For those who are judging 1.15 and 1.18: The Buzzy Bees update was focused on fixing many of the bugs (many of which were disruptive to gameplay) that were left behind by the 1.13 and 1.14 updates. Without this update, Minecraft would be a very broken game today. Caves and Cliffs Part 2 focused on rewriting much of the world generation code, which made it easier for developers and content creators to make their own custom biomes in mods. In addition, this update also brought two new biomes, along with a major world expansion (negative coordinates and a new height limit) and 10 new soundtracks.

Buzzy Bees was a major update though. Small but it did fix loads of bugs. Although I think Bees are Unique because you can collect Honey which is used to make Honey Blocks, Honeycomb Blocks, Candles & Waxing Copper Blocks to prevent it from Oxidising.

That's the World of Color Update (1.12) I'm from the 1.7 to 1.8 transition player. But I think 1.12. is the best even now, to play this game. Because it still conserve the ''essence'' and mysteriousness of the game. Nowadays is just filled with too much stuff. Also the Caves&Cliff update just broke somehow (for me) the game scheme. I don't know you, but I hate those deepslates blocks on those lower levels, which are too much of it imo. Also I hate those phantoms. So yeah! I think 1.12 is overall the best. It's a balance between old and new.

1:29 it's kind of new, but i joined minecraft here (June 3, 2020) and have both minecraft in nintendo switch (1.15 - now) and phone (1.21 - now) Edit: 1.22 will add: pale garden, pale wood (wood, planks, doors, trapdoors, etc...) the creaking (spawn egg and spawn generator), pale garden biome and the system of updates changed, meaning we will have 2 MINECRAFT LIVES in a year, and the update will be released between December 2024 to Janurary 2025.

Beta 1.5 gang here! The caves and cliffs update did a complete overhaul of the terrain generation. It also added biome blending, an increased world height limit, changes to mob spawning mechanics, a multitude of performance improvements, new cave and mountain biomes and more dynamic ore generation. I never see y'all complain about 1.1 back in 2012 only adding mob spawn eggs.
