It is indeed one of the more silent guns from history.
@a647388 ай бұрын
Yes... It is actually a myth now that silencers do not work created by the many even professionals testing weapons with silencers and not knowing you HAVE to use subsonic ammunition for the silencer to actually be silent. With ammo going supersonic it will be dampened but STILL VERY LOUD !!! But with subsonic ammo it is near actual silent, and the bullet hitting the target is larger then the bang when it goes of.
@TherealTenmanI7 ай бұрын
There was a demonstration where germans did a mag dump behind a higher up to show what they captured. He was oblivious and didnt believe that it happened until he touched the hot brass. On one hand its a quiet gun, on the other he was probably also mostly deaf. There was also that one ambush that had British hiding in trees and a small group took out dozens of enemies since they couldn't tell it was from above them. I wish I could remember names and titles, I know the german report was from a diary or journal. Sorry for vague info, hopefully someone else knows specifics because they are cool little reports.

To be fair; the Suppressed Sten MK II was an insanely quiet weapon for it's day; Ian McCollum on Forgotten Weapons Reported in one of his videos that the weapons bolt cycling was louder than the gunshots and you could actually hear the rounds impacting the metal targets (good luck doing that with a normal weapon). However they're incredibly finniky; it has to use a custom lightweight bolt, the recoil springs have to be custom cut by an armorer in the field to suit local conditions and heaven help you if you try to fire it on full auto as it will damage the baffles in the suppressor "can" essentially ruining the gun.

I did just get my 1st suppressor but don't know if I'd have the guts to thread the barrel though. Bought it in 2011 when I was 19 and it was brand new/in the arsenal mummy wrap still for $1000. Played too much engineer class BF1942 as a kid. Finally unwrapped it a few years ago once I convinced myself I would never sell it. Was like having a present under the Christmas tree you could never touch but I finally gave in. Now I'm looking for another mummy wrapped one but they have doubled in price, still quite a few of them out there though.
