I love the Kingdom Come suit but I think it's in part because Brandon is in it - it just seems made perfectly for him. I'm surprised they put so much effort into it honestly given how little screen time there was.

The Kingdom Come suit is my favorite, hands down (especially the version at the very end where they put the yellow back in the crest). I love how they used the "S" shape to give it texture like they did with the Returns suit, only it feels like it works better here. They also fixed the neckline, which was actually my biggest gripe with the Superman Returns suit. I like the Man of Steel suit and the BvS suit, but I feel that while they have some exquisite craftsmanship behind them I feel they are ultimately a bit over-designed (this is especially true for the Justice League suit).

Mine will always be Christopher Reeve's Superman Costume. It was perfect. Cape wasn't too long to the feet, S emblem design was great, yellow emblem on the cape was great and im sure the colors and same design can be replicated for a modern version for modern audiences if made outta same material as Cavill's only with brighter colors.

I really like Chris Reeve's suit, the necklace is just the right cut, the cape, I generally like it to reach my ankles or even touch the floor, but it has the minimum length and a good fall, and it even has the gold s , a detail that almost no other version respects. The proportions of the belt, underwear and boots are perfect, and I love the colors, as a whole it is a copy and paste of the classic Superman suit from the comics. My only small problem is that for my taste the s is a little misshapen, I would add the design from the Superboy series, which I think has the perfect design and proportion, maybe I would put it a little higher on the chest .

Brandon Routh's Kingdom Come suit is the shade of blue and red that I wish Tyler Hoechlin's Superman suit was.

I re-watched Lois and Clarke a while back and It still has one of those moments that have stuck with me over the years with Clarke on the phone with his mother asking her how to get bomb stains out of his suit

I am not a fan of the Man of Steel suit. Superman's suit should not have texture or fake muscles. It certainly shouldn't look like a basketball. So I would rank every suit from the last 20 years quite low. The pre-Christopher Reeve suits are decent, but the George Reeves suit doesn't place the cape up high enough on his neck. The Kirk Alyn suit is better in that regard, but it looks a little too much like a sweater instead of a unitard. That leaves the Superboy/Superman suit and the Lois & Clark suit as the top two. But I'd give the edge to the suit that first appeared in the 1978 film. Dean Cain's suit looks a little too much like a costume for a TV show and not enough like something that a professional wrestler might wear. (The ideal look for Superman's suit--minus the cape--would be something that wouldn't be out of place in 1980s Wrestlemania, essentially a flashier and more garish version of actual athletic clothing. The costume should show off the actor's real physique.)

What some people don’t know is that the reason the theatrical release of Justice League Superman’s suit had the silver plates was because the studio didn’t allow for Snyder to have the black suit because it was deemed to dark/depressing and if he ever got the chance fix the suit in post they added the plating to make it easier to change in post.

Of Dean's two classic costumes, the pilot suit has a great neckline (exposing more pecs) but the exaggerated cape shoulders ruin it. The second version is better with smaller cape and slighter smaller "S" (though I miss the pecs). Tyler Hoechlan's Supergirl costume has a similar issue with the huge shoulder clasps actually making his chest look less broad. His new costumes for Superman & Lois fixes that. We get a kick-ass Fleischer suit, too! I loved the smaller "S" and shorts on Routh's first costume and he looks even better in the Kingdom Come version. Reeve, Newton & Christopher share a classic costume. Alyn & Reeves are products of their time (HUGE underwear) but fit their stories nicely. Cavill's suit design/texture combined with his sheer muscle size wins for me, though I agree the brighter suit looks too plastic. I'm looking forward to how Zach recolors it.

I think the only suit I'd put over the Man of Steel suit, is the one from Shazam. It's basically the MOS suit, but with brighter colors and some red around the belt area. But for the suits used in this video, I like your ranking.

How can you put the Superboy suits in with the Kirk Alyn/George Reeves suits? They’re very different designs and the S is a completely different shape. The Superboy suits were much more in line with the Reeve films. Also it’s Christoper Reeve, not Reeves and it’s Routh not Rouths lol We’re going to be doing a suit ranking on our show once the new Superman and Lois suit drops.

you know, I kinda feel bad for Christopher reeve's suit. its till my favourite, but on most current ranking videos it no longer cracks the top 2. I understand it is little old but its the suit that I think of when I think of superman

These videos are made mostly by people that are at most age 30, but probably teenagers/early 20s. The people commenting are mostly kids too, so ofcourse everyone will say the most current or most recent version of Superman or Batman is the best. For those of us over 35 or 40, it sucks though that Christopher Reeve doesn't get his recognition. Kids today are already shitting on the Nolan/Bale Dark Knight trilogy and saying only Robert Pattinsons' 8 hour Batman movie is the best.

For me, I like the general design of the Snyder suits a lot, the Man of Steel suit is good (I also wish it was brighter)... but to me, it feels like the "man of steel Superman", he feels like a version of the character, and interpretation of Superman... but Christopher Reeve in his suit just feels like Superman, the "Real" Superman... it's so accurate to the comics of the time and it looks so good on screen Obviously they fit different vibes, but does anyone know what I mean? It's kind of abstract and totally subjective, but the 1978 suit just feels like they took the character and brought it to life, and it looks great!

I’d be perfectly fine with the cape clips on the CW suit if it weren’t for those belt looking bits there They barely even look like part of the cape and the only reason they do look like part of the cape is because due to their placement they pretty much have to be. If it were a normal cape with the corners just kinda bunched into the cape clips that would look pretty dope (I’m also not a fan of the tucked in look, just doesn’t have the right presence for me, I can’t explain it in a reasonable way)

I think the color grade made a big difference in BvS suit and Justice League suit. BvS's looked badass cause of that dark background, where as Justice League's just brought out that ugly silver plating imo.

Brandon Routh is hands down the best. If Henry Cavill had the red underwear intergrated, then I would say that suit is the best but it falls to second. Routh’s version is a classic design with a modern texture. I think it could be improved to have the symbol embossed like Cavill’s... if you could blend the two together, that would be the ultimate live action.

For me my favorite Superman live action suits are Christopher Reeve from the original Superman movies , Brandon Routh's Kingdom Come Superman from the crisis crossover and eventually when we get an official look at the suit and in the series Tyler Hoechlin's new Superman suit from Superman & Lois. And I can't wait to see Tyler's new Superman costume for Superman & Lois when The CW official releases higher quality photos of the costume !!! I did not dislike the original suit from Supergirl Season 2 & the crossovers but those shoulder straps / cape clasps not that great.

The suit must definitely have trunks. The trunks should be red and not be boxer shorts. Superman is also an emblem of the mid 20th century, which should be respected and all physical men wore trunks. If you want hyper sexual muscle gear, there are plenty of other role models. The suit shouldn't be armour, but it should be integral to the character's identity.

I never understood why people make a huge deal about Superman not wearing red trunks/briefs in modern iterations. I get that it is the definitive look for Superman but it's not the 1950's anymore. Ive never seen anyone complaining about Batman and other superheros not having trunks anymore but Superman always gets backlash for it
