1. Nero didn't burn Rome because he wasn't there at the time, he was in Antium. Also, he never burned anything down. 2. Fires were very common in Rome because buildings were made of wood and they were tightly packed. 3. The harp/fiddle/guitar wasn't invented at the time and Nero actually helped the people during the Great Fire. To a Roman, Christians were silly billies, so they barely questioned Nero and went ahead with persecuting them. Historians like Suetonius said that the persecution was a good thing, whilst Tacitus had no comment on it.

Nero's story is still unsure. A thing romans did was to eliminate records of an awful emperor (this started from Caligula's end). So it's possibile that the stories told by roman historians are possibly greatly exaggerated. As for the christian genocide, It happened even before Nero and it was mainly done by other emperors out of fear that aristocrats might lose power when poorer people would start believing in this religion all about how "we are all god's child" and claims of equality. The main reason people would associate Nero with the christian genocide was due to how awful he was.

I'm certain that Augustus would have never heard about it because the crucifixion happened under the next emperor, Tiberius, but even then Christianity was probably not large enough to be severe to him anyways. I think Caligula and Claudius saw the Christians and jews as the same people but I couldn't find anything on them killing lots of them as much as Nero. But, the later emperors like Diocletian and Decius would carry on this persecution. 'damnatio memoriae' (the removal of records) began under Tiberius, when Sejanus was executed for treason and he was obliterated from everything afterwards. The first emperor to have this was Caligula, like you just said. I agree with everything else said.

His bad governance,even as a dictator lead to a part if the country almost being independent,and under his rule our money became about as powerful as a whopping 0.02 USD,after eh triggered an economic collapse. The most crazy part is his son is the current Filipino President. I think I’ll move to the States.
