A fun fact for each Assassin's Temple: - Vindicare To show how these snipers are so dedicated and effective, hear this tale: to assassinate an Eldar target, one Vindicare stood still on a planet for weeks, rifle aimed at the sky, in order to nail the precise moment after the Eldar ship emerged from the Webway. And he did. - Callidus One time a quite humorus thing happened: an assassin was sent to take out a target, and when this assassins met the target... the Callidus drop the disguise and went something like "Bro, you are ruining this for me!" - Eversor These people have a cocktail of chemicals in them to make them so fast, strong and deadly, all constantly verging on the point of ending the Eversor; if that does occur, the nuke in the assassin goes off. - Culexus To eliminate a Tau, one member each of the previous temple was dispached, and failed. When they send a Culexus he just walked in, eliminate the target and left: every other tau present essentially ignored him, in hope that he would leave quicker!

Okay, second founding; After the Horus heresy, robot girly man wrote a book called the Codex astartes. In that, he declared that all legions should be broken up into chapters containing no more than 1,000 Space Marines. So if you think about this the ultramarine's Legion had let's say 12,000 Space Marines. Now they have 12 chapters. A relevant captain or person of singular leadership and ability would be given the command of a chapter. A person of singular ability could also approach their Primark or their chapter Master and declare themselves the master of succession chapter. There's a lot of different ways that this comes about and there's a lot of information on it, so even if I have a little bit of this off generally this is how it can be done. As for your red scorpions, they are the successor chapter to the iron hands. That would be Ferris Mannis as your Primarch. I have the successor chapter of the iron hands the Petrifiers. The ultramarines because they have such a very large and very stable Empire are able to handle all of their successor chapters. And there's so much lore written about them because they are so capable. As more books come out as more Laura is written, successor chapters are finding more and more more with the most prominent of this being the black Templars. Black Templars of course are a successor chapter of the Imperial fists with Rogel Dorn as there Primarch. Some successor chapters that I really appreciate for lore and stories and things written about are lost successor chapters. Let's say you were a salamander on some random world and all of your fleet was destroyed in a war. You had no way of making it back to your Imperium and over 500 years you developed your own chapter. When it comes time to rekindle with your primary chapter, you could petition to become a successor chapter. There's a whole bunch of convoluted lore about how to become us a successor chapter and it involves councils and votes and people being petitioned and it's basically a trial. Yada yada yada. But for the most part, a successor chapter has a thousand Space Marines and a whole bunch of support staff. Cheers -Alpharious-

My own grief with the Custodes thing is the fact that the Sisters of Silence already were the female Custodians and they were already badass. Changing that old lore just like that without a good reason is why I don't like it personally but I try to remain non-confrontational about it even if it does feel forced. No shade on you Kip, not your fault really.

Well... They're not like female custodes though - they're not superhuman and have a completely different skill set and job description (anti psyker specialists). I mean like or don't like female custodes,, whatever - and Sisters of Silence sure need a shine up - but they're a completely different thing. They're also such a specialist unit they're never going to have the same sort of attention - their main job is to crew the black ships and deal with problematic psykers. They just got yeeted into custodes in the first codex to pad it out. They make more sense in Kill Team as buddies for Inquisitorial Agents. Should probably be put in that codex in 40k too.

Legions 2 and 11 had something so terrible happen to them that Primarchs asked to have their minds wiped of the memories. _That_ bad. It would be trivial to come up with a related retort regarding a retcon, and arguably appropriate since they were also originally left out to leave in room for homebrew player Primarchs and legions. There are passages pointing in the general direction of the Rangdan Xenocides, but nothing too concrete that I know of. Might be missing something, though.

The second and eleventh legions being revealed would be taken so much worse than the female Custodes thing. Ultimately female custodes don't really change anything, the two legions would throw off the lore so hard, all the other primarchs have relationships that define each other and took part in the Heresy that destroyed the Emperor's dream. Adding two extra shmucks would devalue what it means to be a primarch
@Halvos1213 күн бұрын

To put into perspective how large a Battle Group of the Imperial Guard is, just the infantry numbers alone (~500k+): Take the entire US Army, with all of its support personnel, officers, pilots, etc., and convert them all into simple frontline infantrymen, and you would still be short of a Battle Group's infantry count by ~30k bodies. Then take into account that the average modern military has a Tooth-to-Tail ratio of about 1:3, and add that in, and your infantry contingent alone is now on the order of 2 million souls. Apply that ratio to the quoted ~30k armored units (average crew of 6), and you add on another ~720k souls. So we're already at nearly 3 million. That's 1.7 times the entire combined active duty military count of all US branches, in a single Battle Group. And the Imperium has an *unknown number* of IG Battle Groups, i.e. a *lot* of them. And this does not include the Planetary Defense Forces or the Imperial Navy elements that would also be present.

