Canonically, the reason link always wakes up at the start is because it is the awakening of a new hero. Interestingly, games that don’t have a new hero like majoras mask, Link doesn’t start out asleep but usually is knocked out and those awakenings are more for the start of a new journey

I feel like interacting with anything that has red on it, even if the red part isnt touched, is a bit much cause it means some of these games end right as or even before you get the sword. Especially since if I remember right it wasn't a rule before, the color object could be used if he didn't touch the color on the thing itself, why is it a rule now?

Yeah, makes no sense. Interacting with objects that happen to have the color and actually touching the color on the said objects are two different things in this case.

1) Come on! Cutscenes shouldn't count! It's not even a cutscene, it's perspective! Anyway there wasn't any sort of contact. 2) I mean, THIS GIANT BACKGROUND don't count but the sword in FRONT of the Old Man does? 4) so the pink/magenta floor counts... 6) ...but not the pink flowers
