How does the 260mm compare to the 185mm rear handle for ripping? I normally use a blade-right sidewinder (top handle). I want a blade-left for times I need to bevel the opposite way and for ripping. Considering it wouldn't be my main saw, I think the extra depth of cut would be worthwhile for times I need it. It will easily handle 4x4 posts here in Canada. I think I'd go for the 185mm sidewinder for my main saw. The M18 I have will become my beater saw for rough work. Thanks for all the work you put into these videos!

I have the same question. Trying to decide between size-speed of cutting-ease of handling and depth of cut. Does the smaller saw have any drawbacks when straight ripping 5 cm timber for example?
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL2 жыл бұрын
The 185 has a heap more power providing you don't want to cut larger than 2x timber.
@Ruudwardt2 жыл бұрын
@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL Interesting. Is it because of more rpm? Or does the smaller saw have more powerful motor? - edit - Based on looks it is the same motor, likely only different gearing, maybe different power management (the pwm controller parameters etc) to give the 185 more rpm.

Would be great to do a comparison between the track saw and the The 40V max XGT Brushless 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw with Guide Rail Compatible Base GSH02Z (can’t find outside USA). I wonder if it’s a legitimate competitor for mixed track and skill use.

Do you think the 10 1/4' would do well turned upside down in a shop built portable tablesaw? I've got the 18x2 7 1/4" that I was planning on doing that with, but now this XGT beast looks like the better option. Thoughts?
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL3 жыл бұрын
The 7 is more powerful and less likely to stall. But the 10 will give you greater capacity... tricky one...
@markhedquist95973 жыл бұрын
@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL Ya. I wondered about that. I'm leaning toward the 7 1/4 still. For a tiny, portable/cordless tablesaw. Then, still have my Dewalt corded job site tablesaw for any heavier duty ripping. I'll say that, for now... Thanks for the input!
@markhedquist95973 жыл бұрын
@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL And, also, I'm sure you've seen the Makita combo miter/table saw contraption. I think they call it "the flipper"? Any interest? The machining on the aluminum tables is really cool looking! On the miter saw side it's all concentric circley. Circlie? Circle like. I think it's rather expensive like, too.

I have two Xsr01 , the 36v 7.5” rear handle saws. Both are horrible ripping, the blade is not square to the frame and cut crooked. I sent one back to Makita for warranty but it came back the same crooked cut. I can’t find any adjustments. Suggestions? Get the new 40v?

I agree with so much of what you’ve said. I’ve wanted a smaller blade saw for a while, I use the 18v as my go to saw, and break out the rear handle for the ripping. I use mine with a prazi chainsaw attachment for beams and man that’s sketchy 😅

@TOOL & STUFF u used both of them and I hope u have time to answer my question … which saw would u buy or prefer? The 5” or the 6 1/2”? I’m asking because I’m on the fence to buy one of them my “older “ 61/2” is done and I need to replace this saw. And I want buy into the new 40V system because I also want to buy the big 101/4” that’s why I want also buy a new “ smaller “ one ..
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL3 жыл бұрын
If I didn't want to cut out flooring or similar then I would go for the 6. I think a 6 and the 10 is probably the best combination. 👌

@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL thx that u had time to answer .. ok I will get then a 6 1/2” saw .. this makes it also bit easier with getting the saw blades … 6 1/2” u can get here ( Canada ) everywhere. Merry christmas, happy fest times, Mate. Keep the vids coming, ja? Waiting for Makita to make a noise cancelling head-set, with adjustments for the different frequencies. i.e circ saw/trimmer/lawn mower etc. They all seem to have a 'sweet spot' what the noise/sound changes.

Hey Tools, another great video. I took the plunge and sold all my 18v stuff and bought the 40v kit. Im looking to expand with a circular saw. I’m in oz and the 165s aren’t available (online too pricey ie $200 more than 185mm) Q: Is it worth waiting for the 165 or just grab the 185mm? Given they have same depth of cut, is there any benefits for going with the bigger saw? Cheers
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL3 жыл бұрын
You could be waiting a while for the 165 in Oz so I would grab the 185. If you have the hs004 in Australia then grab that as it has a groove for the guide rail.

And what would you purchase for just normal use which 40 volt circular saw do you think is the best buy for the money? I would really appreciate your feedback to make a decision.. thanks 😁
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL2 жыл бұрын
Depends what's available. Personally I use the 6.5" the most but it's not available in the states. I then use the large rail saw the most. But for a good all round saw that will do most tasks without being too big or small, I would go for the GSH02 track compatible 7.25"

Can't you make a floor cut with a makita plunge saw and the blade cover removed ?
@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL2 жыл бұрын
Not really because it only has a 1° Reverse bevel so the blade nut will rub on walls, skirtings, etc.

Epic video! Should I feel bad that I am still using a circular saw with a cable attached? I might wait until I bite the bullet on 40v before I buy a cordless saw.
@reaperreaper50982 жыл бұрын
Not really. Corded saws are still very good, and one category of tools I wouldn’t outright replace with cordless just yet. I keep a corded Ridgid for the times that my rear handle Milwaukee or Makita can’t cut the mustard, which isn’t that often, but still happens.
