The thing I like about one piece is that it never changed. Dragon ball went from a retelling of journey to the west to muscle men shouting at each other until their hair color changed. Bleach started as ghost slaying as a sidejob to DBZ with swords. Naruto started as shinobi with cool stealth skills to CRAWLING IN MY SKIN! Emo crap and talk no jutsu. One piece though? A guy made of rubber wanting to be king of the pirates and punching opps in the face to a guy made of rubber proving why he should be king of the pirates and punching opps in the face with looney toon powers.

True, see I absolutely love naruto but I hate that it became about him being destined to save the world being a child of prophecy when very early on it was a big character development moment of him fighting neji and saying that he will make his own future
