I actually love Henry Cavill's Suit and portrayal as Superman. He's irreplacable due to his accurate body proportion to what a real life Superman would be. Dark storylines are also a lot interesting more than just a direct rip off from a lighthearted comic. Superman bears the weight of responsibility of becoming the best of two homeworlds - Earth and Krypton. He's struggle for identity as Earthling or Kryptonian makes Superman movies nowadays a lot darker. Superman gives hope, but his opponents doesn't. That's what makes it dark.

For me, the Man of Steel Superman suite is the best as it gives a more alien feel than others and removing the red knickers is the best part, rather than sticking to the traditional comic style used their creativity and modernity in this suit which is the best part. I don't feel like making the characters comic accurate is great, they must use the cinematic liberty tool to make the characters more realistic in the real life .

Great video. I also like the Brandon Routh suit, a good update on the classic look. No OTT fake muscles or bad fit, just a simple good looking suit. Bizarrely, the one actor who is so muscular that he didn't need fake muscles, he gets the most obviously fake muscle suit!!.. If only Henry Cavill had worn a Routh or Reeve type suit.

You missed one, dude. And it wasn't that long ago, either. I think I may be the only person who remembers that Brandon Routh also had an all black suit. It was very briefly seen as Mama Kent went out to the field after Clark crashes his ship. Martha holds him in her arms & Clark is sporting his traveling suit. It's identical to his classic red & blue, only completely black. If the Man of Steel black suit gets a mention, this should, too.

I remember not being crazy about Routh's suit at the time, but looking back on it, I think it was really good. I always felt bad for him not getting a second shot at Superman, so it will be interesting to see him playing Kingdom Come Superman on the CW's version of COIE.

I was really pleasantly surprised to see Brandon Routh's suit ranked so highly. Despite how others may feel, I thought that was a very great movie. Then once I got the box set of the original Christopher Reeve movies with Superman Returns and saw how much work went into making the suit such as laser inscribing the House of El insignia throughout the whole suit, I loved it even more. What made me happier still was to see #1. Despite all the technology we have to make awesome looking suits, nothing can ever beat Christopher Reeve not only as Superman but as a human being

I know you are doing a list for Live-Action Superman suits but I have always like the way the (Seinfeld) Bowen Statue represents Superman. The proportions are awesome. The color so good. Totally agree on #1. Christopher Reeve is Superman, like RDJ is Iron Man. The Reeve suit is almost perfect, imo. The only thing I liked better about MoS suit is the flowing cape. Put that length cape on the Reeve suit and you have perfection.

Honestly, I feel that most of the suits, regardless of how classic they are will never beat the Cavill designs. They just look far more useable and a lot less cheap.

Superman suit is made be his mom. It doesn't need to be some advance alien design

Alex Wilson thank you! I completely agree, i think the BVS is best suit.I wish people would get that the red trunks look ridiculous now.Batman has moved away from them, Magneto, and countless others, why do people feel that Superman needs them?

Wondy Clave In all the modern incarnations he doesn’t have the red trunks though.I understand the golden age and silver age had it but we are far from those days and things change.I just feel all costumes need to change and get updated with each passing generation.

I agree with you that Brandon Routh could have and should have been one of the greats - #2, in fact, behind Christopher Reeve. Great looking actor for the role! Unfortunately the story was awful. I have this movie, and I watch parts of it regularly. Similar to Andrew Garfield's ASM2 costume. I watch parts of that movie frequently, because the suit is so bad ass. But the movie was terrible.
