If only we knew how the prices of these games would change starting from 2020... It is ridiculous how many of these games got so expensive, and while I can understand the hype and nostalgia coming back during the lockdown when people had more time to look upon and play these games, they prices are still continuing to rice, which is quite annoying.

I have a little foresight in the mid 90s about RPG that it would increase in prices. The only thing that hold me back is $$$. By early 2010, I begin to collect horror games. Kuon which i bought was just $30 at Amazon. Echo night and other horror games were very cheap back then. This time, i have $$$ to purchase. And so I try to purchase RPG that were less than $100 as well. Almost all of Pete's mentioned, I do have.

Here's a fun question how expensive do you think they're going to be in 5 years-10years-20years they're not going to stay at this price in 10 years people will be saying the same things they're saying now
@LightFykki Жыл бұрын
@@williamcarswell3012 A fun and interesting question indeed. One problem with physical media is their longevity. They cannot work forever, especially disks. In fact, many media have already started breaking down. In the coming decades that process will exponentially accelerate, considering that most of those hardware have been produced around a similar time. That, coupled with the fact that the materials in general get worn down, especially if they are being sold so often and change hands, and you get less available products to be, especially in good and crisp CIB package. Even if the demand lessens, as long as it follows this trend of product availability, the prices will not drop as well. But these things are difficult to predict, we need to wait and see.

I don't think I can bring myself to pay more than $100 for a PS2 game even if I really wanted to play it. I still remember I managed to get Xenosaga 1 and 2 for about $16 and the only reason that's memorable for me is cause Xenosaga 2 was ten cents cheaper than Xenosaga 1. Xenoaga 3 did cost me about $57 but I won it from an ebay bid, totally worth it seeing the prices it go for now lol. I got all Shadow Hearts games for less than $30 too so thank goodness I got them when I did.

I remember like 10 years ago at a convention asking why Silent hill a ps1 game cost $60 and passing up buying it(not that I had a ton of money back then) I thought it was ridiculous to pay more for an old used game than a brand new modern one. Now I’m kicking myself for not getting it. The problem is at this point people who want ps2 games and games of that era are now adults with actual jobs and so now that people have money the price goes up as nostalgia demand increases. Not only that but because of the internet anyone can look up the price of something and so you are unlikely to find good deals on games anymore. I was shocked to see so many games, even games with greatest hits versions costing so much all of a sudden.

Ooh, I actually have one of the pricier ones it seems. Well the bottom-ish of the expensive ones anyways. I wonder what happened for Blood Will Tell to spike so much compared to a lot of other similarly unknown games? I got that just off Amazon 10-15ish years ago for like $20 bucks. Canadian bucks too. Those are worth less than some. I think it was a sealed copy too but I honestly can't remember for sure. Decent game. I'd never heard of it until randomly someone online was talking about how a PS2 game based on Osamu Tezuka's Dororo got put out under some random name and no one seemed to notice or care. Being a huge dork for Tezuka I immediately hoped online and, sure enough, super easily got a copy for cheap. Real shame that people have to always get so weird about stuff like this. It was nice to be able to just, you know, but an old videogame for a reasonable price. It's not like Blood Will Tell is some remarkable treasure. A hidden gem sure, a historical curiosity for folk like me that know the lineage of the IP, but it's certainly not worth 500 bucks. Not simply due to scarcity anyways.

I think I paid $90 for dbz bt3 on ps2 a few years ago. Never letting this game go again lol. But I have 2 copies of it, one for ps2 and the other for wii. For me, I’d rather play on ps2 only because on the wii version, for some reason, you can’t regular ascend/descend, only charge ascend/descend. If you’re a pro at bt3 you can utilize the regular ascend/descend to open your opponent up for combos. Can’t be done in the charged one. Sure, I can make do without that functionality, but I’ve learned to incorporate that into combat so I’d just rather play on ps2 strictly for that reason

So if you grade a game you send it in to a company to get it officially valued on its condition. Usually they score on a 1-10 scale. It's really common in trading cards but people started doing it with games as well. A game with a high grade will sell at a higher price than an ungraded game
