You can tell who is from ahil asunnah when you can see that they warn people against following sects other than ahil asunnah. Such as ashari,, deobonis, berelvy... In fact they are the worst because they are difficult to identify as deviants themselves. He was also involved with defending haitham haddad and yasir qadhi. That's enough for me to know he is not from ahil asunnah. Allah’s Messenger (salallāhu ‘alaihi wasallam) said: “My ummah will divide into 73 sects, all of them will be in the Fire except for one, and that is the Jamā’ah.” It was said, “And who are they, O Allah’s Messenger?” He (salallāhu ‘alaihi wasallam) responded, “That which I and my Companions are upon today.” the Prophet (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Whoever innovates or "gives protection" to an innovator therein, upon him is the curse of Allah, of the angels and of all the people.” This is a hadīth reported by Muslim (1371). Abdullāh ibn Mas’ood (radiyallāhu ‘anhu), stated that the Prophet (salallāhu ‘alaihi wasallam) said: “Indeed, Islam began as something strange, and it will return to being strange just as it began, so glad tidings of paradise be for the strangers.” It was said to the Prophet (salallāhu ‘alaihi wasallam): “Who are they?” He (salallāhu ‘alaihi wasallam) responded, “They are those who rectify when the people become corrupted.” This Hadith has been collected by Muslim, at-Tirmidhi, Ahmad, and other than them from the scholars of hadeeth, and it has been declared authentic by Al-Albani. Innovation in the sense of innovating into the religion and not technological innovation. It means to not add anything new into the religion as the prophet saw said every innovation is misguidance and it will all be in the hellfire. Things like cars and phones is not what it refers to.
