't be very reasonable (you understand why). All Herzl wanted was for the Jews to have a safe haven in their ancestral homeland. It sought a secular government, where other ethnic groups could participate within its society and government without discrimination. Israel today is a secular country, housing a unicameral democratic assembly (called the Knesset) where each party has their own number of seats. Parties range from the Likud (National Liberal Party, moderate right conservatism), Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power, an ultranationalist party), Democrats (progressive, very secular), to the United Arab List (Islamist party). Second, some Orthodox groups oppose Zionism because they believe that they are still in exile, and so the Messiah must come to bring all the Jews of the world together, which would eventually result in the displacement of all non-Jews from the Holy Land.
