Hitler's war flattened thousands of cities and entire countries and had long-lasting effects on the entire world. Stalin and Mao were both incredibly evil despots, but they didn't destroy entire countries, and the effects of their regimes were confined mostly to their own countries. I'd argue Hitler was worse for the entire world population as a whole.
