Call me old school, but sitting down to start a fight is not the way to go. I started jits in 96 and I specifically remember Relson Gracie ask, do you pull guard on the street? Do you butt scoot on the street? We don’t do that here. I wrestled in elementary, jr high so I did have take downs already in my library of moves to use. I’m just not a fan of this new school jits of sitting and butt scooting. I realize the difference between self defense and sport Jits. Just not a fan of scratching your ass across the mats.
@zanderrose11 ай бұрын
It's extremely annoying and I think the explosion of the leglock game has made it worse since most real takedowns don't give you an obvious opening for leg attacks the way that playing guard does. There needs to be more rulesets that penalize pulling guard if they ever want bjj to be a draw for spectators who aren't competitors themselves.
@anonymous-t4g9r11 ай бұрын
Skidless underwear needs to sponsor the event
@morpheus312811 ай бұрын
Not to mention fighting from the bottom while inverted. Suicide in a fight. (Helio Gracie is no doubt turning over in his grave). This is similar to the old Pride days when Sakuraba was subbing everyone until they changed the rules to allow kicks to the head while the opponent was down. Then everyone started field-goaling his face.
@TheMBROO11 ай бұрын
So to counter a sit down guy, why not just sit down with him? Take his advantage away. Thoughts? I'm ignorant to this sport altogether, but I find it interesting and I respect it.
@zanderrose11 ай бұрын
@@TheMBROO Some people definitely do that. If you're more confident playing guard than trying to pass your opponent's guard, that could be the way to go. Depends on your skillset. A lot of the time though both people sitting down will result in either a scramble or both people going for leglocks.
