Nintendo stopped putting out N64 games in North America in May 2001, 6 months before the GameCube came out. This was the first time Nintendo completely halted first party support within a year of the next system's release, but it wouldn't be the last. The GameCube only had five first party games come out after November 2005: Mario Strikers, Chibi-Robo, Odama, Baten Kaitos Origin, and Twilight Princess. With the exception of maybe Twilight Princess and Mario Strikers, none of these were necessarily big sellers. The last original first Wii game was Xenoblade in April 2012, with only a Pikmin 2 port and a Kirby collection coming out after it. And then there's the Wii U, which Nintendo pretty much wanted to abandon by the end of 2014.
@Kyle07 Жыл бұрын
At least they released Super Mario Maker in 2015. I never had a Wii U, so Super Mario Maker 2 was a highly wanted title for me to buy a Nintendo Switch finally. I wonder if Nintendo ever made Mario Maker when the Wii U would be super successful.

Paper Mario Color Splash was released in 2016? I think. And BotW in 2017. It didn't receive the attention it deserved by the audience (due to bad marketing as we all know), but it doesn't mean Nintendo stopped investing time in it.
@taylorfrench6722 Жыл бұрын
@@parappatherapper4141 Well yeah, they probably started developing Color Splash long before 2016, and we know for a fact that they started developing BOTW in at least 2013, probably 2012 or earlier. They weren't going to abandon years of development and millions of dollars just because their console was failing. And any games that they started developing for Wii U in 2015 or 2016 were shifted over to the Switch.
@monumentvalley6681 Жыл бұрын
@@taylorfrench6722 It's true that most Wii U games were ported to the Switch, but to say that Nintendo gave up on the Wii U at the end of 2014 is incorrect. If that were the case, they would had paused development on all the games I mentioned in my previous comment so they could be released exclusively for the Switch.

It's funny how NFL Blitz Special edition is the only one that actually release post-Gamecube in the US, even though the others were still new. That was right around the time I left FuncoLand, and I remembered having all but Blitz Special Edition in stock, but I knew I left right before the GC launch, so I had to double check those dates. The N64 was beyond dead long before 2001. Majora's Mask and Super Smash Bros were really the last games that customers cared about. The Dreamcast might not have been able to stand up to the PS2, but it sure helped put the N64 to rest. Game releases slowed to a crawl after the DC launch, and even though it's a system I have a lot of affection for, I remember the sentiment all of us at the store had at the time, which was that it was just a wasteland of racing games. When you cut out all of the racing, wrestling, amd sports games from the N64 library, it is shocking how little is left.

If you did a PS4 or Xbox One version of this video, it would be hours long. It's amazing how much console generations overlap now.
@elhehe8476 Жыл бұрын
It’s not that they overlap. It’s just that there was no need to release the “next generation” this early. The games aren’t even that innovative on a graphical aspect. Not to mention the only true gimmick they were able to sell was the SSD with faster loading times. Other than that. It’s hard to push the envelope with graphics. Which in my opinion really doesn’t validate the reason to buy a PS5 or Series X. Tell me are there really any games out there right now worth jumping ship? Maybe just Spider-Man 2 but other than that it’s been lackluster in the next generation.

November 2001. I saw videos online of this awesome new 3D Treasure N64 game called Sin & Punishment. I was practically drooling. So I did the same thing & it worked!!! I don't have my N64 any more but I still have my Sin & Punishment complete in box. I remember being a bit sad that their were so ridiculously few N64 releases after the GameCube came out. The NES had a small handful of good games after the SNES' release, and the SNES had at least one or two good games after N64's release, but the N64 wasn't so lucky. THPS 3 is the only one that's really notable, but by the time it was released (in the back half of 2003 believe it or not) there were very few people still interested in buying N64 games. N64 was really quite the oddity. Weird controller, bizarre game format choice for 1996, and very limited amount of games compared to pretty much every other successful game console ever. Still, it was an excellent console overall because *most* of the games on it were decent at the very worst. There were a surprisingly small amount of garbage games on it. The only thing that really hurt it in terms of the game library is a severe lack of RPG's. (By the way, Zelda, Harvest Moon, Hercules, and Mega Man 64 don't count, although that last one does come super duper close. The Pokemon Stadium games do halfway count, but those are more like expansions to the Game Boy games. On their own (without the Game Boy games and transfer pak) there isn't much there. So that leaves you with about 6 RPG's on the console, and half of those are trash.)

Hasselbeck was actually probably our best QB of all time in Seattle. Very underated and absolutely better than Wilson. Please don't hate on Matt ever again. Thank you, come again.
