My favorite is actually the Lego Jurassic World game, which ACTUALLY remakes the stories from all 4 movies up to that point, so it is technically a Jurassic Park game and a game for all 3 other movies!

My first ever PS1 game was the Lost World. It was hard as nails but I eventually got good at it. I loved mowing down everything as the bull rex. I didn't like the human sections because I hated killing the dinos, lol. Man, that game has some beautiful environments and the score was fantastic. I'm glad they used some of the tracks in that game for the first Jurassic World. Nice touch.

I absolutely loved this video from beginning to end. As someone who grew up with a ton of these games and is looking forward to the Classic Games Collection, this was a real treat. Dunno if anyone else has pointed this out, but fun fact... your character in The Chaos Continues actually IS Alan Grant. The manual (which you can find scans of online if you're curious - it has some sick ads for the Kenner toys) hilariously presents the story synopsis as a letter from John Hammond to Alan Grant, explaining how they've been working to get the park running again... and that BioSyn has sent a small army to Nublar to try and take over. And Hammond asks Grant to return to the island with a Tactical Sergeant dude named Michael Wolfskin (the second player's character in co-op) and kick some BioSyn ass (and also gives them clearance to eliminate the Velociraptors and even the freakin' T.rex - yeah, get rid of your star attraction, great idea!). And then he ends the letter with "My regards to Ellie", as if it's just a casual letter between friends and that he didn't just send a freakin' paleontologist to fight a bunch of armed mercenaries. So not only does The Chaos Continues feature the return of Rambo Grant, but his rampage across Isla Nublar is 100% John Hammond approved. The kindly, eccentric old grandfather from the movie is totally down with sending a paleontologist to go and murder his rival company's mercenaries by the fuckton. Amazing. (Novel!Hammond probably seriously would be down with it, for the record)

The fun part of Jurassic Park video games is that developers back in the day thought video games = Contra, = Mario, = Sonic. On top of that, Alan Grant had (rarely wore) a fedora, so he's basically Indiana Jones vs. dinosaurs. And that's exactly what we got. Indiana Jones in blue shirt, running and gunning down dinosaurs. In reality, these movies are not exactly third person action game material.

I was only a month old. 3) I own the NES version, though I got it many years later. I hated it. 4) Seeing the cabinet for the arcade version reminded me of the similar one for Lost World. Me and my sister used to play it at Chuck E. Cheese back in the day. 5) No, it was promoting Jurassic Park: The Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood. It even says Universal Studios Hollywood on top.

Ya know its likely that the developers read the book. I am thankful for our mostly literate society because the rewards are things like this that added an extra special something to a video game experience. I agree that the genesis version was best overall for style and implementation. But the snes version had a good concept but with less than sophisticated implementation. The reason mostly being limited hardware and experience with 3d, I think.