28:36 So to help with the whole “chapter” idea for you. Each of the original 20 space marine legions before the heresy were made up of sometimes 10-100 of thousands of marines. However, after the heresy most had been reduced 10 fold and more. Gulliman not wishing any of the remaining loyalist legions to have such strength as to potentially restart the heresy made it law in his book that they be split down into multiple 1000 man chapters. As such after the HH was to be known as the 2nd founding where those surviving brothers of each legion splintered off to form unique independent chapters linked by geneseed and blood alone to their former but in many ways unique. Great examples comes from my own beloved legion the Imperial Fists who split down into 5 chapters The Imperial Fists - one always bore the original legions name and heraldry The Black Templars - the more fanatical and religious of the Imperial Fists. They would go with Sigusmund in his eternal crusade. - to note if you get a chance just look up Siggy, dude was the badass of badasses. The Crimson Fist - the newest of the imperial fist ranks would go with Alexis Polux to form them. - also Polux is absolute big brother energy. Excoriators - made from the battle brothers who held the walls of Terra until the very end. Fists Exemplar - made up of the more progressive fists who believed in Gullimans ideas and words. However, this would be the last sounding as you would go onto have 20 more with each new founding usually being veteran or special battle brothers from either the parent or a successor chapter who’s done deeds so highly magnificent that they have been deemed worthy of founding there own chapter to carry their speciality and legacy - tho some can be done just out of necessity too but more rare. As such each founding sees more chapters added to the list. Again great example is the Executioners who hail from the Fists and who’s fist chapter master would be Fafnir Rann the leader of the Imperial Fist legions most prestigious assault cadre. However, while alot of chapters can claim heraldry and life back to one of the original 9 loyalist legions, some chapters such as the Blood Ravens, Carcharodons and Red Scorpions, etc; have “Unknown” progenitors. There is never a definitive reason for it outside of most just being told/claiming that there records are lost or sealed away so no battle brothers for millennia has ever known the secret… there are speculations as to why and as you look into these chapters… some may seem to bear more resemblances to those of another 9 legions than the loyalist ones. Tho no one would ever suggest traitors remained in the ranks of there chapter… maybe. So for your Red Scorpions Kip, they fall under the Unknown tag for originators. They are speculated to be Gullimans… tho reality, tact and action speak more towards another Legion (III?)

It’s a group led by a former grey knight who was going to be executed for sparing civilians that had survived a demon incursion. The weapon that was used to execute him malfunctioned and it was seen as the emperor intervening. So he gets a ship and picks up various like minded people from different factions. There’s an imperial knight as their ace in the hole, various space marines who were shunned by their chapters for being merciful to citizens. What they do different is they have like, evangelists who they send to a planet to train people to help the local populace stave off the after effects of a demonic incursion. The big twist of their entire schtick is… it always fails and backfires. Their mercy makes things worse and showcases why the imperium has to be so harsh and heavy handed in how they deal with things.

The reason restarting something will fix it is due to two things: Bad code. And Quantum mechanics. Bad code will be removed form the memory if you restart it, so clogged up systems etc will be cleared. Quantum mechanics because electrons can jump from one part of the circuit board to another and disrupt regular flow, does this happen often? No, but 0.00000000000000001% is noticeable if there are 60 billion electrons moving through. Also: The Mechanicus does not just pray and wave incense, they have oil rituals and cleaning rituals, and restarting rituals, and sacrifice rituals etc. They have forgotten why they removing a filter, why they change the oil, they have probably lost the knowledge of the difference between various oils, but as soon as a ritual works, it is now the standard ritual for that thing.

