The CCTV footage in the beginning is a reenactment. But the scenes of families brought back together however are all too real. You can help us do more: goo.gl/8B88rK
For nearly 155 years the International Committee of the Red Cross has worked to bring families separated by conflict or natural disaster back together again.
Under international humanitarian law, aka the laws of war, people have the right to know what happened to their missing relatives. Governments, the military authorities and armed groups have an obligation to give information and help efforts to put families back together.

@@ihateyouall7026 Both parent and child will be in distress. It's not simply "oh I'm lost!" It's the dread that you are separated from the only people you know in a sea of strangers. It's disorientating to look around and only see faces unfamiliar to you. Running around looking for them and not finding them just adds fuel to the flames of panic.

We plan for emergency events, but when said event happens, all the rush of emotion and panic makes us forget about our plans 😶. Its like those lockdown drills we had at school, its harder to remember what to do if an actual lockdown happen.

I read in one of Reddit public chats a story of one mother. She lost a child in overcrowded mall, as soon as she understood what happened she jumped on a bench there and screamed to people about what happened and how her child was looking. So people were willing to help her, they began to search and soon after that the child was found on another floor of the mall. I think she reacted very well!

I got lost when I was 5 or 6, after I followed some ants and then a little girl who said hello. My father was playing chess, in the park and I slipped undetected. I remember I wasn't scared. Then again, I was a loner already. Edit. Reading what someone else wrote, I realize I did feel like I suddenly turned shorter or the world taller, when I found myself lost.

Once i went to the night market with my grandma. I got so caught up in the moment that I lost her. Turn out i was following her friend. She just bring me home and my grandma just sitting there balling her eyes out. Yup, typical asian grandma, i never got scold by her but my mom was furious. My grandma was my comfort until 10 years ago. She left me at her 75yo. Till now, I am still struggling to find another comfort from anyone around me. Till now, i will forever missed her. Other people said she was fiercy towards her grandchildren but not to me. I was living with her from age 7, and now I'm 32, with 2 kids on my own. But i couldn't find anyone that can give me the same comfort as she does.

My mom was nearly kidnaped when she was around 5. They went to a mall and a couple of elderly just grabbed my mom and tried to go. If my grandma sister hadn't the luck of spotting them before they went out of the mall. It was early 60's, they would never see her again. The elder's justification was "She is so beautiful, we have money to raise her well".

I remember that happened to me with my son when he was 3 years old. I was in a bodega getting something small, and in a matter of seconds my son was gone. I looked around the store, not there. Ran out of the store he was no where to be found. I was so scared, I went into a zone. Crying I spotted a young lady holding his hand because he had run out of the store trying to cross this huge street to go to McDonald's....She was my son's angel, I thanked her but I never got her name because I was so overwhelmed with fear, and relief that he was safe. Wherever she is today, God bless you for saving my son. It could have been tragic.

I lost my baby brother in a store once. And it was horrifying. When I panicked I kept seeing my brother's face in my mind and images of him crying somewhere alone and scared kept replaying in my mind over and over again. I lost my dog after he got hit by a car and ran away because of fear. It was raining and those streets where full of cars but I never lost hope and ran nonestop for 7 hours until 1:30am when he got back home on his own. He was crying and shaking just like I was but thankfully he wasn't hurt at all and I never felt more relieved in my entire life. I'm so glad he's okay ❤ My house cat got out once and I was terrified she was going to get hurt or killed bc I lived near a main road at the time. I already didn't have any sleep and was walking up the road in a daze, expecting but hoping not to see her lying there after being hit. When I tried looking through the graveyard across from where I lived I was internally begging the people at rest there to help me find her. She was gone all day, probably enjoying the sun tbh, and came back that night. She looked freaked out (she's spooked by everything) but she was ok, thankfully. She's curled up next to me rn. For the amount of terror I felt then, I can't imagine what it must be like for a parent losing a child, even temporarily.

honestly this commercial was an interesting case study on human emotions. the reenacted footage did nothing for me, but even the smiles at the end made me instantly tear up. our brains are so hardwired for empathy. we instinctively recognize real emotion.

One time I went with my brother out at night for a festival, I'm the oldest . Sometimes we discuss bout stupid stuff but that time when he got angry he took the opposite direction as mine, but it scares me the path that he took it was very dark an creepy. I thought that hell regret in some second and come back but he didn't appear in fact I searched for him and didn't find him. I literally collapsed and runned maybe around all that place, then I was crying and i thought what the heck am I going to say to my parents? That it was my fault and I was stupid? But guess who opened the door. He found me crying and was like wtf?! I remember I cried and hit him very hard. Worst experience in my whole life. I can't imagine how parents would react when something like this happens to their children. 💔

I remember back when I was like 5-6 years old, my mom always told me to play in front of the house but one day my friends and I went to play in a park which was kinda far from home without telling my mom. When I got back home after only 15 minutes. I saw a crowd gathered in front of my house. My mom was sitting on road crying. I got scared that now she will scold me but when she saw me she ran and hugged me. Later she told me that losing your child is the worst feeling ever. I hope no parent ever go through that🙏

EDIT: just to clarify since some of you seem to be confused. money isn't the only issue, and i never said it was. loving something so much and having it disappear despite putting in so much effort into loving it must be a living hell to experience. yes, while it is equally bad for the parent and child, sometimes the child doesn't understand exactly how deep the situation is. so please don't take the first part of my comment out of context. nah. everyone usually only talks about the child. Imagine investing thousands, even MILLIONS of dollars into your kid, loving them with every ounce of your being, giving up on hopes and dreams, but having them disappear? holy shit. Some parents literally go INSANE trying to look for their kids, but half the time the child doesn't even realize the gravity of the situation.

As a child, I had this bad habit of letting go of my mother's hand and running ahead of her everytime we went to the mall. She would aways be worried sick trying to catch me before I went somewhere out of sight. Then one day, I let go of her hand and ran, but didn't hear her coming after me. I stopped to look back, but didn't see her anywhere. My heart dropped, I panicked and started crying my eyes out. Turns out my mother was hiding behind a pillar not too far away from where I was having my breakdown. She walked to me and said in the most chill tone, "Now you know how I feel". Never again.

@@kattier195 it only takes a split second for a child to disappear. You could keep an eye on them as much as you want, the second you'll look away just to (for example) look at an item, ask someone something, and they'd be gone. I know because I already made my parents go through this as a child. 🤦🏻‍♀️ and now that I am older and have to take care of my younger siblings, I know it even better (I never lost them but damn it's hard to always have my eyes on them).

Yes, my mom would ALWAYS dress us the same as her so she could never forget what we were wearing. But when I was like 10 or 11, i think we were in Walmart, we were getting cat food and my mom said that I should get cat food as she got dog food(an aisle over). I grabbed the cat food and went over to meet my mom but she wasn’t there. So I stayed in the end aisle and looked down all the other ones. I didn’t see her anywhere so I stayed at the cat food. I was so scared because I had never been in that situation and even though I was in Walmart as a 10 year old I was scared. When my mom came back she didn’t even realize that she had scared me. Turns out she decided to grab something from a couple rows over but she never knew I lost her. So yes it is worse for the parent but also the kid depending on the situation. My mom didn’t even think twice about me being lost. If it was in a airport or fair, I agree with you. Sorry for the long comment. I just am so grateful that parents are so careful with their kids. Bc some aren’t and it’s so sad 😞 Edit: my mom was gone for a good 9-10 minutes
