The deal with the Oakleys is that polarized lenses are not approved for flight. The reason being is that the canopy is polarized and you cannot see thru two polarized lenses at the same time. Wear a pair of polarized glasses and look at a Range Rover or Jaguar windscreen; you'll be seeing a "checkerboard effect"

I was surprised to hear him say the green finger lights helped preserve night vision. Red is typically used in cockpit at night for that because the rod cells which cover most of the retina and are about 3000x more sensitive than the RGB color sensing cone cells don’t react to red light but would to green. On the other hand because the rod cells are so sensitive to green it would take less light for the finger lights to be effective for illuminating what the hands are pointing at in the cockpit so perhaps that is why green is used.

AC-130s aren't the tip of the spear in an air campaign. You wait for other assets like Growlers, Stealth bombers, Himars, Tomahawks, fast movers, etc. to soften the air defenses of an adversary. Not that there aren't ways for AC-130s to prosecute targets before Air Supremacy, as there are. AC-130s had many missions in the opening days of OIF and Desert Storm.

Why the AC-130 crews fly in fatigues and not in flight suit as the others Air Force crews? Are their fatigues made in nomex like any other flame resistant flight suit?

we used the two piece flight suits in AMC now, and AFSOC has for awhile. They are nomex, so much more functional and you can take the top off during preflight/cargo loading ops. We can also wear the green flight suits as well still. Female flyers like them because they are more suited for their bodies and as one pilot told me they make it easier when sitting down to pee in the lav, as opposed to a flight suit

I never even went to jungle school and now I know what it’s like because they just did 1 hour of it. Where is the Chinese jungle school video? I want to see how they work as an infantry platoon to exploit that as intel for when im in a war with them. Oh wait lol. They’ll be doing that to us. Classified or not, the world has no business seeing how we work. KZbin isn’t exclusive to America.
