Another couple things that make gyro so busted: If you leave it on stage and stand by it, the spinning hitbox poses a threat to safely spaced aerials on your shield. You can cover their drift away and combo out of it should they challenge be daring enough to fall onto it. This same application can serve as a bait for them to go and pick gyro up themselves, which also presents a punish opportunity. It can also be used as a dissuasive tool in the case that you don’t even use it to hit them in a very similar manner as I listed above. You shoot a gyro and leave it on the floor, the floor is no longer safe. You can anti-air them for moving around and respecting gyro’s noncommittal and lingering hitbox. Lastly, it buffs his out-of-shield like crazy! Zdrop out of shield is active on frame 4, which is nutty in and of itself because it is a combo starter with zero-to-death capabilities (see my clip in this video during gyro section) but the application of down toss, AND ftoss out of shield are also pretty great considering both of them outspeed up smash and fair. Not only can they not hit your shield safely while you have gyro in-hand, but if they fade back too far and or land with a committal option, they get punished even from out of their own range fairly consistently. I’m happy to have aided in the script and love the content you make Glyph! The production value is killer and I am so happy to see the character getting the love it deserves in a more comprehensive style. Keep it up!

While gyro is busted I wouldn’t say it’s the best projectile but definitely top 3. A contender for best projectile is pikachu’s t jolt and the definitely best projectile, hero’s kaboom. If hero could get kaboom when he wanted he would be top tier for free.

Those are certainly both amazing, but both pale in comparison to gyro's sheer flexibility. T Jolt is an incredible pressure and approach tool, but a lot of that strength comes from being part of Pika's kit. You stitch that onto any non-rushdown character and it loses a ton of its luster. Kaboom also is insane, but you -don't- get it every time! That's where the balance comes in, if it were something you could reliably use I'd for sure agree, but odds of it popping up when you need it is pretty slim. Gyro is 100% reliable! :]

Up there, but not quite in the running for strongest. It's very easy to just block and pick up yourself, and being locked to the arc it has makes it easier to navigate. There's always z drops and hydrant interactions to make it a bit more dynamic, but that's a lot of hoops to jump through for something that still only really confirms into a kill if they haven't left the ground when it hits them

A cool trick for R.O.B.'s gyro I found was that if you have a gyro on the floor and you side special them while they're getting hit at the same time it does massive amounts of damage. It's really tricky to pull off, but when done it can do insane amounts of damage. Same applies if you get them in a grab and they're next to the gyro but it doesn't do as much damage.

One of my favorite things about R.O.B. is how brilliant his kit is, especially Robo Burner. That recovery alone allows him to create a philosophy: "If there's a spike, R.O.B. has survived it before." Heck, I'm a believer that R.O.B. is easy enough for anyone to pick up, but has a whole lotta techs that make him hard to master. Also glad to see the callbacks to how wack the Operating Buddy was back in Brawl, and how those flaws later became his greatest strengths.

Rob is a zoner, swordie, ressource , item, trappler, gappler, combo, recovery and 0-death character. Even hit and run or rush down works. I think ROB is the highest one in the tier list. Steve is a ressource character and makes him very predictable. My personal opinion. ROB as mix-up character allows him to almost compete every one on our raster, just falco is a bit complicated to play.

Arm rotor sets up to a 3 hit kill combo on characters that NEED there jump to recover and only have vertical recoveries. Like cloud and Ike. If you get them offstage by a throw, nair, or off the final hit of an arm rotor and the player panic jumps, immediately jump and arm rotor again. This will make them lose there jump and send off stage. Then reverse up b to set up for a back air off stage to insta kill any character near the blast zone. This works against any character that jumps immediately out of disadvantage. But the characters with better recoveries might wiggle around this combo

Hmm. Best projectile. Link's remote bomb would like a word with you. Pretty much can do everything you attribute to Gyro, can be repositioned without picking it up, more potent kill power by itself, less of a threat to Link when opponents pick it up, and can be used for recovery. (granted ROB doesn't need it as much.) Also Link nair can probably give ROB's a run for it's money.

just had a thought and thought youd like to know that characters like marthcina can actually angle their recoveries ! in their case i think thats the only way they can safely land on yoshi's top plat out of shield. although, getting that angle without b reversing and then pressing back is incredibly difficult if you dont have hitlag frames to work with (same reason why dolphin slash is one of the hardest moves to tech in the game) i think actually you can angle or influence your drift on most up specials ?? and i think is really cool and wish there was more unnecesary tech like things embedded within moves and mechanics !!

Yes, at low percents upthrow sets up for ftilt and fair. But bthrow comboes as well and both fthrow and bthrow get you in a better position which almost always leads to more damage in the long run. Not to mention you can get punished for fair when it doesn't tumble yet.

Really well made video. Only really disagree with the nair being S-tier by your definition of what makes a move S-tier. I believe you'll find that Ike and Shulk nair do the same thing except better. Shulk nair being an even larger version, and Ike's being even better for combos and killing. It is an amazing move just not the best in class. Keep up the good work!

Really accurate but imma have to say that up air should be higher. What you said about drag down combos isn’t necessarily true. It does true combo into up tilt and grab when drug down on the ground. Also the up air f smash confirm is really safe and not committal. Last it also combos from up throw at like 20 and if there are platforms it can lead to 2 or even 3 if you read their DI

It's tough! You gotta find a way to use the fact that they're blocking to reposition somewhere safer, then punish their approach after. It's a very tricky thing to balance since they have such incredible frame data, but plan to go hard on the defense and you can win!!!
