@@Goldiibug Today I heard from our local Petco employee about how common plecos will only get as big as to accommodate them in whatever size tank they are put into. We don't even have a local fish store.

You looking from the outside in with that comment. It's like a body builder who wears clothes so you can see the muscles. Some do it to show off. But others wear the clothes because they are proud of the hard work and sacrifices and discapline that went into achieving those muscles. Cory being the latter. He's proud of the success he achieved. Wouldn't you be if you were in his shoes... so nothing is what it seems. So don't be to quick to judge without knowing the why.

I love the care you put into all your fish!! I have found a localish aquatics shop in the U.K. that have been running for 60 years. They seem very similar to the aquarium coop methods. Their prices are a bit higher then the big chain shops but I’m happy to pay it as my fish have all been healthy coming from there. You are absolutely right that we would pay that extra knowing the fish will be healthy. Great video Cory !!!

i know i’m a year late, but everything cory’s said about running a fish store reminds me of the small mom & pop bird store i work at. i’ve had a habit of taking in the odd ones, and i’m also overrun ! as well, selling birds too cheap makes people think of them as cheap toys or presents, and they can be treated so poorly. absolutely love watching this channel. if i didn’t have 40 birds, i’d have loved to get back into tanks like i used to do with my dad when i was little.

I only have 2 bettas and around 15 small tropical fish they can only finish 1/3 cube. I hoard so much variety of foods that I have to put them all in the freezer... (including 5 types/sizes of meaty betta/tropical pellets, flake foods, 3 types of wafers for my corys, frozen brine shrimp and blood worms) Also Cory if there’s a slight chance you see this comment can you do a poll on how many types of fish food we store 😂

Love that you are increasing the size of the Betta tanks but that they have excellent care in general. They are such a forgotten fish in terms of good care and housing for so many otherwise "decent" or higher quality fish stores. It is very disappointing that they are treated that way so many times. Keep improving and finding a better way, like ya always do. Coming from a Betta and Aquarium Co-Op fan.

I finally made it into the store yesterday and it's probably a good thing I live 30 minutes away - LOL! What a great store (yep, it's hot in there!) and helpful folks working there! I had some ideas for small schooling fish to complete my 9 gal planted tank, and I got great advice and came home with 6 Emerald Eye Rasbora. I love them! There's a 30 gal in my future, and I can't wait to come back and stock that one! I didn't get his name (my order was 542150) but the guy who helped me was just AWESOME! Thank you!!

Corey, I just started getting in the hobby. I watch alot of your videos and get great ideas. I see alot of your green foam filters with the air stone. I was wondering how well they work. Hi we keep our male crowntail Betta in a community tank with Glowlight danio, endlers, whipttail catfish and red cherry shrimp. Here in the Uk the hilstream loachs i bought were £4 each.

15:48 I was sold a rosy tetra with a mouth deformity (it is only functional on one side and the other is lower on his face) I thought he were only going to live a couple of days because he struggled to eat and wasn’t eating much but he’s still living and grown at least double his size. I work with much larger animals, but I think this applies. Culling is super important. You can have a store full of awesome animals and one with something wrong and the only thing that people that come remember is the one that was bad. Its not fun but its part of raising livestock. Gotta cull.

Only issue I have had is, I got a s. Repens and it had no leaves and was almost dead when I got it. Ended up having to replace it with one from petco. The new one is flourishing. My job a friend I got from aqua co-op is still awesome. So is their easy green fertilizer

Rosy barbs are fantastic and do very well outside, I have them with goldfish in big ponds. The males colour up very much darker red than this with sunlight, the females stay that gorgeous gold. Another plus about keeping them outdoors they make excellent top view fish. The extreme metallic shine they have is concentrated along the dorsal area and head. Stunning. The neons unfortunately dont have this, the top is generally yellow in males and the bottom half is little bit orange. There are some very good metallic strains of very concentrated red Rosies in India selected for red and metallic and the so called "Red chilly" Rosy barb which I've only ever seen in Australia is the most intense red of them all females included. This latter variety may be genetically modified not entirely sure but the colour and metalic shine is utterly incredible. If they are glow-fish Rosies they dont look modified or artificial just very beautiful particularly in ponds outdoors against the dark bottom of pond weed.

I live in PA but would love to come to your store someday. i got a great local store that is similar but still nothing compares. Would love to see more, Synodontis catfish some of the best fun ive had with Synodontis Petricola stays really small less than 4" works in lots of smaller tanks and now ive got a Synodontis Eupterus. Synodontis is the best kind of catfish imo. Fits in so many tanks cichlids are natural for them but they also fit in the community tank. {Which I've always owned}.

I like that Cory calls out that quality costs. The time to look after the numerous beta tanks the cost of food and meds. Water and electricity bills have increased in my home due to my own MTS. The surcharge on shipping from wholesalers.. good to have education on this whether we can afford a school of fish or not.

Nice to see my favorite White Cloud species, the Vietnamese White Cloud minnow. I have some that are over a year old. They top out at about 1.25". The mature males get a really long dorsal fin. Finally, at least in my experience, they seem to school a little tighter than the regular Chinese White Cloud.

The only thing that could have made this video better, would be if it had a little better camera work, which would have required you getting lucky with the fish showing themselves in a still frame, to make sharing screenshot pics of the video easier. I have always wondered if there is a reason you haven't added a few more types of java fern to your plant offerings? Like trident or needle. I'm assuming that you have looked into it and I'm guessing it falls to a supply instability issue, but was just curious.

I'm doing good at my sorority of Bettas. Their in 37 gal. Real and fake plants plus logs. Have Otto's too. Most of the females were raised as baby's together. So they get along fine.
