Cena's match against HHH also achieves of level of awesomeness due to the Chicago crowd, who was quite hostile to Cena, despite them trying to book HHH as the clear heel. In fact, the Chicago crowd was so overwhelmingly anti-Cena, they acknowledged it on commentary, something they rarely did--although they attributed it to Chicago fans being more into traditional wrestling than anti-Cena hate. However, it was that match that likely prompted the shift, where they were willing to acknowledge on camera that Cena was not universally loved by the fans.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I actually prefer WM 29’s Cena vs Rock over WM XXVIII’s Cena vs Rock. The reason is because there was honestly a lot more going into this match than the year before. Cena won the Rumble, Rock was WWE Champion, and the build was great. On top of that there’s the fact that Rock legitimately was injured and still powered through to give us a great match. Both their matches were great, but I feel the rematch just gave us that feel good moment and a proper ending to their feud.
