Didn’t know how interesting Red Imperial Guards were until later on. Praetorian Guards were the only type of Guards I’ve seen in live action where they fight. It would be nice to see live action Imperial Guards be Badasses.

Shadow Guards is my favorite type of royal guards although I did really like the design of the Elite Praetorian Guards especially the faceless helmets they also had pretty cool weapons

I really like the design of the Republic Senate commandos. I like how their armor is meant to be ceremonial yet still fully functional in a fight. The striking blue colour, the crested helmet and the use of white paint on it to denote higher ranking commandos is just great.

There is a whole comic also about it that show thé prosses of becoming a red guard out of 30 very very veryyyy elite soldiers only 1 was left standing thé last 2 had to battle to thé dead it makes absolutly zero Sense to trow away 29 of you're most elite soldiers and only keep 1🤣

There are plenty of ways I can think of to end up with the top Warrior from a class of Warriors without eliminating so many by Death. Weeding them out without lethality would mean so many more of the best get through. Part of what get's someone to the top can be a slight amount of luck and circumstances above the next leading person if they are both highly skilled. Where if they retried it might be the other person that wins. Circumstances may include things like their prime. And I'm not talking about the prime age. Even Within days for various reason some people are just better off than they are on other days. When it comes to real life fighting it's more like rock-paper-scissors with the levels of power than just levels of power. In other words, when it comes to 3 nearly equally skilled Fighters, one fighter may be able to beat another, but the one they are able to beat may be able to beat someone else, and that person would be able to beat the first one. Also one group's second place may be more skilled than another groups first place. By having two from one group fight to the death you may lose one that is still top notch. You can always have a freak class of competitors where the second place that is killed is way better than five or more other first places. For these reasons getting rid of a second place by having two of them fight to the death is foolish. And by extension anyone else they eliminate by death up until then in a class is also foolish. You can have one that just needs a little more training and practice on one particular saying that gets them killed but as for everything else about them especially their fighting skills they may way ahead of everyone else. Unstrategically brutal not always equal popping out the toughest Warriors. And this is not coming from just a nerd. This is coming from someone who taught martial arts. Specifically one focusing on practicality and intensity. I would say the writer was foolish. But more likely the writer of this idea was just being Star Wars realistic to how a Sith would put it together. It is a sith idea for Only the strongest to survive without thinking of how much stronger a group would be if more strong survived. Same mentality where is this can kill their master in their sleep and then take up the title of being the most powerful. It's a silly to kill off your best warriors just because they're not able to defeat your other best warriors one time. When a simple tap-out or nearly killed but bacta tank soaked back to health should do just fine for determining "top of the class."

The Senate Guard sucked way more than this guy would have you believe. They had hardly any training and were so corrupt with HICOM offering free spots for family members. They had less than a month of total training. Watch them fight, and you'll see how much they sucked.

E: Can you go over the Old Republic/ Sith Empire Guards as well perchance? The later galactic republic and galactic empire essentially created Neo-Crusader Mandalorians without the Mandalorian (still got the Mando drip). How is this not irony. E: the last two entrees lack any design flare. They are just spiritual carbon copies of the oh imperial guards and that is putting it softly. They are rip-off’s. At least the OG imp guards had deep lore and cosemetic deference to stormtroopers. The darn sovereigns for Disney palpatine is a copy paste of the FO Stormtrooper in red. Lame.

In my opinion the imperial royal guard lore is heavily flawed. Why would anyone want to go through the training (with an almost certain death), just to be a nameless slave to the emperor, (again, with an almost certain death)? What are the perks? Being the best of the best is fun, but not if no one knows who you are and your colleagues do the exact same thing, under the exact same conditions, in the exact same uniform. And most of the time you just stand there silently. Kind of boring, actually. Is it for the money?

In a way. They are more valuable than Disney inquisitors, and better overall. But they arent as powerful and independent as actual Inquisitors of Old Canon, as example, High Inquisitor Jerec who was second only to Vader, and after he absorbed energy of Valley of the Jedi he surpassed long dead Vader; or Grand Inquisitor Antiniss Tremayne, student of Vader, who got lucky killing the guy who beated Vader and was his rival back when both were padawans (Ferrus Olin, apprentice of Siri Tachi who was also Kenobi's lover)