Bricky is the guy you go to get introduced, he is not the arbiter of knowledge and he himself states this all the time. Bricky himself asks people to go to people like Lutetin after finding a topic that they like from his videos, and his podcast Adeptus Riddiculous is a foot in the door podcast, they are not the everything podcast and never claimed to be. I like Adeptus Riddiciolous more than Luetin at times simply because it does not feel like going to work when learning about stuff, but I sure do watch some Luetin stuff when I want to dive deeply into it. And Bricky himself has said that it was unfortunate that he actually did missprepsent some stuff for some factions without intending to. Like boiling down Angron to "Willing intentional Angry Man", which he was not, it was not willing. (There is also a chance that you are mixing up the Custodes and Sisters of Silence thing with Sisters of Battle, no relation.)

Anyone who does not believe in it and removes the offerings has a high chance of being fired if there is a problem with the mechanical operation.

Grey knights are super easy to go quick or slow. Just slap metal base, blue shade followed by necron combound dry brush. Then the rest details, done.

I feel like the 2nd and 11th shouldn't be brought back unless they go full 40k end times. Like they are nuking the setting. Emps ascends to the true chaos god of humanity, Eldar assemble the Crone swords, return of ALL the primarchs in some form, Necrons unleash ancient super weapons, Tyranids are EVERYWHERE, Chaos gods start manifesting in real space, Orcs become Krorks, etc. I think it should take a narrative event of that level to actually bring 2 and 11 back. Basically tie up a bunch of loose ends before you end the setting and move onto a new setting. I doubt it will happen, but that is my opinion.

iirc the 2nd and 11th legion got absorbed into the other legions (most went to the ultra marines hence their numbers at the time) also its a reason to explain why there are so many different homebrew chapters that aren't from any of the existing geneseed stocks from existing chapters

So, Idea: Can we have an Ork entry (call them Dervishes or something 🤷🏻♂️) where it basically functions like a single-use Beyblade. You pull the cord and let it rip, and any model physically touched by the spinning Beyblade takes an automatic hit and has to save as per usual for the model? 🤔 I feel like that'd be on-brand. 🤔

Bricky made a few mistakes in this video. Specifically, I want to talk about the assassins. Firstly, the lore concerning them is kind of all over the place (that’s a bit of theme for GW 🙄). But, from what I can tell, only the higher echelons of the Imperium even know of their existence. Secondly, Bricky mentioned that there are three Ordos (orders) of the Inquisition: Xenos, Malleus, and Hereticus. But, there are in fact, maaaany Minor Ordos. Including at least one meant to regulate the usage of the Assassin Temples. Now I’m going to add a few more details on to three of the Assassin types. I think Bricky did ok with the Kaledus (the shapeshifter) assassins so I’ll focus on the others. The Vindicare: their suits have tech that can allow these snipers to remain in a single spot without moving for days, or maybe even weeks. The Vindicare have rifles that are customized for the individual, and can fire a wide variety of projectiles. These weapons can puncture walls, and the projectiles can cover many different situations. The Calexus: the anti-psykers can not only use their equipment and training to amplify their blank aura, but, they can also suppress it. Calexus can even suppress their aura to the point where no one can tell that they are a blank! Finally the Eversore: the absolute madmen! The Eversore are chosen from people who have psychotic tendencies. These guys undergo extensive and invasive procedures that put them on par with Astartes. The only major differences are that Eversores are not as durable as Space Marines in physical abilities, equipment, or organization. Lastly! The piece to resistance! The Eversores have some kind of equipment (or drugs) in their suit (or inside of their bodies) that activates when they die. It creates the equivalent of a large nuclear explosion! Yeah, when Bricky says that no one is going to come out alive from that situation, he means it! 😂

1:14:00 My personal perspective on Femstodes as someone who is not too invested in lore and doesn't play the tabletop but writes and knows some marketing. Female Custodes are perfectly fine lore wise as Custodes are taken basically from birth and altered extensively so their Gender would make very little difference to their enhancements and duty. However, GW introduced them the literal worst way possible just a random tweet out of nowhere basically saying Female Custodes have always existed spoken like it wouldn't be a retcon, disregarding 30+ years of other writers work. From a marketing and writing perspective that kills any momentum for future model or writing releases related to Female Custodes and pisses of the fans for absolutely no reason. What they should have done is have a teaser about Female Custodes than released a book set in 30k or post heresy where it explains Malcodor or someone important from that time going through the process of developing and making Female Custodes, it would still be a retcon however with good writing it would be fine. Then, organize a new release of Female Models for the neglected Sisters of Battle and Sisters of Silence to line up with the introduction of Female Custodes. Now due to modern politics it would still be considered controversial but this method would have pissed off significantly less fans.

