I love this way of doing it, but for non professional work the AI masking features on lightroom provide the digital solution for this.

Sorry I’m im new uh but why have a gem when you can change the color afterwards anyway? Well the gel looks better tho so it that the reason?

It’s super fun to show your clients the results in camera, you don’t have to worry about the time or artifacts of an imperfect mask in post processing and lastly, and most important, you feel like a wizard doing it. Am I right?

It's about the difference of temp+tint between background and the subject. When using orange gel, background can be pushed to look cool without loosing the good skin tone on the subjects. Adjustment without these filters would not look natural.

@@christopherh4653 I just don't think that looking fake is bad. It's just about feeling. Does the photo make you feel anything? You also don't have to edit to the extremes. aaaalso...rarely will you get the perfect light when you show up to a scene. Direct sunlight often looks horrid so you use the sun as a backlight and pop a flash to add fill. Or on a super cloudy day like this, there'd be hardly any light on the couples faces and the shadows would be bad....so flash helps correct and reveal what our eyes naturally see but what the camera cannot quite pick up and translate. anywayyyyysss

@@hannaharstudios Life isn't perfect. I'll take real and imperfect over this overdone Instagram bs all day, every day. It makes me 'feel' absolutely nothing.
