The Allan NASB 1995 is hands down the best! Love the vbv layout, centre column references with vertical lines just looks miles better than the 2020 LPut in paragraph and no vertical lines. Allan makes the most beautiful bibles. ❤

Out of curiosity, have you ever reviewed a small 1995 NASB from Lockman in the small Pitt Minion-style format with genuine leather? I bought one around the year 2000 and LOVED it until I lost it. It's not only out of print, but it can't be found second-hand.

My primary Bible is the wide margin NASB 95 from Cambridge in black goatskin. One of the first gifts my wife ever bought me. Love it.

The Lamb HIStory book is beautiful to look at and you can't compare it with the others it is so different. I like the clean look of two columns with references at the bottom and red accents 😊

I went with the brand new Lockman goatskin 95. I love it. You can preach from it and all the references are there and it’s not crowded. It is my number one. It’s beautiful. My true preference would have been to do the old single column reference, but just bold the translators notes I think that would’ve been the ultimate.

I agree with you. Several years ago, I decided to read the Bible from Genesis 1 through Revelation 22 and picked the NASB95; a translation I hadn't read before. So I purchased a Cambridge Clarion in brown calfskin and it was one of the most enjoyable reading experiences I've had. Recently I acquired a Humble Lamb HIStory NASB2020 and new Cambridge NASB2020 Topaz. I look forward to comparing the 2020 version with the 1995 version right after I finish reading the Apocrypha. Thanks for the excellent comparison, Tim. I'd like to see more of these comparisons from you.

Literally just ordered an RL Allan NASB reference today (black goatskin; red under gold. I’m a sucker for black goatskin and much prefer red to blue under the gilt…easier on my eyes). I wanted the 1995 translation also. However, I’m still wishing I’d waited to see this video first. 😂

The NASBy has been my favorite since 1998. We've had the NASB for 25 years before it received an update in 2020. The New Living Translation, however, first published in 1996, has since been revised in 2004, and then small revisions in 2007, and then more smaller revisions in 2013, and then a larger revision in 2015. I wonder if publishers get frustrated and just give up on publishing a translation that goes through so many revisions (even the NLT logo has been updated at least two more times since 1996). Even the 2017 CSB, which is really a revision of the 2004 HCSB (which was revised in 2009), has been revised yet again in 2020. I wonder if all the revisions exhaust publishers. As always--awesome video!!! This is one of my favorite videos. I can only choose one of those Bibles: I loved the Zondervan Side-Column Reference. I went back and forth between that one and the Cambridge Clarion but landed on Zondervan.

I'm a NASB95 guy. My #1 would be the Allan NASB R1 followed by the Steadfast Handy-size The Preacher's bible. I use the PSQ the most since it's my everyday carry.

Another great video Tim, thank you! I have the Cambridge Clarion in NASB for a compact size, and then the Schuyler Quentel Wide Margin just because something made me go big (it’s beautiful). I WISH there was a mid-size (bigger H x W dimensions and slightly thinner, little less chunky) version of the Clarion. I personally love the single column paragraph and there aren’t many versions like that in NASB 95.

Thank you for not using that atrocious word “Naz Bee”. I have a Cambridge leather edition that came out just after the 1995 revision. (I have no idea what series it is. I didn’t even know they had different series until I started watching your videos.)

My answer to your question is, the one I would choose is the Humble Lamb edition, just because I like what HL does and how they do it, but these you've shown are all beautiful. I would love to see this many options for every version and translation, from premium to value editions. You should consider doing one of these for KJV, NKJV, ESV & CSB, at least for currently available editions. Another very thorough and very cool presentation. Thanks and God Bless you, Sir.

The Nasb95 Cambridge WM has been my go-to for many years now, but I think the Schuyler WM is the premium of all premiums for build quality but it's not portable at all (can't fit it into my laptop bag, nor is it comfortable to preach from) and I don't really like the format. But Allan's R1 is the best layout of any bible, and for sure the best Nasb95 premium, but it's not a wide margin. If they made an Nasb95 R1 WM then that would be everything to me. Tim, please, make Allan do an R1 WM!

I would choose the Humble Lamb from this lot simply for the esthetics of it. Personally, I have the NASB95 Passaggio Setting Bible from Zondervan. If steadfast/316pub would make a reference edition of the handy size that would be my one. Since they don’t I’m going with Allan for the notebook paper. I need zondervan to make a midsize single column vbv reference in comfort print wrapped in Schuyler’s black pearl calfskin. That’s all I need.

@carmennooner20278 ай бұрын
I almost passed on this video because I can't afford Premium Bibles. However, my years of shopping experience have taught me that often times, publishers will also do lesser expensive Bibles using the Premium block but wrapping it up in a faux leather, and even, occasionally, hard cover, though somewhat rare. I need to watch this video again because you flew by them all rather quickly. I know what I want so watching this video again, pausing where necessary, should hopefully steer me toward the one I want. :)
@erichoehn82628 ай бұрын
I wonder if the reason that the NASB is given the premium treatment by more publishers is that even though the NLT sells more over all, those who use the NASB are more likely to purchase premium editions. Teens and college students may use the NLT more than the NASB, but they can't afford the premium editions.

Which one has the largest font? That's all I want to know. The two Bibles I have are the Zondervan NASB 1995 Thinline with the blue buffalo and the 10.5-point font (so-called large print). This is getting to be uncomfortable for me, but it's small enough to take places, so I wound up buying my very first reading glasses at the young age of 41. The other one I use at home is the Super Giant Print NASB 1995 with 16.5-point font that I found on sale for $29.14. This one is pretty flimsy, with no page guilding and fake leather, but it's really easy to read without getting jumbled up or squinting.

As a Catholic, I'm envious of all the gorgeous Bible options that Protestants have to pick from. We just don't get many nice Catholic options like this with the deuterocanon included. That Humble Lamb edition is amazing. I also really like the Jerusalem Cross design on the Schuyler covers.

The NRSVue has a really nice premium from Zondervan with Apocrypha. But you're right not as many premium options.
@msctshrly6 ай бұрын
What a luxury to have all these options for the NASB! You’re missing the Steadfast NASB Compact (not LPC). 😇 Steadfast also did premium 1995 editions of the Lockman Giant Print, the 25th Anniversary Lockman SCR, and the legendary original Preacher’s Bible, but these are sadly OOP. Also OOP are the Allan SCRs in Highland goatskin. I’d love to have one in the new SCR format, but it’s hard to image that coming to fruition with Lockman’s Prime series on the market. The first edition of the Steadfast Preacher’s Bible-Handy Size by RJ is perhaps the finest NASB ever produced. The current Korean prints are good but not as luxurious.

TCR recommendation for publishers is SINGLE Column! Double Column with double column references makes a very very very short text per column. I really don't know why they never realised that TCR is screaming for single column Bible text. I would also suggest that the TCR should be in the gutter. I just can't handle my TCR, too untidy and distracting in person 4 columns per page 😢.