I’m surprised the Warhammer 40K community has been so hostile. I’m new-ish to the series and everyone I’ve met has been nothing but kind and helpful I guess you just came across the Internet side of the fandom. That side can get . . . well, like any other internet fandom
@crowe696113 күн бұрын
I am not surprised, having been involved one way or the other for 15+ years. Outsiders have been consistently demanding fundamental lore changes because the awful, war-torn space dystopia isn't in line with contemporary social issues all the time (though the Imperium does let things slide that one wouldn't expect), missing the point that is not a place one should want to live in at all! Die there? I mean, if that's your deal, sure. But live there? Absolutely not! Living on a nice planet is just asking for something terrible to happen to it, I swear...
@terrencenoran323313 күн бұрын
Because they treat the lore as serious when it’s not that much. Even Luetin, the big 40K lore man, is aware how dumb the lore can be sometimes but he tries to give it some gravitas.
@crowe696113 күн бұрын
Have you read anything written by Dan Abnett? It reads like gritty sci-fi that happens to be particularly good, and in 40k. Not satirical, but often recognizably themed. It makes no effort to hide what the Imperium really is. Why is grimdark sci-fi any more unserious than any other brand of fantasy or sci-fi? I reject the premise. If one is going to retcon, _write good retcons!_

It really hasn't been that hostile, if we're being completely honest. Kip just happens to be the type of personality to take things super personally and blow them out of proportion. No shade to the guy, he's great, but it's definitely something to be aware of so you don't take his comments like that too seriously.

You're lucky. Majority of my experience with the fan base is online as Warhammer from where I live is not that big. And it has been negative, hostile, and gatekeepy with people taking things too seriously and unironically thinking the Imperium's system is great. This is why I chose not to interact with majority of the fandom and just read books, build models, and enjoy the setting on my own. Though it only applies to 40k as fans of other wargame setting such as Quar or even Trench Crusade has been relatively nice.

About the custodes. While they are cool as soldiers, their abilities, their armor etc. They aren't human when you read about them in the lore. When you read about how they think, its not human. Being immortal being tied to the emperor they can't understand how a human would think or how a human would live. And so they come off very alien when hear how they think. They are really cool, but when you look deeper, they're kind of disturbing.

I'll never stop recommending it and always think of it once people start bashing GW, but scope out Death of Hope if you haven't already lol. 10/10 Warp/Chaos portrayal and Heresy-era armor, stopped from continuing by GW, but more than worth the thirty-odd minutes between the trailers and first and only episode.

From the books I've read, a lot of the "incantations" tend to be followed with a bit of the good old "tappy-tap-tap" percussive maintenance routines, so call me skeptical that the Cult Mechanicus aren't anything other than a bunch of superstitious tech-bro hyper-nerds.

“Not sure what Henry Cavill’s in.” Ever seen Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman, Justice League (both versions), and any other DCEU movie Superman is in? … Yeah, he’s Superman. Also, I think he said the show’s gonna take place during the Badab War. Pretty hefty place to start. Surprised it’s not during the Unification Wars, the Great Crusades, or the Horus Heresy.

Yeah Warhammer 40k has its fanatics and grimderps. Even outside those, most of us are weird, bit culty but love memes and are welcoming. That’s just what happens when you get into the plastic crack and read doctorates worth of lore. You either get possessive or start to spread the word.

Fun fact about the negativity of so many members of the 40k community. It shares a bit of a indirect kinship with the trolley problem. In that it was meant to be a complete satire, but people did wind up taking it way too seriously.

I believe GW's goal is to have every faction have a 50% win rate in tournaments, so they buff those who don't and nerf those who do, or at least the most prevalent units. Also, Red Scorpions were created by Forge World (A GW specialty company) that no longer exists so you will not get stuff or stories about the Red Scorpions. sorry to burst your bubble.
