@@JABoyle3875 So what has Seattle done with the Wilson trade? Two 9-8 seasons, no playoff wins, and the defense that they tried to shore up using Denver's picks still ended up being porous. I mean yes, Seattle got Boye Mafe and Devon Witherspoon out of the trade, who are good players. But their success hasn't resulted in much team success (at least not yet). If I'm being honest, we probably wouldn't be talking about this trade so much if Denver didn't sign Wilson to that bloated contract before he even played a down for them, which was a huge problem separate from the trade itself. Meanwhile, Houston has netted Will Anderson, Tank Dell, and Christian Harris from the trade, who all contributed to the Texans' turnaround this season. The Boller trade stings even more when you realize that Boller played during the prime years of Ray Lewis and Ed Reed. While Reed would eventually win a ring with the victory at Super Bowl 47, it makes you wonder if the Ravens had stability under center, they would have been a more competitive team (and consequently, a shorter wait). Everyone mocks the Browns for their QB carousel, but the Ravens also had that same problem until Flacco stabilized that position, and Boller was just one of the QBs given a chance under center.

My favorite bad trade of all time is the infamous 1982 bucs draft day trade. Where they accidentally selected offensive lineman Sean Farrell in the 1st rd instead of edge rusher booker reese. They then got desperate and traded away a 1st rd pick in the legendary 1983 draft to get Reese in the 2nd rd of the 1982 draft. After botching doug Williams and losing him to free agency they needed a qb in 1983 where they could’ve selected Dan Marino (or any other hof in 83 draft) at the 18th spot instead of where he actually went 27th overall to the dolphins but because of their blunder the year before they lost their pick to the bears who selected Willie gault.

Funny thing about the Detroit Lions, the QB they replaced Layne with was none other than Tobin Rote, who just came from THE GREEN BAY PACKERS! He would win them their last NFL title to date in 1957 (the year my parents were born, and the year Lambeau Field opened), and on the 50th anniversary of Bobby Layne's trade in 2008, the Lions went 0-16. You also really understated how BAD the John Hadl trade was, because it literally led to the 70's and 80's Packers, it got Dan Devine to force himself to resign from coaching and GM, and put the Packers into the Shadow of Lombardi which they didn't get rid of until 1992. Bart Starr and Forest Gregg would coach the Packers for a combined 13 seasons from starting in 1975 through 1987 never getting over 8 wins. Worse the trade was made because Devine thought he could do better at QB than Scott Hunter who was the last QB to win a division for the Packers as well as win 10 games, he was also one of just 5 QB's to start a full season for the Packers between Bart Starr and Favre. To me, this offseason move was FAR worse than drafting Tony Mandarich because of its effects, Mandarich was a silver lining where he was so bad it finally forced the Packers to get with the times and CHANGE! Speaking of Favre, according to Favre himself when talking to the GM (iirc) after he got drafted, the GM asked which Mississippi school did he go to? Favre answered Southern Miss, and the GM realized he fucked up by saying they drafted the wrong MS QB cuz they wanted the QB from Miss St.. Favre realized they didn't want him to begin with and partied his way out of Atlanta to GB, and the rest is history.

As a Cards fan of many decades, I didn't like the Kolb trade when it happened, but over time I ended up more neutral on it. Kolb looked shaky out of the gate, and ultimately injuries ended his career before it really started, but in the middle he actually did look like a pretty solid QB, certainly good enough to justify what we gave up. There was also talks at the time that Larry Fitzgerald had requested Kolb, and that if we hadn't gotten him, or some one better (which there really wasn't anyone better available at the time) Larry Legend wouldn't re-sign with us. If true, and that trade is the reason Fitz retired a life long Cardinal, the trade wasn't just not bad, but a huge win for the Cardinals. That said, as historically bad as the Cardinals have been, they really haven't been involved in many bad trades. Some one noted the trade up to get Rosen, which I didn't hate at the time but does look bad in hindsight, but if I had to pick one, it'd be trading Boldin to the ravens for a 3rd round pick. It's hard to call it a bad trade because it accomplished what it was meant to, it was a salary dump as ownership didn't want to pay Boldin what he was worth and he had publically refused to take the pay cut they were requesting of him. Also, while a 3rd rounder felt a little light given his resume, anyone who wanted Boldin was also going to have to pay him top dollar which was always going to drag down his value. Still, after Boldin left, teams were constantly doubling Fitz, and we were helpless to do anything about it because we had no reliable second option. As bad as the QB situation was in the post Warner, pre Palmer, era, I can't help but wonder if the Cardinals wouldn't have put a much more watchable brand of football on display if they still had two WR1s that our carousel of practice squad QBs could jump dump the ball off to and let them make magic happen, instead of just 1 who always had the opposing teams two best corners in his area at all times.

As a Rams fan, as of this point, the Goff-Stafford train is a win-win. Even if Goff doesn't win this SuperBowl, he kept the Lions stable after Stafford left. And we got our coveted ring for AD and McVay

Given recent playoff history I think the Bills worst trade was swapping 1st round picks with the Chiefs in the 2017 draft given the Chiefs used Buffalo's pick to draft Patrick Mahomes.

Steelers trading up for Devin Bush was worse than for the punter. Much worse.

Oh yeah, Green Bay's worst was the "Lawrence Welk" trade (a 1, and a 2, and a 1 and a 2 and a 3). Haven't had many really bad trades here the last three decades though a few highly questionable free agent pickups....

The Bears once traded a 2nd-round pick for DE Gaines Adams, who lasted one undistinguished season and then tragically died. The draft pick changed hands again, winding up with the Pats- who picked Rob Gronkowski.

Imagine being the Falcons and trading away a HOF player like Favre 🤣🤣🤣. That pathetic franchise will never win a Super Bowl 😂😂😂

Rick mirer was worse than Trubisky and was already a bust when they gave Seattle a first for him. Mitch had a td pass at least.
@leethecomedian10 ай бұрын
@@NotMeNaNaNa look what those 6tds did. He also had a knack for running out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage on 3rd down self sacking himself. I like Mitch he just isn't good. Benched for Rudolph. K? You're making my point though, Mitch wasn't a bust when they traded for him ok. Why didn't they win in 84 when McMahon was out? I thought the defense could carry any qb to a super bowl. Jim is more underrated than any qb not named plunkett. I'm a Bears fan ok? I lost the rose colored glasses for them when I learned how every championship they won Halas a hand in.yes he died in 83 but the 85 core was already there. I hope they have success every time I watch em, I just don't expect it. Oh, the headband? Rozelle didn't hate headband, he hated the adidas sponsor on it.

@@leethecomedian I say this as a Chicago/Jim McMahon hater: Jim McMahon is underrated.

I'm shocked the *awful* Trent Richardson trade for the Colts isn't on here. That move right there was proof positive that Ryan Grigson had no idea what he was doing.

NY Jets: Vilma was coming off a Horrific Knee Injury. We were surprised to even get a 3rd and 4th. Everybody thought his career was over at that point.

Patrick Chung was a safety (not a cornerback) who played 11 seasons with the Pats and won 3 Super Bowls. He was never All-Pro, but he was WAY more than "serviceable". That trade was in no way a "lose-lose"

As a Texans fan I can say that the Deandre Hopkins trade was the worst trade in NFL history not only because that exchange was awful but the moves that were set in motion as a result of that trade… JJ watt demanded out , Deshaun Watson demanded out. We went from title contenders to rebuild overnight… Thank god for CJ stroud 🙏
