My friend, just because a game share similar game mechanics, doesn’t mean that it’s a Mario easter egg. If that would be the case, then Sonic’s rings is a reference to Mario only because 100 collected rings means a 1-up

16:34 When written out in Japanese, Olimar (オリマ) is Mario (マリオ) backwards! It was indeed intentional, but didn’t translate to other languages, sadly.

22:03 Nope. Just nope. Splatoon originated from a tech demo, which evolved into rabbits being the main characters, to squids. But if you want to know more, just go watch the Beta64 video on the development of Splatoon. You pointing out similarities can give people the wrong idea of the development of Splatoon.

Actually, the warp whistle from Super Mario 3 was a Zelda easter egg, rather than the wind ocarina of Minish Cap being a Mario easter egg! The warp whistle in Super Mario Bros. 3 plays the same tune as a similar item from the original Legend of Zelda game which came before SMB3, the Minish Cap wind ocarina's tune was was a reference to that. Ocarina of Time's title theme contains a reference to that tune as well.

The Mario 1-Up sound in Anamal Crossing New Horizon when striking the money rock multiple times makes sense because in the older Mario games you are awarded a 1-Up with 100 coins, and yes it will play the jingle.

6:44: Kagero isn't their sister. Also, Saizo and Kaze are part of Fire Emblem's Cain and Abel archetype, where almost every single entry in the series has a pair of units that are themed red and green. Mind you, I think Saizo and Kage are the only Cain and Abel archetype that are brothers, and I have no idea if the Cain and Abel archetype are a reference to Mario and Luigi to begin with. 27:51 Mamu is Wart's Japanese name. Specifically, Mamu was the main antagonist of Dokidoki Panic. His name was changed to 'Wart' when that game became Super Mario Bros. 2 in the US. However, when the American Super Mario Bros. 2 was released as Super Mario USA in Japan, he was back to being referred to as Mamu again.

“Kamek” refers to a specific Magikoopa that’s Bowser’s right-hand woman. She’s usually depicted as being very old, much older than the rest of her kind
@AstraBlight6 ай бұрын
No Kamek is the general name for the robed magic user. you're thinking of Kammy koopa, the purple robed kamek she's also only really canon in the paper Mario series, outside of there she is replaced by a kamek that raised Bowser from a baby.

The amount of correlation between the 3D Super Mario installments and the core series Pokémon installments is honestly shocking the more you stop and think about how well some of these games match up with each other. Not only did both collections of installments begin in 1996, but even the themes of the games match. Here’s some of the more notable comparisons: 1996: Original games 2002: Tropical themed games 2006-07: Space themed games 2013: Emphasis on 3D 2016-17: Celebrations of the first game The comparisons are so consistent, in fact, that in 2022 I began working on a sense-discontinued crossover project between Pokémon and these 3D Super Mario games. The 2D games don’t fit into this nearly as well, either, but even if they did we haven’t gotten a new 3D Super Mario game since Odyssey, unless you count Bowser’s Fury I suppose. College fatigue and a lack of new 3D Mario led to me losing motivation to work on the project for the foreseeable future, unless something changes.

If you do non-Nintendo games and crossovers/easter eggs/references, one of my favorites is from Hitman WOA. In Sapienza, a coastal town based on Italy, you can find a red and green plumber NPC in the sewers and can even wear their costumes. In Celeste, one of the Crystal Hearts puzzles is a reference to SMB 3, I think.

Regarding Pokemon, Girafarig's tail head looks suspiciously like a chomp. Also, Lyra(the female PC from HGSS) has an outfit that looks like a cross between Mario and a Toad. Also, perhaps they aren't obvious in the in-game models, but Talon and Malon have matching Bowser brooches in their character art for Ocarina of Time.
